Someone Running for Mayor?
- Community leaders called a rally Friday night and encouraged dozens of neighborhood folks to be more vigilant and active in policing the area.
The rally — called “Operation Wake Up!” — followed on the heels of a summer stacked with crime ranging from a brutal stabbing at Taylor-Lauridsen Park to drive-by shootings, graffiti and gang-related loitering in front of abandoned buildings dotting the community's trouble spots.
“We need to continue to be vocal and active in our community, making sure that we’re calling the police when we see a crime,” said Ald. Patrick D. Thompson (11th). “We need to make sure we’re reaching out and working with the police department.”
That "D" as his middle initial is sure to fool the voters, right? What is with the media lately?

First the Water Reclamation District. Then Balcer decides not to run for alderman, allowing Patrick Daley Thompson to take the 11th Ward in a very close election (too close for the demo rats. PDT will be running for mayor as rahm moves on after his second term to spend more time with his family.
The Daley family has been and continues to be a curse on this city. Takers and louses is all most of them are. No Daley for Mayor.

why is it that the CPS teachers get a pension similar to CPD and CFD but then cry when they are asked to pay their fair share of 9% just like the other city agencies. IF CPS teachers don't want to pay the 9% pension contribution then their pension should be reduced. Its not fair that CPD and CFD pay 4 times mores than CPS who currently only pay 2% pension but then they want to be entitled to the same pension. What a bunch of cry babies? And not its not a pay cut its an investment into their own pension which is long overdue. Can you imagine all the CPS teachers in the past that paid only 2% pension contributions and are enjoying an over inflated pension benefit. CPS shouldn't be casting stones at the politicians until they themselves get their (#*& together
Why should one term alderman, congressman, senators, mayors or governors be entitled to a pension when the average taxpayer has to work 20 years and maybe get a pension? The people of the state of ILLINOIS should demand this change although these politicians will never agree.
Why does Chicago need 50 alderman when Los angeles has more people and are getting the job done with 15 alderman. The citizens of Chicago need to push for the reduction of alderman so they can earn that part time pay of $100,000. what other part time job lets a person earn so much and have a staff

Wondering who at the pension board approved this blatant theft and are they being looked at by authorities? Giving away freely pension money that was promised and 9% of every check contributed to by working street coppers who would give it away to a criminal empire such as this? Pathetic!

Alderman attend CAPS meetings all over the city. What was so special about this one that it got media attention? Oh yeah, local media serves more as the propaganda arm of the corrupt daley machine.
I suspect Patrick D. Thompson is the litmus test. When the balloon goes up in the city, a number of residents will be clamoring for the "good old days." A Daley will rush (be thrust) into the fold, but my money would be on Nora Daley Conroy as things stand right now. Meanwhile, her resume's growing...
