REEKING of Desperation
- Mayor Rahm Emanuel has ordered the removal of 50 red-light cameras at 25 more Chicago intersections where the number of accidents has fallen, apparently determined to put out a political fire that could burn him in the April 7 runoff.
The red-light cameras at the 25 intersections haven’t been taken down yet, but they stopped spewing out $100 tickets at 12:01 a.m. Friday.
That will leave Chicago with 302 red-light cameras at 149 intersections — a 20 percent reduction in what’s been the nation’s largest red-light camera program.
So where are these cameras coming out of? Places that Rahm needs votes:
- Intersections where red-light cameras already have stopped issuing tickets and will be removed are located at: Ashland and 47th, 63rd, Archer, Diversey and Garfield; California and 31st; Central and Madison; Cicero and the Stevenson Expressway.; Cornell and 57th; Cottage Grove and 95th; Damen and Blue Island; Elston and Foster; Halsted and 63rd and 83rd; Harlem and Northwest Hwy.; Jeffery and 79th; Osceola and Touhy; Pulaski and Montrose; Stony Island and 83rd; Vincennes and 111th; Western and 51st and Pratt.
Cameras will also be removed at a trio of three-way intersections:
Kimball, McCormick and Lincoln; Narragansett, 55th and Archer; and Western, Armitage and Milwaukee.
We guess Rahm doesn't care as much about the children as we thought.

I really never had much of an issue with the red light cameras. It's the speed cameras that I think are ridiculous. Some aren't even by so called park and school areas. That should be the next issue.

An update from your friend in the Department of Human Resources. Your boss is an arrogant ass. Since I last posted, Commissioner Choi and Garry McCarthy have been aggressively trying to figure out who I am for outing the manipulation of the lieutenant's test, so I'm going to be vague. From what I have heard, the sergeant's union lawsuit can be delayed by the City until after the election-and that's all DHR and the mayor's people want. No more media about this, and once the mayor is safely re-elected, a big FU to all of you who spent money on prep classes, scheduled vacations, etc because unless the lawsuit prevails, the test will be re-opened and the reading list completely changed. I am hearing it's all because your Bob Tracey has a merit Sergeant Frausto as his admin sergeant and that he has taken a very personal interest in shepherding her into an exempt position. We did the paperwork for his last admin sergeant Karen Conway who he succeeded in giving a gold star to as head of R&D without even being a lieutenant, so I don't see why he doesn't just make her but it must be for appearances. It's pretty clear here that if you are a white female who works for Bob Tracey, you are golden. I hope you guys don't let the issue die, because it all comes down to the amount of pressure put on the mayor before the election. Again, my identity is highly sought after, so let me say I heard all this at the watercooler and have no inside info. ;)

Everybody on here says they don't like Rahm but can't give a good reason. He's not trying to take our pensions. Yes, I like what Garcia is saying. I hope he can produce, and save Chicago if he is elected. Yes,Rahm has issues,but is he the best manager for Chicago ?

The Publik Skhools have gone on strike and Rahm has said in no uncertain terms " I ain't paying for the pension." Rahm wants a super secret structured bankruptcy where he can void all pension obligations and keep the books closed. That's Rahms pension policy right there. As far as some whom have posited that businesses will leave the city, we'll open your eyes my friend. Real numbers unemployment are actually 18-28%, when almost 97,000,000 millions Americans are not working the regimes numbers of 5 % unemployment are as legit as Compstat. One just has to drive by six corners where here are over 90 empty storefronts, or on Irving pk between central and Narragansett another 100 empty storefronts, harlem and Higgins 20 plus empty storefronts and the list goes on and on. The businesses have already left the city and the state leaving us with Obamaville. They aren't coming back anytime soon. Any copper with 5 yrs or less to go is a complete fool to,vote for Rahm . He's the hand picked choice of The Daley crime family and the machine to,protect him from prosecution and to,protect the $2,000,000,000.00 in TIF money which is earmarked for those connected ones who get it and then donate a portion of the TIF money right back to Rahm and the politicians of his choice. Since I last posted, Commissioner Choi and Garry McCarthy have been aggressively trying to figure out who I am for outing the manipulation of the lieutenant's test, so I'm going to be vague. From what I have heard, the sergeant's union lawsuit can be delayed by the City until after the election-and that's all DHR and the mayor's people want. No more media about this, and once the mayor is safely re-elected, a big FU to all of you who spent money on prep classes, scheduled vacations, etc because unless the lawsuit prevails, the test will be re-opened and the reading list completely changed. I am hearing it's all because your Bob Tracey has a merit Sergeant Frausto as his admin sergeant and that he has taken a very personal interest in shepherding her into an exempt position. We did the paperwork for his last admin sergeant Karen Conway who he succeeded in giving a gold star to as head of R&D without even being a lieutenant, so I don't see why he doesn't just make her but it must be for appearances. It's pretty clear here that if you are a white female who works for Bob Tracey, you are golden. I hope you guys don't let the issue die, because it all comes down to the amount of pressure put on the mayor before the election. Another clueless citizen who thinks the working man is the source of his tax woes.
The pension is underfunded because the city has not paid their contributions. We have always made ours, but you probably didn't even know that we contribute, probably didn't know that we don't get SSI.
In the meantime the democratic party continues to give enormous entitlements to those that choose not to work. Anyone can be out of work and need a helping hand, but there are generations of people who have never punched a time clock, their ranks are growing and they by the time you add up their SSI, rent vouchers, food stamps, WIC and LINK, free phones and all sorts of other shit they are probably close to $3000 a month. Then they get an income tax refund because they are an Andy Frain for a few Cub Games or are paid $15 an hr to walk their own kids to school, or do something illegal to make more money.

