Backups of 911 calls have been concentrated in South Side and also West Side police districts since Mayor Rahm Emanuel took office in 2011, according to the records, which City Hall fought to keep confidential, citing safety concerns.
Sources said police Supt. Garry McCarthy was working on plans to address the problem when Emanuel fired him Dec. 1 in the fallout over the release of video of the shooting death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, shot 16 times by a Chicago cop in October 2014.

Various constituents, "activists," reverends," "artists," "spokesmen," blm, out-of-state agitators chant -- "Remove police."

017 had 159 cops for the watch selections. Pound sand. These nice areas don't have any police working there any longer. You want more cops in the ghetto, well, that is until they do something, then they're an "OCCUPYING ARMY". There is no winning with black political logic. It is even more demented than liberal logic. I always tell anyone on the north/northwest side to call for the slightest problem.
A real story here would be showing what the calls for service actually are for.
So, last week the blacks are crying that they don't trust the police, and they want them gone. Sunday, the alderman is demanding more police to be allocated to the problem. Let's step back here and pause for a moment.
You can't make this shit up.
The problem is once you get more Officers in these shit ass areas, the people in these high crime areas complain about police harrassment and enforcing the laws, passed by the city council! But the citizens are too stupid to realize how government works and blame front line officers for all of their problems! So, Why bother!

They can't handle anything themselves, so they call the police that they despise because they were taught to hate them by the same socialists. Great system of governing, right?

An entire class of people who can't handle their own business without calling for the government masters to come handle it for them. They give nothing, but take everything and tax the system to its breaking point. You allow this every time you vote for the democrats, or stay home and don't vote.
I worked these shit hole south side districts for years: no place to eat, roach infested station houses, dirty bathrooms, beat up lousy cars, racist black commanders, and I could go on. I was a supervisor with no clout so I was stuck until I retired. Oh, I forgot to mention, a boat load of cops who really took their time and there was nothing you could do about it. If I was on the job now, under these circumstances, I would also start to really take my time. Here are the black politicians blaming the police for their failure to really do something about the lousy conditions in their own communities, a part of which they are responsible for with their own corruption. Now they want more police, something they have been hollering for years. The libs in the black community ( I still have contacts there), blame the police for the violent crime there because these neighborhoods are " over policed". Now, how do you get around that?
So the call for an ambulance to take them to the hospital for their hangover is too much for the system to handle? Who would have thought it was problematic? They call, get a free ambulance ride to a hospital where they won't pay the bill, then get a ride back to the house the government pays for with your taxes. They eat and drink with food and booze you pay for, then do drugs for that little something extra. What's the problem?

During their long watch they've down nothing but bring shame and ridicule from the world stage as their flocks continued to shoot and kill each other. You so called leaders of the people, for the people obviously haven't quelled the violence during your long tenure. If anything, they've done quite the opposite by the looks from national headlines and a movie they all embraced. And in true form by your actions you have by example shepard your flock in the art of not taking responsibility for their actions.
Show some real leadership and grown a pair of balls and step down.

First, charge the south side 10¢ per 9-1-1 call and see if that eliminates the bs calls, if not raise it to 15¢, then 20¢, etc, just like the formula that they use for my water bill or my +$250,000 valued house.
The added revenues will be used to supplement more police that the Alder-stools say they don't have.
But then again, more police will result in more complaints of shooting folks in the back.

to the officer writing about 017. Many years ago I was stationed there. We had at least 300 officers back then. I was Ok, not real busy most of the time. Now I understand, they have half the men and many days are no cars available. So much for paying high taxes!
So why don't the districts have to be a percentage of cops to the districts constituents? In other words if the district is half white and half black make the P.O. make up the same. Make black coppers respond to black citizen calls and they have to get a black judge in court when arrests are made with all black jurors. Racial problem solved.

But please send them back to the academy to be retrained first. Then hit them with another round of cycles with an FTO. They're being held hostage in impact zones until they forget everything they learned. Then they're partnering up with someone they've been stuck in the impact zone with, so neither of them know a damn thing. Talk about a recipe for disaster. Anyone coming to a district from an impact zone should be treated like a brand new recruit, except they may actually have less knowledge of this job than a new recruit. You shouldn't have 1.5 years on this job without ever doing a damn bit of police work. At least let them write some reports or something.

Yeah, like the northside district has enough officers to spread around to the west and south sides. my district is sending an officer to the far northwest side this weekend and another northern district is sending 2 officers to the far northwest side as well. Why? Rumor has it there are only like 39 or something officers in that district on the day watch. Since we all live up in that far northwest district, my district is happy to help out. Getting killed with the garage burglaries here, but hey, certain districts are always in a RAP so send more there. STOP CALLING SO MUCH!!

Wait a minute. Isn't the goal to reduce crime? If that is true then less police should be assigned to the South side. That way less arrests/investigations are done. At the end of the year the data will show a decrease in crime because all the numbers will be down. What the hell is the matter with you people. Stop investigating violations of the law, don't answer 911 calls for violent offenses, AND FOR GOD'S SAKE DON'T ARREST ANYBODY FOR ANYTHING. We all want crime to reduce crime and this is a fool proof method.

There is also a code of silence in these communities, as long as it is not happening to them, they do not care. You can not blame all of it on the police. I am a citizen, not a cop.
1. North side districts that have predominantly white neighborhoods have less crime (meaning an overall lower calls for service).
2. In these districts, there is far less abuse of the 911 system (i.e. calling because jr doesn't want to go to school, calling 911 on the cashier at mcdonalds because they are out of chicken nuggets etc..). For whatever reason you wish to attribute it to, these north side districts are not burdening the 911 system as much with non-police issues that can be solved with a little common sense. These burdens lead to backlogs.
3. In these predominantly white neighborhoods with less crime and less 911 calls guess what????? There are far less police officers assigned to those districts. Often, these neighborhoods are bigger (square footage) than the southside districts that dwarf them in 911 calls.
4. In these predominantly white neighborhoods that have less crime, less 911 calls, and less police officers assigned there...... they very seldom (if ever) get any outside assistance by way of additional manpower allocated to supplement their districts. Predominantly african-american neighborhoods (that already have more police officers assigned to them in the first place), receive a multitude of additional officers through VRI, VRE, tactical teams, narcotics teams, gang teams, CTA special employment, etc. This is EVERY DAY. Often, an area that would be covered by a single beat car will have 4 or more outside units actively patrolling that beat through VRI alone. In some cases, these additional units will double or even triple the number of officers that are assigned to the ENTIRE district (and remember, these are districts that already have more officers assigned to them in the first place). These extra cars often respond to the in progress emergency calls while the district cars are doing reports that needs to be done.
I could go on, but I am probably only telling all of us (who do not buy into the biased media bullshit to begin with) what we already know. They want to give the appearance that there is a lack of police service to african-american neighborhoods because the flavor of the day is that black lives do not matter. The reality is, these neighborhoods get the most service. But this is why media is dead. There are no more journalists trying to actually report and inform the public anymore. They are all biased agenda based pieces of a machine whos only purpose is to struggle to keep themselves relevant and increase their profits through keeping the public in a state of panic and crisis and thereby maintaining viewership. They have all basically whored out any shred of integrity they might have had a long time ago.
Don't place all the blame on the citizens. When the courts continue to release these animals, it would cause a lot of concerned taxpayers to simply shut down, with an attitude of 'as long as it doesn't personally affect me, I'm not getting involved.' Lots of cops have adopted the same culture/attitude over the years. It's called urban survival.
