Hotel Killing

Gee, it's a good thing this didn't happen at a hotel that caters to one of the larger economic engines of the city:
  • A 25-year-old man was shot to death inside a Hyatt Regency hotel at McCormick Place in the South Loop neighborhood early Saturday, police said.

Courtney Taylor, of the 1600 block of South Paulina Street, was in a group of several men during a birthday party in the hotel lobby when a male attacker pulled out a gun and fired shots, police said.

Taylor suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one was in custody as of early Saturday.
Oh wait...that is one of the hotels. We can only imagine the phone calls going back-and-forth after this went down.

"in a group of several men during a birthday party in the hotel lobby..."

In a group of several men being ejected from the hotel after an excessively loud and "rowdy" party elsewhere in the building. Didn't get 'em out of the lobby fast enough, I guess.

Some babymama-of-adult crying, "How this happen here? This not Englewood."

Englewood is wherever you choose to take it...

Some of the smaller units run hot and the thermal overload embedded in the motor windings kicks out. They are mostly "self-resetting," though. Take the shred unit off the basket and blow a little fan on it for 30 minutes and it kicks back in.

If you read between the lines, on most of these hotel incidents, you will discover a trend. And that trend is that many young future Democrats, for various reasons, choose to ParTay outside of their Hoods. The trend started some years ago with young "Gangstas" cruising the 018th Dist. at night, hitting on young, naive female tourists. Now they rent rooms to ParTay on the weekends, texting invitations and the cost. What these young future Poets and Artists fail to realize is that as with bed bugs, even if you change the sheets, the infestation follows if it is the same bed. So, when they come North, they bring their Chicago/E-Wood Values with them. And the usual inability to communicate and lack of conflict resolution skills results in Chicago Values Violence. You need to look into their souls and see the artists and poets that they really could be. Baby"G"

I heard this go out by the Dispatcher after the 911 call came in. I've search the Trib, Slum-Times, and DNAinfo and none have the story up yet. The detective on scene has it as a suicide, not as a homicide.

OT- But in need of clarification. Regarding places I am not allowed to carry concealed, I understand that federal buildings, post office properties, rapid transit, etc., it is verboten. My question is a regular store or restaurant (that doesn't derive the majority of income from liquor sales), but has one of the highly effective GFZ signs near the entrance. I was led to believe that is merely a request from the owner and he can require me to either disarm or leave the premises, but there would be no legal repercussions if I didn't see the sign and entered said business. Now I'm hearing that I will be committing a misdemeanor offense and could possibly have my license revoked. Which is true?

A fatal shooting in the Hyatt. An armed robbery at the Congress a week ago. Does this indicate a larger crime problem in the South Loop?
The area truly is a buffer between the south side communities and downtown and you get a mix of people there on the street.
Most won't ride the red line south of Roosevelt and there's usually a few sketchy characters around there already.
Sounds like these hotels really need to lock it down. Have security in the lobby, make any entrance other than the lobby key card only, etc. etc.

25th District Drama

Lots and lots of drama in 025. This station is cursed because it used to be an American Indian burial grounds.

1. A p.o. calls a very unpopular sgt and leaves a voice mail. Not just any voice mail. The p.o. tells the sgt. that he knows where he lives and he is going to kill him. A report is generated, IAD is called in, a CR# is generated and the sgt. wants to press charges. Oh yeah, the p.o. in question is also a fto.

2. An officer retired a couple weeks ago. He cleaned out his locker and went to use the bathroom. When he came back some of his valuables are gone. As in stolen. Way to go jackass. Is this the way an officers last day should end. Only in 025.

3. A married p.o. and his ghetto ass girlfriend. Uh I am not going to go there. But in two weeks a cr# may be generated then everyone will know that someone who presents themselves as squeaky clean is neither squeaky nor clean. But dirty. U do know that we have some p.o.'s with questionable associations right?

I would like to weigh in on all this talk of "do nothing" and "stay fetal". In my opinion, people in our job have been working under a misconception all these years about what constitutes "work". To some, "work" meant running around stopping gangbangers, making arrests, movers, whatever. Which is fine.

But what we are doing now, what is called "fetal", is still something. Last time I checked, even being fetal means at a bare minimum that you are at work on time, dressed in your uniform, getting your keys and radio, going out on the street and still exposing yourselves by being out there and answering calls. You are at work. You are working. And it is still exhausting and stressful.

So let no one of us feel guilty about the carnage going on here, and let there be no talk of dogs or dinosaurs or whatever among us. We serve at the behest of the community and their elected delegates, the city councilmen and mayor. And the state of things now is how they want it. The lawmakers may not have realized this ongoing bloodbath would be the result of certain changes in law and policy, i.e. ISRs or de-escalation. But there it is.

We are not fetal. We are still at work, we are on the street still assisting the good people who may need help, we are still riding on calls and assisting other officers.

