Yeah, we really need some new FTO's. In 025 on afternoons, ones on nut leave and the other is hiding on the medical because she got kicked off days.

There's at least one person on the FTO list with 4 years on. I know not too many people are jumping to be FTOs, but 4 years is not enough time to be teaching anybody. Come on now!!

Off topic, I know, but here's another sneaky thing we have 9 1/2 and the crook council to thank for.......
When the red light camera ticket debacle went to court recently, a law suit, for affixing fines without due process and second notices, these basstards in the crook council immediately and QUIETLY removed from the tickets the RIGHT to due process AND the requirement for a second notice before affixing a fine....9 1/2 pays the crook council their "bonus" money, millions and millions, each and every year, and for this, they go along with every rotten and crooked scheme this little dictator can come up with.
When it was proven that the red light mess was a bribery-driven agenda for all concerned, along with the shortening of the yellow caution light timing, why oh why was that deal simply not just thrown out? Instead, we get more and more of these cameras, in ridiculous places, and their only purpose is to make money for this crook?
It is TIME for all to vote, city, state, federal, every single INCUMBENT out.....Dem or Repub......VOTE them OUT.....let them ALL know that the status quo is over.....may take a year or two....but they will get the Picture.....the career politician days are over.....
SCC, great about the ET'S and FTO's! How about our Pension? The Pension Board's last news letter suggested our Pension will be defunct in 6 years!!! Can we sue the city yet, as they did in New York and other cities across the US? And they were victorious!
Almost everyone that took the test made FTO maybe the brass should ask why no one wants that job?

Mobile crime lab is D-3 pay pensionable like all the mayors treasurers city clerk detail. The mayors even got 2 patrolman paid commanders pay which is pensionable no wonder pension going broke!

And the one on medical fell asleep at West Sub watching a prisoner. One nurse had to steer around her with the med cart. Took a video of her snoring away and posted it on You Tube. About as worthless as they come.
If you are an fto, that is God's way of telling you no one wants you as a partner. The fto on nut leave in 025 should be grateful for self knowledge.

Not everybody is a slow learner like you apparently are. If you don't have enough job knowledge to show someone that ropes after doing said job for 4 years, you're likely a moron. Also, we're not talking about building fission reactors here, we're talking about policing. It's not mind bending stuff.

I wouldn't want to be an FTO in this political climate. That being said, an above post comments on an FTO with 4 years on not being enough time on to train someone. I don't agree with that notion. If it is four years in a fast district, that is plenty of time on. When I came on I worked with an FTO for one week, he had over 20 years on, maybe his heart wasn't in it, and he was doing it for the extra pay. Didn't learn much in one week with him. They gave me a folder and told me to grade myself, of course I passed. Luckily, it was a busy district and the learning started after that, while working with aggressive officers who didn't have much more time on than me. I was grateful for them showing me the ropes, as other officers took the time to do the same for them before, and I did the same for guys coming on after me.
Amount of time on the job does not always mean a quality trainer, they need aggressive officers to do the job of FTO, it has to be in your heart. They need to weed out the FTO's with no motivation to teach. It's a tough job these days, and now I think I may know how that FTO felt over 20 years ago.

I would rather have a 4 year officer that is willing to train the right way. We have veteran FTO's that are dogs. It is a shame but the department will not take action against bad FTO's.

Lemme ask y'all a question on a title 9 ordinance if you all don't mind.
9-76-160A :Registration plates issued for a motor vehicle other than a motorcycle, trailer, semi-trailer or truck- tractor shall be attached to the front and rear of the vehicle.
Recently (Monday in fact) while I was in 025, I discovered 2 vehicles with no plates on them. Think it was around Laramie and Schubert if IIRC.
Around 29 parkers on EACH Vehicle from various members of 025.
Each time a set were written (Abandoned included) the ticket for Rear/Front Required was ISSUED Twice by the Issuing officer with the same Date and Time. Underlined on one was "Front Plate" and on the Second one "Rear Plate."
Now, my co-workers catch a ton of flack from time to time that a Parking Tickets Issued in Ward# thread hits SCC's Blog...and I've even granted that sometimes the complaints were legit...and kept my fingers off the keyboard and acknowledged by silence that the gripe is valid.
BUT SERIOUSLY? 1 ordinance violation twice on the same vehicle at the same time of day for 9 days over the course of a Month ???
And Abandoned Vehicle Tickets as well....
Does anyone see a problem with this besides Me?
Why not just get the vehicle TOWED and be done with it?
Oh...I left the vehicle alone. Didn't ticket it despite the fact I legally could have. Just reported it to my supervisors and the ward as suspicious vehicle with large # of tickets on it.

Come on Gene tell everyone you never saw anything like it cause you were never a Detective (in 30 plus years) and you have never passed a test given your position by political connections! Wonder why we are losing the race!

Most ftos on list have less than ten years. Less than 5 have more than 15 years on. Do you blame anyone ? Pro active police work is dead nowadays . Best thing fto's can do is keep them from getting their recruits getting fired while on probation or going to prison for dumb shit

Wrong. Roy was a dick in the old Area 4 back in the nineties. I worked with him.
Yeah and one guy made ET and FTO all in one swoop. How did the brain trusts miss that one?
The training issue is nothing new. I remember when the old temp sergeants were made training officers, and the patrol specialist program in the 80's. I think the FTO program is one thing the feds will or should look closely at. The department (at lower levels)has looked into things like adding additional training and a possible FTO merit pick for sergeant as added incentive. Nothing came about.
Gene Roy was partners with Kris Kato in early 90s on the violent side. Also Roy was promoted by rank order on the list of ALL promotions to Det, Sgt, and Lt. He was never merit. Just saying

Agreed how many that are maxed have the age stay "because I want the overtime" what kind of idiots do this? Secondly look up Detroit's bankruptcy the police did ok collecting their pensions, but they had to "open the books" and sell sell sell many hidden items! How much would a forensic audit reveal? How many would be on the prison bus to 219 Dearborn? They go bankrupt they go to jail we get on pensions! Winning! Dean are you watching this? Mike Lappe what do you say? Did you find out who gave the 60 million to the daley vanecko venture or will the feds have to examine this trail?

I am tired of reading about pension payment cry babies... I did some shit, like bought real estate... every month I get $3,000 from my 2 properties.
Also... you can not compare Chicago to other places, Chicago is a shithole, even though it sound logical to do the comparison--- shit don't makes sense in the Chi. highest tax rate, and is still a shithole.
