Now when the State FOP and the Chicago Lodge settle with Shields for violating his rights and due process as laid out on the National by-laws should FOP go after the co-conspirators for all related costs? I "got a guy" in 597 who works at BP Whiting who said the reason for the shutdown is due to a major engineering fuck up. BP switched to a heavier crude which destroyed the line that is shut down,
There is no solution right now. The engineers are scrambling to come up with something, and the maker of the line doesn't want to pay for repairs.
He said expect many, many months of even higher gas prices

I presume your guy is in the Pipe-fitters? I should have done that rather than FOP. They are right across the street. Aren't they also HVAC and Welders?
I fill up in Kane County when visiting family on Sundays. I will report back after on prices.

To clarify, he stated Flour, who designed the unit, failed to properly measure the corrosiveness of the new crude stock. Flour is disputing that their design is at fault. The crude stock ate through a heat exchanger, which is unheard of. Replacing the heat exchanger is a temporary solution, but the entire unit may have to be re-piped with a higher alloy upgrade. BP is deciding if they should just "band aid" it to get it up and running (knowing there will be constant problems in the future), or replace everything.
Or maybe it's just a big price fixing scam.
Chicago in the 1990's was referred to as "Beruit by the Lake"....when Gangs North,South and West spent the summer in 007 and nothing's changed except the names we call it....

Did Illinois inspector general Lisa Madigan open a investigation? are the feds looking into this obvious price gouging effort? Let the simple understand, no matter what fuel you buy in Illinois it is refined (made by) BP America at the Indiana plant? So that means since all stations are raising the price all fuel is the same BP,Shell<Mobil,Marathon,Speedway,Citgo,Thornton,ETC! Then why the premium price for BP gas? Collusion maybe Lisa Madigan? What do you say Lisa?

Illinois, Chicago have the highest gas prices in the nation coupled with this BS summer blend. Then add home rule which allows just about every town in the state to add their own sales tax on gas. When there is a shortage in Illinois, gas cannot be transported across state lines because of the summer blend. The political class gave into the farmers in the state who grow the corn that is added to the gas which creates this blend and drives up prices.

..... OT: Another BP screw up, couple years ago, Aug 2012, at the same refinery delivered tainted gas to BP, Thornton's & Shell that caused engine problems for many in Chicago. What kind of morons are they forced to hire there? So essentially the Chicago consumer has to pay for there errors. Just like the City and ComEd, they raise prices because their infrastructure is outdated. These corporate giants put the tab on us. Then tell us we have to save for rainy day expenses.
I don't know when the last time I bought gasoline in Chicago, but there's no savings on the border, the suburbs charging about the same, so they get the bite you instead of the tax going to Chicago - Crook County Anchor Sanctuary taxation.

I bought gas in Michigan right across the Indiana border yesterday for $3.09 a gallon. Exact same gas, both at Citgo. $4.15 per gallon in Chicago on Monday. How much is taxes and how much is bs to keep prices high?

So why the price rise on all the other companies?
Park on Indianapolis Blvd. (about 131st street south) in Whiting/Hammond where the tanker trucks pull in, BP, Shell, Valero, Luke, Clark, Pilot, Speedway, Marathon, etc. all get their fuel at the same place. From BP. And a huge amount is sent via pipeline from Whiting all across America in the Midwest.
They know that the local Chicago people are use to paying more and they let them.

The facility in Whiting is a BP refinery that refines crude for all different companies for the region. We're paying more here because the place that we get a large amount of gas (Whiting) is not operating, thus a shortage here, causing gas prices to go up. While it's probably all bullshit that there's a gas shortage in region, that's the reason our gas prices are way up, even more than CA. A "manufactured" crisis, in the least, but we're paying the price, literally.
There is always something about this time of year.
How many times we have heard of a major fire or strike at that refinery driving gas prices up.
A big part of the problem is that we haven't build a new refinery in this country in over thirty years. No one wants that in their back yard.

Are you guys rally this stupid? There is a minimum number of years that you have to work for an agency in order to qualify for a pension. Hiram is NOT going to get a state pension nor will Leo, etc. In Chicago you have to work 20 years (TWENTY YEARS) to qualify, unless retired at 63 with less than 20 years. The a special formula applies. All agencies have a minimum. They pay into a pension fund but receive the money back in a lump when they leave. Jody paid into MEABF and got back his contribution with a 1.5% simple interest calculation. When uniformed goofs like you post on this blog other similar idiots read it and believe it. Get your info before posting. We look stupid enough as it is. We don't need the public reading our incorrect and stupid comments. It only makes all of us look like a bunch of goofs.
O/T Hiram turned the job down. Figured there wasn't enough room on the tomb stone with Jagoff taking up space, as he did.
