NY Mayor Booed

  • During Monday's New York City Police Academy graduation ceremony, for the first time in history the Mayor of New York was subjected to boos and heckling while he welcomed the latest class of police cadets to the NYPD. In fact, some of those attending the graduation gave New York's top politician the "Bronx cheer," a/k/a the raspberry.

While the graduating class were silent as they sat in New York City's landmark Madison Square Garden, the graduates' families and friends were openly voicing their disapproval for Mayor Bill de Blasio, who is accused siding with anti-police politicians, agitators such as be Blasio's close friend Rev. Al Sharpton, and the thousands of anti-cop protesters.

A few of those attending the graduation ceremony also turned their backs on the mayor when he stood at the podium, but the Democrat's staff made certain to quickly spin the embarrassing episode by releasing a press statement: "We heard a mix of applause and boos today. We want to remind folks that today was not the first time a NYC Mayor has been booed at a police graduation."

"I've been a member of the NYPD all of my adult life and I can't imagine what mayor was booed before de Blasio. I've served as a cop during the Beame, Lindsay, Koch, Dinkens, Giuliani, and Bloomberg years and not one of them was ever openly disrespected by their own police department," said veteran detective George Knudsen. "If [President Barack] Obama was speaking at the graduation ceremony it's a safe bet that he would have heard boos and cat-calling," he added.
Shortshanks was tone-deaf to a fault. This guy doesn't even realize there's music.

I'm loving those NYPD guys more and more every day. We need to take a note from their unity.

Chicago Citizens are beginning to show support for our Police Officers by wrapping blue ribbons around the trees on parkways. Where's Rahm and his tree?

The cops have the offensive, hopefully they can resolve some of the issues before the real public's support begins to fade. Damn microwaves, fast drive thrus, fast internet access and all the other gotta have it nows have managed to shorten the average Americans attention span to that of a gnat.

Glad he got booed and heckled.

The only thing better would have been to hear MR.T tell him to,

Shut up Fool and quit your jibba jabber, Don't give me no Back Talk sucka! I Pity the Fool!

Wow! 884 new recruits all at once.

I can remember a time when we use to get that many in a year.

Maybe a year an a half...

I think it is an EXCELLENT show of distaste for an out-of-touch politician.

Wake up, CPD. You should have been doing this a LONG time ago with the clown we have in-place now.

As to having to "show respect for the office" - FIRST, the person IN the office has to show respect to the office as well as all the personnel and operations that report up to that office.

I don't see that in DiBlasio and to be honest, I really don't see that in Rahm.

Both are sad excuses for leadership.

That mayor deserves worse than just heckling. He needs to resign. He is no leader and he can not win back the confidence from the police and citizens.

Then they notice my CPD baseball cap with the gray hair and ask if I am a CPD cop and I proudly reply retired. No matter what age they are they say with all the shit going on wished all well.

I have only met a few New Yorkers other than the great coppers they have that I have met. The average citizen in New York seemed different to me. Maybe it's my Midwest upbringing but I can see the people siding with their mayor! They are strange and they did elect him.....

This was awesome. When I read that article and saw a that summonses were down 94 percent I nearly fell out of my chair. Of course de blah blah O had to call an emergency meeting. He was missing out on revenue for all his bullshit programs. Wonder if his meeting did any good. Shortshanks, Jesse and Al take notice. Can you imagine what Chicago would look like if coppers stopped police. Picture Thunderdome or The Warriors.

POS socialist mayor needs the police but instead shits on them. When his son gets mugged the POS mayor will turn to the cops to solve the crime, not Sharpton, Jesse or Obama, just as Mayor Twinkletoes did.

Citizens don't need politicians, but they do need the police to keep the animals from controlling the streets.

After Ferguson, the stores in the area sold out of those blue-tinted decorator light bulbs -- people were putting them in their porch light sockets and leaving them on to show support. Nice touch.