I will be retiring in the next couple of years, hopefully, and am planing as if I will not be getting a pension.
I am currently looking at several states to relocate to and find employment. Luckily for me I have a decent sum in deffered, as does my wife, along with her pension from a real employer.

The reporters need to grab this and run with it.
When I heard the news saying Rahm was 'taking cameras down', I KNEW he was going to fudge those numbers and add in the cameras that had ALREADY been relocated to NEW intersections. (People, this is the man who cleverly parsed his words and made people think he planned to add 1000 police to the dept, when he never said any such thing.)
Rahm Emanuel didn't say WHEN he 'took down' all those cameras, so he was able to pad the numbers by about two dozen (already moved, or 'taken down' as he so coyly stated). Some of those cameras weren't producing enough revenue last year and were 'taken down', but RE-INSTALLED elsewhere. Now, he gets to count them twice.

That was lazy, sloppy writing. In an effort to be succinct (and I'm being generous in that assessment) the writer was more than a little unclear. It was technically correct, but part of good written reporting is being clear and understandable.

I don't think it would have been possible for the keptocrats in Chicago to ruin Chicago if it wasn't for the unions.
The politicians and union heierarchy lied to the members, constructed a insolvent economic model to support salaries and pensions and forced the non union citizens to finance it thru the "fair share" fee and collective bargianing.
The unions continue to help elect the people who have destroyed this city.
The reforms in WI and the economic activity in Right To Work states show the Madigan/Rahm/Union and IL Republicrats have killed this city.
Rahm is as much a socialist as Chuy.
The difference is Rahm believes in socialism for the crony capitalists and straight-up capitalism for the rest of us.

Increased taxes, ohare noise, increased section 8 in nice neighborhoods, less police in our neighborhoods, increase in gang bangers.... Yet we get less and less service. Even McCarthy refuses to acknowledge the increase in crime in 016 ...people are going to show their angst over this at the polls.

I think you fall into the category of those who believe their station in life should always be above that of the civil servant. According to your market driven ways, it was perfectly acceptable to get large raises and bonuses when times were good, while us civil servants poked along at our 1-4% annually depending on the generosity of our social betters.
Then the rough times come where those who are sacrificed by those further up the ladder for their own greed are either let go, wages cut or job responsibilities doubled. Yet instead of being angry at the corporate system that treats you as cannon fodder you take it out on the civil servant whose greed is so unimaginable that we continue to make our steady wage. Of course, our workload increases in these hard times due to upticks in crime and slower or freezing of hiring, but these matters are of no concern to you.
If our job is so great, try it. That body armor we wear isn't a forcefield, a lot of police have died despite wearing them. Oh, and don't forget you're going to be scrutinized for everything you do, especially if you shoot an unarmed person. Even though many, many, many police have been murdered by unarmed offenders.

Spot on neighbor. Rahm thinks we'll vote for him just because he's white. It isn't 1983 anymore. If I had to do it over again, I would have voted for Washington in 1983. I didn't get it then, but I do now. The corrupt machine has got to go.
