Bless you SCC.
Can remember the day as it was right now.
May all the victims murdered by the scum of the world, rest in the Almighty arms.

American people need to elect people that will destroy the elements that hit NYC and D,C on 9-11.

The "Great Hate" against Police, Fire/Public safety was beginning...

9/11 only reminded people how much they actually needed first responders but the agenda was to drive any and all positive press off the front pages and start the drum-beat of "Mere public servants getting cush six figure pensions and are retiring in their 40's."

If we remember, this flaired up around Califirnia coast life guards. (Long Beach?)

The "Great Hate" continues...

Prayers for the fallen.

Unfortunately ISIS is on a run in the mid-east, and without American Leadership they are not being stopped.

Barack Obama at Ft Bragg December 14, 2011,

"Today, I’ve come to speak to you about the end of the war in Iraq. Over the last few months, the final work of leaving Iraq has been done. Dozens of bases with American names that housed thousands of American troops have been closed down or turned over to the Iraqis. Thousands of tons of equipment have been packed up and shipped out. Tomorrow, the colors of United States Forces-Iraq -- the colors you fought under -- will be formally cased in a ceremony in Baghdad."

"It’s harder to end a war than begin one. Indeed, everything that American troops have done in Iraq -– all the fighting and all the dying, the bleeding and the building, and the training and the partnering -– all of it has led to this moment of success. Now, Iraq is not a perfect place. It has many challenges ahead. But we’re leaving behind a sovereign, stable and self-reliant Iraq, with a representative government that was elected by its people. We’re building a new partnership between our nations. And we are ending a war not with a final battle, but with a final march toward home."

Three years ago, the Iraq was at peace. Our troops were safer there than if they were in Chicago. Then Obama abandoned and ignored it. And the jihadists are back again. Last night, he said we have to go back again.

VOTE NO! There is absolutely no mention of the pension on this contract. 2% for medical now and probably 50% by next several contracts. 11% raise? Kiss my ass. Who cares about the helicopter pilots and their event numbers? They wanted to fly it! Who cares about squad cars? That's on the city anyway! Give us tools that work! But it doesn't belong in our contract. Please don't forget that we have "coppers" negotiating, not lawyers cpas or full time union specialists! No retro for the first year? We are not even a real union! So why should we be treated like we have a real union, when we aren't! We have a bargaining unit! Teachers, firemen and aldermen got their share and it's time to get ours. I rather be screwed by the arbitrator then to look back and regret that we as officers voted ourselves into a toilet. Give us what we deserve or let's find us someone who can. We have a copper who won a misguided popularity contest. Yes he's tVOTE NO! OT:

Recently Major General Harold Greene, a 2 star general, became the highest ranking officer killed in action in Afghanistan in an attack by a gunman dressed as an Afghan soldier.

He was buried with full honors at Arlington.

Guess who did not attend the funeral? If you said President Obama you would be correct. Obama was on the golf course at Martha's Vineyard. How about the vice president? Nope, he was too busy also. Secretary of State, himself a veteran? Nope, not there. Secretary of Defense Hagel, however, did attend. I guess he couldn't get out of it.

In Vietnam and the first Iraq war a general officer was KIA in each conflict. The President did attend the services of both. Nixon in Vietnam and Bush in the first Iraq War death.

SCC, noticed lately that there are quite a few cars operating w/o Beat Tags. There should be a big push to have them visible as it could be an early warning sign of look a like vehicles to be used for an attack.

Also, I think CPD Personnel should be familiar with the license plates for surrounding ISP Districts that might be called to provide mutual aid incident to a serious event. ISP vehicles immediately responding with plates beyond Districts C or 15, and maybe 2 & 5 should be given extra attention.

Sorry it sounds petty, just makes me worry when I see all the cab companies using police interceptors. I also dont like the new LED light technology. It can be hard to dtermnine if you are looking at fog lights or covert emergency lights.

