Poor Guy

Rumor started up that McCompStat was still showing up at work, locking the door to his office, and burning incense along with sensitive files showing the true crime numbers. The Sun Times attempts to dispel these stories:
  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel sent his $260,044-a-year Police Supt. Garry McCarthy packing with just one month’s salary — roughly $21,670.

“Garry McCarthy was relieved of his duties on December 1, 2015, and is being paid until the end of this month through vacation days he earned, as required by state law,” Kelley Quinn, Emanuel’s communications director, wrote in an email in response to a Freedom of Information request from the Chicago Sun-Times.

“He will have two remaining vacation days at the end of 2015 and has no severance package.”
The Sun Times further outlines just how bad Garry got punked:
  • The $21,670 in exit pay given to McCarthy pales by comparison to the $291,662 golden parachute offered to former Chicago Schools CEO Jean-Claude Brizard.
So word is he's waiting for a high-profile security job, either with the NFL or the NHL.

So the guy is showing up to headquarters in his black SUV with his vest on and bitches loud enough for all to hear in the parking lot on how his boss screwed him?

Welcome to the city of Chicago. Now you know how it feels when you screwed us over. Not so nice when your on the receiving side is it? Don't worry, your old boss is we'll be looking for a new job too.

Stop acting like he was "punked". The truth of the matter is that he was fired and that he will get a deputy chief spot with the NFL thanks to to success of the 2015 draft.

Escalante proved he wasn't the man for the job by not changing the locks on the office door.
McArrogant should not have been permitted back in the building. His personal effects should have been delivered to his home, the office computers should have been secured and the department vehicle should have been retrieved.
If it's shown that McJobApplicant altered department records or conducted any business at all from that office once he was fired, Escalante should bear the brunt of it.
The department is UNDER INVESTIGATION, yet the fired head of the department was given unfettered access. It's not just unprofessional; it may be criminal.

No contract?

People at that professional level ALWAYS have a contract. If you do not you either are too stupid to use a good lawyer, or you have a too stupid lawyer.

I don't recall, but I'm going to assume Garry was working without a contract?

I am sure if he only got one-month's pay, he must have also gotten some "promise" for a solid job, otherwise, he would be singing like a bird about all Chicago's shortcomings.

If you really think he only got the $21,000, then let's see what happens when the money runs out.

Look at the personality of McCarthy. Do you REALLY think that he would not go on any of the media and give a first-hand account of what he thought of Chicago (and its politicians)?

PLUS, look how they shut up everyone in the ghetto. Oh, your son died, well, don't criticize us, here's $5,000,000.

The bigger question about McCarthy is, how did they take care of him to keep him quiet?

Cash? Job? Gotta be something.

He should have insisted on a contract. The "I serve at the pleasure of the Mayor" play book cost him some $$. Oh well

Yes, and only the prospect of some great job will keep Garys mouth shut, for I believe he could do great damage to the mayor.

"The $21,670 in exit pay given to McCarthy..."

Reality check --

More money than a lot of people see in a year -- and they never have that much all at one time, either.

He's doing just fine.

Why would the NFL or NHL even consider this lying asshat. He is the type to drop twenty pucks on the ice and say it was a soccer player who did it all the while having dinner with the NBA to get a better job bragging how he single handedly crushed soccer from being more popular than basketball.

There is no comstat that they would allow him to manipulate. Maybe he can teach NFL players how to beat their significant others and get away wit it. We know he has experience.

Maybe he can explain how pizza tastes better in triangles than in squares. He still can't get over how we eat our pizza as compared to slices in the big apple.

Either way at least I won't have to hear him compare himself to Tom Sellec from blue bloods anymore.

Hey Gun Magnet, do you still like apples? How about those apples!

Now i wonder if that merit list of sergeants that flied through was an actual pay off?

No FOP grievance anymore because luckily a bunch more hires were ponied up by City Hall? Meaning The Alderman changed budget number easily to fix this obvious illegal promotion.

The City spent around 50k in training these merit hacks yet know one seem to care.

NO FOIA by FOP who put in these ass hats? DEAN??? or the kid who was a cook in the army?Or shakey Kilmer?

Well at least the patted themselves on their back for doing their job for

He had a contract No one relocates from New York without a contract. Only reason prior Supts, beside Jody, didnt have a contract was they were sworn CPD personal
Check the Tribune archives. When Rahm was asked if McCarthy was to get paid $300,000 like Jody he responded by saying it wasnt decided yet and that it was currently being discussed in his CONTRACT talks.
