Buy a Gun

  • Illinois residents have been on a gun-buying binge.

In December, the Illinois State Police did more than 60,000 background checks on firearms purchasers — an all-time record for any month in Illinois.

Last June, August and November all posted records for those months.

And on post-Thanksgiving’s Black Friday, Nov. 27, more than 5,000 background checks were done for gun sales — the most ever for a single day in Illinois.
Nice to see Illinois gun owners doing their part.

You have a chance now that carry is allowed in Chicago.
And if the CPD is going to remain fetal, everyone needs to look out for themselves and those they love.

I haven't started my shopping yet. A nice little revolver will do. Time to get a concealed carry license too. I like being able to take a walk around in the evening without having to worry about being assaulted by a mouth breather.

Women's rights and the second amendment work together nicely.

Armed and Dangerous!

Well shit... with all those dangerous guns being purchased, surely we're about to see a rise in illegal shootings by legal gun owners. Right? Oh wait... I have common sense, so I know that's not where the illegal shooting numbers come from. Hopefully these new gun owners get to use their guns on the criminal predators roaming our streets. An armed victim has a good chance of not being a victim at all. Keep buying guns and carry everywhere you can, not just the "dangerous" areas. Fight back against the criminals to give them something to think about the next time they want to rob someone. If they start getting shot, they'll change their ways or lose the ability to commit more crimes. We all know cook county isn't locking them up for more than a few days of they're caught. We all know our judges will do everything they can to let the bad guy go free. Justice is best served swiftly, and what's swifter than an immediate response from the intended victim?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as l've managed to raise 3 children but have no experience with weapons.

I encourage and strongly suggest all citizens that legally qualify to carry a concealed firearm to do so. In Chicago and Illinois we live in the most violent city and state in America. Most Chicago and Illinois politicians are in the process of releasing criminals from jail and are even outspoken about it. Chicago is a Sanctuary city and we don't even know who is here walking among us. When you go to the voting polls know what the candidates stand for. Respectably, a concerned Police Officer.

As an officer I strongly encourage this! The police are busy and extremely short handed, protect yourself, protect your loved ones, but please practice make sure double tap head and chest shot, dirt naps to criminals bury them and move on! May God bless the citizens that help the police! When you have seconds the police will be there in minutes, think about that! How many are we short in Chicago rahm? How many?

rahm has been very quiet lately, johnny where is Charlie busy counting that $350.00 per hour you delved into taxpayers funding to give him rahm? great money skills correct mayor?

You can't buy a firearm in a state that you don't reside in. Buy a nice little 38 special 5 shot revolver with a 2" barrel. Smith and Wesson called it the chief's special. Plenty of others make similar models. Nice litte weapon you can surprise skull man with when he tells you to give it up.

This is the new America, protect yourself and your family,as a matter of fact protect your neighborhoods also, police are stretched thin, the city is spending hundreds of millions in taxpayers dollars moving police on overtime from taxpaying areas to the areas that dislike police, where is "equal under the law"at! Certainly not in Chicago! Go ahead call your alder lackey, demand police services like west end of 008,022,016 watch the weak elected crumble under the weight of your call, the taxpayers are lemmings sheep to the slaughter join the NRA and arm your self teach your loved ones how to shoot looks like the John Wayne (RIP) wild west is coming back thanks to elected that have used the false narrative of police are bad felons are good!

Ok, here's an analogy to help the newbies on purchasing a gun. Let's say you have an eggplant, and you want to eat it. You open your drawer, but you don't have a knife to cut it with. So you go to the store, and you buy a knife. You take it out of the package, you wash it, and you cut the eggplant. Then you wash the knife again, and you put it away in a handy place, so you have it ready next time you want to cut an eggplant. Notice, this is a deadly weapon. You didn't cut your finger off. You didn't accidentally stab your kid. You treated it carefully, you took care of it, and you kept it close at hand, for the next eggplant.

Guns are exactly the same. You go, you buy it. You treat it carefully and you take care of it. And you KEEP IT HANDY, for the next...eggplant.

