The real story is that tomorrow I will still be pushing a beat car answering bullshit domestics.
What's the real story behind this? Probably that Rahm said 'do whatever you have to do to make the appearance of embracing diversity' and also that Escalante's working hard to solidify his connections/friendships because he knows he isn't getting the top job.
Please tell me wysingers final F U to cpd (Lott) got moved. I can't imagine working for much worse of a cmdr. But, knowing how this dept promotes on politics and nepotism instead of character and leadership skills I guess worse is actually possible.

Anyone else out there remember when this idiot and his two moron partners extorted guns from a guy they stopped carrying weed through 011? Faced with the ultimatum that he either cough up some guns for their "turn in" or go to jail for weed, the would-be arrestee contacts his attorney who summons IAD. IAD provides guns for turn-in and the three cabeleros accept the guns, dispose of the weed and let the guy go. Too lazy to inventory the guns that same night the "bait weapons" are secured in a personal locker in 011 where they are are promptly recovered by IAD after they obtain a search warrant to enter the locker. The three, including the newly promoted are arrested and cuffed by IAD. They ultimately serve suspension time and one-guess who-recieves three merit promotions as his sentence. Anybody else what to chime in on what is wrong with the Chicago Police Department?

Deputy Chief of Street Operations is the Street Deputy spot. That opening was created when Velez retired. Ruiz and Alexander are the Street Deputies now, two good guys who are knowledgeable and experienced. Putting Pena in this position is a huge mistake. She doesn't have the knowledge, experience or demeanor to be a Street Deputy. They are the one's who respond out after a police involved shooting or other significant incident, so hope, pray or rub your lucky rabbit's foot that when your involved she isn't the one who respond.
Eddie Johnson is a good man who has earned what he's got. A competent guy who genuinely cares about the people under him which now includes all of Patrol. Still he's going to have to eat 9 1/2s shit so hope this doesn't age him.