All police departments should be doing the same thing as nypd until de Blasio resigns. Strength in unity. Police have to step up and protect whats good and right. Police all ready do it, but on a different level. Now people need the olive to do it on a political level. This is big, very big. It would put power back in the people's hands, not the political system. The politicians and agenda pushers did not plan, nor did they expect this.

Is Rahm now receiving Secret Service protection?

A local Fox affiliate noticed that even this level of armed protection is apparently not sufficient for Barack Obama’s former chief of staff. WFLD captured a sign posted in front of the residence after the recent attack warning that the premises are off-limits and being protected by the U.S. Secret Service.

The beautiful thing is the hecklers are family and friends of Policemen...

The liberal demo-commiecrat politicians and media are beside themselves with worry and are looking to the White House to "Help us do something about these out of control cops."

They thought they could pick this fight and not incur any blow-back.

They were confident that the many years of anti-Police agit-prop via the media would drive a wedge between the public and The Police to make it easier to bust unions, redirect and loot pensions and take Policing away from local and state governing bodies and make it a function of national governance.

Those who are both blind and dead can see the peril of this slippery slope.

It's The Police who are the problem, right?

"Why are you Cops always so angry for no reason?"

It was the perfect opportunity; a lot of police family members assembled in one place, determined to show the mayor how they felt. Had the new officers not been in uniform and readily identifiable, they probably would have joined in.
This is how a police FAMILY shows its loyalty to one another. The mayor interjected himself into a police ceremony and could not have expected a different outcome.

politicians vote in many laws
do they practice what they preach
tell kids to experiment with same sex partners , date people of other races , do they hire inner city kids as baby sitters ,to shovel snow , cut grass , do they welcome illegal immigrants into their high priced neighborhoods
I doubt it , what do you think .

People of New York please get this mayor out of office before he completely ruins your city. Shootings, Robberys, and possible attacks on the city will go threw the roof with him in charge. A mayor or presidents basic job is to unite people in there city or country not side with only the bad guys

This is bullshit. I was at his house 12/31/14 and there is no such sign. Just the normal two PO's out front and one in the rear and others in an undisclosed nearby location with long guns. No Secret Service. The article is false.

Mayor Wilhelm still either doesn't get it or just can't help but show his true colours. Reappoints judge Johnson who just let two other scumbags who threatened police free without bail. I wonder what his cabinet of advisors are like. I'd say it's something to the left of ayers

SCC, if you don't have a link to it already, I would recommend one to the ny post. I know it's not our local paper but its a conservative paper.

Rahm has never said an anti-word against the police. He even gave officers retro pay that Sheilds messed up (average $1,500). Rahm is far from de Blasio. I have my issues with Mayor Emanuel, however he is not de Blasio by any stretch on the imagination. I voted for Chico in 2011. What is the viable alternative to Rahm?

The Times also did a point-by-point refutation of NYPD complaints against City Hall. Accusations that de Blasio is anti-police, the paper said, amounted to a "false narrative."

To Anonymous at 12:35:

Let's not forget di Blasio's support for Daniel Ortega and his organizing and foot soldier work for the Sandanistas. He may have still been William Wilhelm at that point, not that it matters.

When you take it all in the big picture, Wilhelm's ascendancy has not been unlike Obama's in several important ways in terms of how their backgrounds and earlier activities and contacts molded and reflect a fervent embrace of communist ideology. Both his private life and public life demonstrate this, in my assessment.

di Blasio is a lonely man, it seems. He recently tried to get local Dem leaders, movers and shakers to publicly condemn the NYPD, but instead they ratted him out to the press. When called on it, di Blasio's spokesperson gave an unintelligible, laughably lame response. Dems are notorious for sticking together, but di Blasio has rendered himself toxic and stupidly doesn't know when to quit. He got in bed with Sharpton and woke up played, used and discarded. di Blasio couldn't even get Sharpton to call off his dogs for a break in the "protests" after the officers were assassinated.

I think NYPD officers are right. Di Blasio dislikes and disrespects all police, much like Holder and Obama do.