Officers need to adapt to new changes and adjust their thinking. This is no longer a game of hunter (us) and hunted (the criminal). The defeat and surrender of law and order in Chicago is not your defeat, my comrades, we have been stabbed in the back by the legislators beholden to street gangs for financing and votes, and the judiciary that fails to prosecute and jail the animals we catch.

The sad thing is that all you white officers working in the ghetto districts catching bad guys, being proactive, locking them up, your efforts were not supported or appreciated by the very inhabitants of the neighborhood you were making safer, because any police action you take is seen as oppressing and racist. Even stopping someone for running a stop sign is a problem. The fact is the majority of inhabitants in vast swathes of the city think that they don't want the police, don't want to be policed, think the laws are written to keep them down, and that the white police officer is the devil. Your zeal and energy should be redirected into neighborhoods where the residents appreciate and support you. As of now, the ghetto deserves not one bit of your policing efforts. We should literally be sitting, watching, and duly documenting all the chaos. And that is all.

Do the decent people who still live and work in Chicago deserve to be cut adrift and left to defend themselves? We officers don't think so, because we signed up to defend them. The people of Chicago are still our own relatives, friends, family, girlfriends, etc. Who is going to help and watch over them if we do not? Where there is a vacuum, will inevitably be filled. Filled by who or what remains to be seen. CCW holders, vigilantes, organized teams of concerned citizens?

The problem is, I'm so old and worn out now, nothing stays in my pockets anymore because of the holes, and the crotch on these 80/20s is blown out. Why does the crotch always wear out first?

Its about time we get serious. The shooter violated those stickers which are prominently displayed at the entrances. The little red line with the slash on the Beretta 92, the official sidearm of the Armed forces of the United States, was designed to remind the sixth grade level achieving graduates of the public schools this is a gun free zone. This gun free zone is comforting as it reminds ganstas and jihadists alike that the sheep are unarmed and ready to slaughter.

Those catered to the most by government are the ones who single handedly seem to destroy everything, everywhere each and everyday. You can't even enjoy a hotel stay in Chicago without local thugs shooting up the place like a Mumbai style hotel terror attack.

Lets us not forget all those billions of tax dollars and bonds funding crooked connected contracts on the McCormick place expansion. Leave it to the former ABLA public housing thugs from "The Village" or "The Vill" to destroy all the hard work and accomplishments to bring back economic vitality in the form of tourism and convention business to the south loop. The Vill" thugs are going upscale shooting up convention centers. Hillary says: Its takes the village to destroy the convention and tourism business.

No story here, move along from this citizen reader. This stuff happens mostly on the south side and west side historically. NOW, it happens at some time EVERYWHERE. And before all you liberals get exxcited about guns, remember this; gun availability plays a role no doubt but you have gerations of liberal welfare recipients who now see that those wonderful public schools have not educated them in any way shape or manner to support themseleves. There is a culture of underclass people the Trib wrote about in those 3 or 4 part series as they used to do years ago putting forth the premise that there has been a culture born into disfunctional social situations and you expect them to behave like civilized society but they don't. They want things, lifestyles and all the kinds of relationships they see that others have and they are simply stuck in place. And their place is crap so why do we not expect social rebellion? To my mother and her sister and other liberals who read this site: when you take social responsility from people and make life a government entitlement at this or that government office, you breed social irresponsibility; this is what we see growing across this nation. Now figure out a new government program we can all pay for to fix the problem great liberal minds have created. Thanks for nothing.

off topic-Officers denied VRI because they didn't have a quota for activity are to call FOP concerning inpending lawsuit, many officers would be elgible for many years of backpay.FOP needs to find out what supervisor or supervisors enforced this illegal tactic and be accountable!

Here's what I've heard from an employee of the Hyatt where the murder occurred:
Numerous rooms (12, I've been told) were rented for an 'event', all paid for in cash.
According to the employee, numerous 'unsavory' people showed up at the 'event,' people who appeared to be pimps, prostitutes, and drug dealers. Not all of the them, but a good portion of them.
(one would think that if paying for a large block of rooms wasn't a tipoff, Hyatt management there would have hired on some extra security...I'm just sayin'.)
The young man who was killed was attempting to stop a shoot out in the lobby between two armed men, begging them to put away their firearms. They proceeded to shoot at each other AROUND the victim, who stood between them, and...well, you know the rest. It doesn't appear that the deceased was doing anything except attempting to play the role of peacekeeper...without success.

