One Down, Anita to Go

It's looking more and more like Anita is the next domino to fall. She's an elected official, not an at-will superintendent, so it will be harder, but not impossible. And she's fighting back:
  • Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez issued a fiery response Thursday after two Cook County Board commissioners called for her to explain the time it took to bring charges against a Chicago cop who shot Laquan McDonald 16 times.

“That’s disgusting, it’s degrading. It’s degrading to the criminal justice system,” Alvarez said. “The case is pending right now, and I think it’s disgusting what they’re trying to do, to turn this into their own political game. And I think that’s exactly what’s happening here.”

Cook County Commissioners John Fritchey and Jesus “Chuy” Garcia called upon Alvarez to explain the 13 months it took her to charge Chicago Police Officer [...] with murder.
Sometimes it takes that long. We don't recall any of these aldercreatures or commissioners bitching when it took how many years for the Koschman case to come to its sad conclusion? Double standards seem to be the order of the day around these parts - but when hasn't that been so?

Her appearance on WTTW's Chicago Tonight earlier this week was a disaster, a dissembling politician making every argument to spare her job in the next election. Her "explanation" of how she decided to drop the charges against a police officer's assailant was ludicrous and flies in the face of Illinois Law, which has no provision at all for the seriousness of an injury to a police officer.

The FOP should decline to ever endorse her for office again and should retroactively rescind any endorsement given in the past if it exists.

Incompetent people always get nuts when they are found out.

Sorry Chicago deserves better.

Next time, instead of voting for diversity or "ethnic background", vote for competence.

Same with those who say the next President should be a woman. The next President should be competent - who cares what gender, race, or religion they are.

What could this officer do now? Why couldnt the officer sue? This felony crime actually occurred so there needs to be appropriate charges filed.

What an ignorant and awful person. Such a fucking hypocrite she is. She says early in the interview how she knows how to prosecute and knows how to take care of victims and then gives a bs answer why she dropped charges on an aggravated battery charge against an officer. Fop better not endorse her. The police need to let their union know they do not support a hypocrite who lets felons go for no particular reason.

Sad but in the case of the PO who had the felony charges dropped against his attacker, just as in the case of the PO who took ten days for playing sweet home Alabama, both refused FOP' s advise and help, fearing repercussions from the Department. True.
I only wish that ASSHOLES popped me and they dropped the charges.
Instead of the Ghetto lottery, I would be the first winner of the Edison Park lottery, both the City and the county would be paying me enough for my early retirement.

If she resigns, what kind of new mess does that bring down? A special election? An appointed hack?

Thugs and bangers get slaps on the wrist.
Release them and let them terrorize their neighborhoods.
Solid citizens get hammered.

It is going to take more than throwing 2 or 3 clowns out.

Hey SCC, don't know if there is any truth to this but maybe you can find out if there is, since the media wont go ask GARY , plus maybe some one can chime in to verify .. but it seems that Gary had gone into 9.5's office after this-( when charges were dropped) and they went at it , because apparently Gary was defending the/his department, was kicked out of the office, and came yet again for round 2 , apparently questioning the mayor on how could he allow Alvarez to drop charges against the assault/battery to one of his officers and then the outcome was where he left steaming and as we saw ,Rahmy the commy who looked rather perturbed on camera saying he asked for the Sup to resign..mind you, days after Gary was confident in saying that the mayor assured him that he had his back....maybe somebody can confirm this?

Anita better be prepared to pay extra fees for those big bags under her eyes if she plans on flying anywhere soon!

And hmm, if you watch the tape, she says she consulted with the police dept. about dropping the charges against the poet who punched the copper. Why doesn't she let the poet punch her and see what she thinks then?

I would think blurry vision in the aftermath of the assault would be considered pretty harmful.

Anita has always hated the police, going back to her days in the "Integrity Unit" under Lil Dick Daley, later to become King Richard II. However, on this one, SHE is the victim. Rahm is famous for his ruthless political nature. He was part of the squad of Elitists who would intimidate and threaten on behalf of Bill and Hillary. Some have gone into journalism,(George Stephanopolis) while others are just making millions with hedge funds.(Bill Daley) So when Rahm realized he had a career ending video as he faced a run-off, he probably called his contacts at Department of Justice, and they told Anita to back-off. Rahm liked to brag about never letting a crisis go to waste, and he used this one to keep his job; Anita and McCarthy were just collateral damage.

I am not a fan of Alvarez, but she is caught in a vicious circle. The black community wants every crime solved and the killings to stop, but they follow the gangs and observe the "no snitch" policy when it comes to cooperating with police.

The courts have had to ban the use of cell phones in courthouses where criminal trials are conducted because the gangs are photographing jurors and witnesses. Toni Preckwinkle is angry because prosecutors and judges are imposing high bonds or no bonds, so pretrial detainees are sitting in jail while awaiting trial -- something that the general society ought to approve of, but Toni wants to set the scum free and save the cost of housing the trash. Other judges issue to many bonds because the jail cannot hold all of the criminal suspects.

Maybe the police department should boycott the States Attorney's office by not seeking felony charges unless it is a police officer or police family victim. They never want to approve charges anyway. What if the public found out how many felony approvals are denied by the ASAs. I believe they are told to blow off any felony charges that they can and they will. Ask any working detective.
Maybe felony review should be disbanded and just go back to the old way of calling the area and having a detective approve the charges if he thought there was a case. The only reason we have felony review today is that States Attorney Bernard Carey to Old man Daley that if he let the states attorneys approve charges instead of the detectives it would make life easier for him and Daley by having less cases to work and therefore less headaches. That is where the theory "Small arrests, small problems. Big arrests, big problems was conceived.
There is no state law that states you have to have felony review.
Maybe that nitwit Karen Lewis will hire Anita as a school teacher. They can supervise the glee club.

Having said that, the voters got what they deserved,

AFAIK, prosecutorial discretion is ABSOLUTE. It's that way to prevent political influence in that office (even though it often leads to just that).

My understanding is that Anita could watch Garry pull out his pistol and put one between the Racoon's eyes and laugh about it and not charge Garry. Absent money or political favors changing hands, pretty much the public's only recourse is at the polls the next time up. She can't be removed for that.

Even though it is a noble goal, getting rid of Anita is more easily accomplished at the polls than through the courts. This is especially true now that the Demorats appear to be eating each other. Kinda like shooting rats at the city dump which I did as a yute!

Not sure that Toni Preckwinkle's "little Foxx in the henhouse" would be an improvement. She seems to be a "soft on crime" liberal and has stated that there are "too many AA men" in jail. Looking at the crime rates in the AA community, some of them need to be in jail.

Would "soft on crime" little Foxx want to prosecute gun owners who use their weapons in self defense?

I'd like to see someone from the GOP run for this office.

There is no room for this liberal ideology in Alverez's position. She just admitted that she let an offender go for Aggravated battery to the Police. A felony. Basically saying f*ck the police. Seek out a brave warrior. One who know the law.

A cloud of death covers Chicago. Only a great warrior can lift that cloud of death. A warrior who can out-talk the double tongues with words of iron.

Words of iron cannot be twisted or burned. The Arrow of Justice is forged with the words of iron, not the laughs of the Hyena or the snake-talk of the Raccoon-Eyes. The Arrow of Justice can pierce through anything.

The truth is there. Ten Bears has spoken.