The nice thing with guns is, you can ask the people at the store you're buying it from how to use it, and they will GLADLY give you a long and detailed class, right there on the spot. You can ask all the questions you have, and they'll even give you a demonstration. You can even go back and practice using it there if they have a range. Try doing THAT with a kitchen knife.

If you don't have a gun and you want one, get a FOID and go buy it. Then get your CCW and carry it EVERYWHERE. Legally, of COURSE.

I would love to buy a few more guns before I run out of money or assume room temperature (whichever comes first).

For years when I was on the job, off the job and before I took the job I used to buy everything at Shore Galleries. Going back to the 70's. Siggy always gave me a fair deal along with Big Harvey and Mike. My first gun was a S&W model 27 with rubber grips. Paid $150.00 for it.

Have you been in there lately? To call it a ghost town is an insult to ghost towns! They used to have like a thousand guns in stock at all times. If they have more than 20 it is a lot now. The store looks like shit, no ammo, no reloading stuff, no knives (my other weakness)not even Dog food like I used to buy there.

They fired all the employees except one I think. Siggy's wife works in the office, and Mitch is never around. Why the heck are they even open?

I hated Ray O'Herron's and Midwest is too expensive and the counter help incompetant. Bells is closed (torn down). I refuse to go to the big box stores. Gander Mountain was great when they were in Wilmont, their new store sucks.

I do not get it. Shore is like 75 feet away from the biggest gun market in the state, cops came in there night and day. They were literally and should still be printing money. Then the auctions wiped out a bunch of my Clothing allowance money. A lot.

So what do I do now?

Do I need to register my firearm in Chicago?

Is there a Legal Municipal Code that forces me to go to 35th Street with it? Cause I have to break the CTA No Guns policy if I do.

Cause I just bought a 10mm Aero Rifle and brought it home today. It will go nicely with my 10mm Pistol.

To answer the only significant question in you post:

Q: "How can I prevent this from happening?"

A: Don't acquire a firearm.

Ever.

In fact, don't possess any object capable
of damaging flesh or bone.

And you might want to consider praying that your '3 children' got their brains from their great grandparents.

Get the gun.
You owe it to yourself in this era
of Public Safety cuts in order to
"re-allocate" those funds to keep
the "Catered-To Constituents"
in the urban liberal progressive
democrat fold...

Remember...
Protect yourself and your loved ones first and foremost.

You owe NO ONE any duty to come to THEIR defense.

NONE.

Every adult of fighting age is responsible for their own safety.

The knee-walking, dummy-crat, nanny-state gun grabbers
argue to the contrary in spite of having been roundly discredited
and proven full of shit.

Look around you...
If you were smart,
you'd be concerned.
VERY concerned.

So.
Are you motivated now to
take responsibility for
your own safety?

The Police can scarcely save themselves
let alone anybody else.

So don't bother wasting your time looking
this way.

Look toward city hall, spring-patch and d.c...
Your solutions are at these places.

Here is what I would like to know. ISP performs daily criminal and mental health background checks on all FOID card holders. see http://www.isp.state.il.us/media/pressdetails.cfm?ID=449 (2nd to last paragraph)

If this is the case, being that you need a FOID to own a firearm in Illinois, what point is it to have FFL perform a separate background check at time of purchase? Why not just have the FFL run a check on the state website for a valid FOID, just like they do with private purchase? I would think that it would save the ISP time and money.

You can buy a gun in ANY state you choose. But contrary to the anti-gun peoples lies, you cannot walk out the door with it or order it on the Internet and have it shipped to your home. It MUST go to a FFL in the state in which you live. I have bought guns via the Internet from as far away as Texas. But they all had to go to my FFL who calls me and tells me when to pick the gun up after the background check is completed.

I've bought my last 2 guns online. More and more people are doing this. There's really no reason to go into Shore or O'Herron's and pay higher prices and sales tax, when I can buy the same gun much cheaper online, pay no sales tax, and have it shipped to the FFL a few blocks from my house.