Ok folks, now is the time to wake up! The mayor is lying to the taxpayers and the media, when is he going to be held accountable for the downward spiral this city is in. The mayor can't keep blaming it on "previous administrations", because he was in with that thief too and was aware of what was going on. If Daley pulled the wool over Rahm's eyes, then Rahm is either too stupid or too dishonest to remain as mayor of this city for the next 3 years.
We all see who the perpetrators of the crime and violence are, when will the media show the truth. It is a small segment of society that is draining this country of financial resources as well as the safety which we all deserve. Forget this nonsensical political correctness and call out those responsible for the death and destruction. In no way do we owe anyone or any segment of society anything for what occurred in the 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900's. Changes have been made and continue to be made. For those that continue to invoke the manner in which their ancestors were treated, STOP! Grow up and take responsibility for what is occurring in your lives right now, stop dragging this country down with your refusals to work and support your families. The continued dependence on government give aways must stop. Take pride in yourselves and your communities.

this is a wake up call for the hotel, they want to keep generating money by catering to certain groups who have no regard for each other period. The need to be equal is very important to the hospitality industry because if certain groups think that you are discriminating this is against the law, doesn't matter if a human life was taken. these party planners that work for these hotels just need to generate money and many promoters who are just dog ass gangbangers with no legitimate business address or tax numbers go to these hotels and say that they are planning a re-union with maybe 100 people and full well aware that 500 are showing up, then you have UNARMED SECURITY on top of this, and this is Rick Simons' United Security that runs the show there.

"How did this happen? Here? This ain’t Englewood!”

I was wondering the same thing. After all, sociopathic behavior is defined strictly in terms of geography.Everybody knows that! A sociopath can step outside of a neighborhood like Englewood and instantly lose his criminality. He can socialize and enjoy the fruits of modern civilization with great charm and ease.Once he crosses back across the border though, he regresses. It's like a light switch. And here's the question: Why wasn't the Hyatt's Socio Light Switch mechanism not working properly?Someone has to pay millions for this or else our fine city might be embarrassed nationally or something.

If your carrying and your legal and your not the kinda person who has to let the
World no you have a gun on then who fucking cares what the sign says I'm sure
The local restaurant or other establishments are gonna search you at the door
Or make you walk thrrough a metal detector so who cares put your gun on go eat
Or what ever your gonna do and if the place gets robbed or something else happens
Then take appropriate action trust nobody is gonna say " we were getting held up
t gun point and this guy with a valid conceal carry lic got up from his table and
Effectively was able to confront the offender by drawing his concealed weapon and
Ending the threat " oh wait this is Chicago only criminals can carry guns nvm

Or perp.
Or precinct.
Or forthwith.
And we don't request a bus when we want an ambulance at the scene.

Some babymama-of-adult crying, "How this happen here? This not Englewood."

Englewood is wherever you choose to take it...

1/24/2016 12:58:00 AM

Englewood is not like a suitcase they carry with them. It is in them. It is on them and in them and they cannot wash it off because they do not want to. They celebrate it. They want to have it as their identity. It courses through their veins.

Until the rest of society treats "Englewood" like the disease it is, it will get worse. Until Hollywood wakes up and decides to put a bright light on how wrong this is, it will grow. Until the politicians stop pandering to this cancer, it will keep the rest of us from enjoying any urban area.

When will we the people say enough to this blight on our Country and cut it out?

It seems the Department is in trouble for not paying Fair Labor Standards Act FLSA overtime for CHA, VRI, VRE, "parks" ect. FLSA requires the payment rate for overtime to be be calculate based upon "total" compensation (Duty availability, uniform, ect.) It seems this was done intentionally, willfully and wantonly for years. See FLSA Act, perpendicularly section 7(k) and the definitions, if you do not believe me. Does anyone know the name of the Law Firm involved in the suit? My FLSA rate on my pay stubs is about two-dollars more an hour. That's 16-dollars more a day at VRI/VRE.

Mr. Mayor, this is just the beginning. You have allowed this city to be taken over by the mob mentality of the BLM and the phoney recordings and a priest who openly breaks his vows with his girlfriend seen riding in his convertible, if the arch diocese they would have tossed his pandering ads out long ago. These paragons of virtue and their minions have caused you to turn your back on the only people that can prevent this city from turning into another Detroit. I don't need to go into detail about how you have caused the destruction of this once great Police Department from the chronic manpower shortage you and your predecessor presided over to the thanksgiving of the Police with new ridiculous rules and forms. If you had an ounce of sense you would be trying to make peace with the rank and file of this department and and call out the rabble trousers who along with your caving in to them has caused the problems you now see and will see magnified this summer by a factor of 10. When convention and tourism business becomes a thing of the past and major corporations start moving out maybe you can replace them with a new BLM headquarters.
Wake up before it is too late Mr. Mayor, the Police are not the Problem, your former constituents who now call fir your ouster are the Problem. Stevie Wonder could see this, why the he'll can't you. Grow a set.

I am stuck living in this city for family reasons. There are many citizens that support us. Should we throw them to the wolves, too? I have advised everyone who is concerned to purchase a firearm and take classes, then get their CCL. But not everyone wants to do that. It is a heavy responsibility and liability issue. So people that gloat that they never buy anything in Chicago and left for greener pastures, that's great for you. But who is going to contribute to the economy and tax base when you all leave or ship elsewhere and we are left behind? We include some of your own family and friends, so please think clearly about your responses to this.

I could be professional, standing at ease or at attention. No handshake. Never.

I shook this man's hand once, a long time ago (2002, maybe), when I was assigned to work security for him during his first run for office. He was reluctant to shake my extended hand, but I didn't pull away, so he gave me the limp 'princess' handshake.