9/11/2014 08:31:00 AM

Yes, I did reflect on the said event. What sick person wouldn't be humbled by the atrocity of that day? You are treating this post like it's a official memorial for the victims. It's not! It's a reminder so we won't forget! Yes, there are other OT posts. That's what SCC is for, to inform coppers and make them aware. If you read my post and thought I was "thinking about myself", you are more sick and twisted then a ball sack on a cold day. Everything in my post was about all of us who sacrifice ourselves for the city with negative incentives. Our raise does not match inflation, we are being lied to, misguided, seduced, deceived, etc... I wanted to inform fellow officers that our pension and other major issues were not even mentioned on the contract. Nobody came on the job to be a millionaire. Nobody came on the job thinking they will take pay cuts either. Want me to be thankful? For my family and friends, yes. For the job? People who nit pick like yourself and can't work as a team make this job one hell of a miserable place to be. Why do we keep screwing each other? Just for once let's share information and find out what is best for us. You tell me to reflect about an event 13 years ago? Sure, who hasn't! How about 20 years later? I don't want to look back on this contract and think about how the city screwed us out of our fair due which ultimately will burden our families. Wait! It'll be us who screw ourselves if we don't even attempt to put up a fight, or just make a stand. Nobody came on the job to be a millionaire. Nobody came on the job thinking they were going to take pay cuts either. ISIS is currently beheading Christian children and sending the headless bodies back to the parents. ISIS has members from the US and major European countries. Do people like you worry about that? If so why? They haven't attacked us yet. That's not in the past yet. If my OT comment about our contract issue truly bothered you. Let me apologize to those who live and work with you. How miserable they must be. You were so bothered by my comment you got my message across the second time. This post will be the third. Thank you.

I remember 13 years ago heading into work for third watch. I was driving in listening to news network and was glued to news channel all morning. I was sick to my stomach for all those innocent people losing their lives. All I could think about was protecting my family against these terrorists. My daughter and son were on 3 and 5 at the time and all I could think about was how their lives were going to change. As I approached 11th district I observed business as usual along Lake street. The animals were out in force dealing and drinking. That was enough for me, and since then I realized that they just don't give a shit about anything.

If it maintains civil order, I am in favor of maintaining a US garrison there as long as there are troops in Germany, Japan and Korea. Those wars are long over, but the presence of US troops has kept the peace.

Obama squandered everything through his misguided pro-Islamic policies.

9/11/2014 06:53:00 PM perhaps if the city would buy bt tags we would use them. Taping paper to the top of the SUV does not stay in place for an entire tour unless you tape the number in the window. Did you bother to look in the rear window because many officers without a plastic bt tag, tape the number to the inside window so the paper makeshift tag won't fly off. So stop trying to incite panic for no reason. It is no conspiracy--now go back down to your bunker and wait for 9/11 to pass.

Rest In Peace

Cyril Richard "Rick" Rescorla (May 27, 1939 – September 11, 2001) was a retired United States Army officer of British birth who served with distinction in Northern Rhodesia as a member of the Northern Rhodesia Police (NRP) and as a soldier in the Vietnam War, where he was a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.

Rescorla was sent to Vietnam, where he served under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Hal Moore. The two participated in the 1965 Battle of Ia Drang, which Moore would later describe in a 1992 book he co-authored We Were Soldiers Once… And Young, (from which the 2002 Mel Gibson film We Were Soldiers would be adapted).

Rescorla is the soldier pictured on the book jacket cover. Co-author Lieutenant Colonel Hal Moore described him as "the best platoon leader I ever saw". Rescorla's men nicknamed him "Hard Core" for his bravery in battle and revered him for his good humor and compassion towards his men.

As the director of security for the financial services firm Morgan Stanley at the World Trade Center, Rescorla anticipated both attacks on the towers and implemented evacuation procedures credited with saving many lives. He died in the aftermath of the attacks of September 11, 2001, while leading evacuees from the South Tower.

I was working at the Marine Unit at the time. The 2nd plane went in as I got to work. The NYC news feed was on almost all radio channels here. 2nd large plane meant that was no accident, definitely an attack.

We had to prepare as if something would happen here. Downtown evacuated, I was calling our people all morning notifying days off canceled, furloughs cancelled.

Then they had me out on the concrete pad east of the boat house with binoculars looking for aircraft. After a while I saw two dots coming in from the Michigan side. I called it in.

It was two aircraft all right. Two F-16's fully loaded taking positions for combat air patrol over downtown. They came in low, maybe 1,000 - 1,500 feet. Maybe that was to reassure people, the sight and sound of two F-16's with missiles mounted under those wings is not a sight you see every day over downtown Chicago. I felt better knowing at least someone was prepared to shoot back in case more shit was tried here.

What a day, that's putting it mildly.
