One Armed Bandit
- Authorities say a 17-year-old had his arm torn off after a man he was allegedly trying to steal sneakers from hit him with a sport utility vehicle, pinning him against a fence in Brooklyn.
WNBC-TV says it happened Friday afternoon in the Canarsie neighborhood after the boy arranged to meet a 39-year-old man to purchase a pair of Air Jordan sneakers.
Authorities say that once the teenager was inside the man's car, the boy pulled out a gun, took the shoes and walked off.
Surveillance video shows the SUV speeding up behind the teen and running him down.
Investigators say the teenager was being treated at a hospital.
Police say charges were pending against the driver Friday.
Charges pending? How about a medal? Or a thank you letter. It's not like he killed the thief. And he was armed....well, one-armed now.

If you are ever involved in investigating a similar case, please be very careful, and do not make any mistakes that could cause the charges to be thrown out. It would be a shame if you forgot to Mirandize or Illegally Searched the suspect and his possessions. Yeah, a real pity.

The details have changed a little from when I read this last night in the NY Post (via Drudge Link), which still has more information than the Trib article, like names and what all occurred; Philippe Pierre, 39, and the Obama son, 17 yo Zachary Sam.
But the 'Victim', Philippe Pierre, is now being charged with attempted murder. That's fricken bogus, hope he gets a good jury. Oh well, at least the young thief is getting charged too; Robbery and Criminal Possession Of A Weapon. (but shouldn't that be: Unarmed Robbery)

It's a story of hood rat -vs- hood rat. Anyone who "sells shoes on Craig's list" to "help support his family" (insert cough) should be read as " selling lifted goods" ..... Next the "buyer" who happens to gave a gun to get what he wants and lift the shoes off the "seller". If the survives he'll continue the thug life with one arm and a permanent disability check courtesy of the tax payers. Teenage 1 arm thug will have a low life attorney at his bedside suggesting suing the drivers car insurance ( if he has insurance) for hundreds of thousands. Insurance costs rise for the law abiding due to these life-long idiots.

This looks like a lock for a workers' comp claim. Injured on the job, unable to continue in chosen profession. Can't even load his own gun any longer and may required a trained service animal for assistance. Can't run, shoot and hold his pants up simultaneously. Gives him the money!!!

I believe, that anyone who breaks the law should face the wrath of it The driver should be more experienced and call the police. The driver is not the only one in this country that has ever been rob, he should have walked away.
