ISP Gun Seizures

  • Illinois State Police seized seven guns in the first week of their new Chicago Expressway Anti-Violence Surge (CEASe), which was created to combat shootings on Chicago expressways.

State troopers seized seven guns, including one high powered rifle, and made 27 arrests in first week of CEASe, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.
Of course, if this is what they're finding, can you imagine what's actually running through the expressway system on a daily basis? Probably something like Eric Holder's operation down at the Mexican border.

probably only one gun from some gangbanger. betcha the high powered rifle was from some poor sap from indiana heading up to wisconsin to go hunting. but the numbers look good in the stats! sounds good-'high powered rifle". wasn't an AR or they would have been yelling assault weapon. probably just some hard working guy's deer rifle in the back seat.
one of the last loads of stuff from our home in the chicago area enroute to our retirement cabin in the northwoods consisted of odds and ends, my numerous rifles/shotguns/handguns and my daughter's early years "care bear" collection.
20 some year old daughter was in the back seat and said "Dad, don't get stopped by the police, i'd hate for them to search the car and find 'care bears' and assault rifles", you'd be embarrassed to go back to the chicago area and tell they guys your worked with what happened.

Is it true that homicides on the freeways don't count against the city of Chicago?

That the dead are not part of Chicagos toll?

Who comes up with these acronyms for the operations anyway? How much time and money do they waste on that fucking useless bulshit?

Forget the acronyms - just get to work. Bring back wood shampoos for those who get out of line.

Anyone know where Holder hangs his hat? Heard a rumor that he is now a liar for a Wall St. Firm (you know , the people that Obummer said he would accountable for the 2008 market crash.)

Nice work ISP. But remember, while we get thrown under the bus, Rauner will throw you under an 18 wheeler semi and Madigan will have Little Lisa order the driver to back up and run you over a second time.

From a citizen reader/you are falling into the too many guns on the street trap. I hear this from the liberal problem solvers all the time. If we could just ban guns we would end gun crimes. Seven guns is nothing. It could have been 200,the number is not important. It is how many heads were collected and keeping them locked up. It is not the guns, it is the people running loose on the streets of Chicago who are the problem. We would rather read seven guns were taken off the street and 350 heads were locked up. Its like public transportaion isn't the problem, it is the riders who are pissing in the cars, panhandling and assaulting other riders or using the CTA for shelter.

C'mon SCC, what they are mostly "finding" is Billy Bob coming up from Arkansas OTW to MN. to visit his sick aunt and doesnt have his duck gun properly stowed cause he never knew of such a Law. That or some poor CCW holder that didnt find out before traveling that IL. doesnt recognize other states. Then they compound their error by being honest on the stop, "hey the fucking Bosses say they need to find guns".

Yaknow next you'll tell me these Tac Hero gun table pictures are all from La Cosa Nostra/Mexican cartel gang leader meetings instead of some poor fireman's domestic where he gets his collection seized.

I doubt the Smokies are allowing racial profiling or illegal car searches. Nor are the bad guys stupid enough to tell on themselves.

Seven in a week, my KompfStäch Kompūtur says that's equates to a daily average of one a day.
Unfortunately, there's probably around 1,000,000 vehicles that travel along each way of the I-94 Dan Ryan Death Corridor every day.
If we don't get credit for the recovered pistolas, how about box 2 on those 365 submitted iSR's ?
Oh wait, never mind... don't want no part of that.
Carry on ISP, and please be safe.

Of course, if they had left the ISP at proper staffing levels, there would be no need for this "push".
Both the current and former governors are guilty of diverting the ISP funding.

This initiative would not be possible without the leadership of Leo Schmitz, after all he did command the Gang Unit and rode up and down the expressways in his unmarked with a rifle in it. All kidding aside, Leo is a good guy with a great heart. I remember when the ISP took over the expressways many years back, they had a big problem with stopping the off duty police speeding on the x ways, many disagreements took place but they finally realized that we were their backup out there.

Moving from Madison, WI to Toledo, OH due to job loss, I had my entire gun collection in the trunk. That car was riding low, let me tell you.

I don't know how many people my guns killed along the way, or how many liquor stores I robbed. I really don't remember, but having all those guns on the highway mean I must have committed a whole string of felonies at some point.

Yes, the rifle was a .22LR Mossberg, but it was pulled off a gang member. So were the other firearms found, not from "Billy Bob." One of the seized firearms had a 100-round drum magazine attached to it. Sure, it wasn't a truck-load of AK-47s, but it's better than a bunch of speeding tickets, right?

Best part is the seized guns have to be taken to the evidence vault for turn in and storage. In beautiful DesPlaines. Nice easy drive at rush hour. 7 guns. Out of how many cars a day that travel on the Dan Ryan, Kennedy, Eisenhauer, Edens, Stevenson. Good luck. Won't change a damn thing in the city of Chicago.

YES it is true that the CPD doesn't count them against our numbers.
Hell they try not counting the crime that happens right in front of the mayors house too.

We know how this headline ends yaknow, Elvis's In The Ghetto playing in the background". Once it stops being a headline the Troopers will be gone. And I wonder where the picture is for the other four guns. Looks like the Mossie squirrel gun a cheap .380 and a cheap .25. Only 1,000,000 more illegal guns owned by 100,000 more gang members to go.

But WTH, I always liked Troopers so WTG. The phoniness has made me quite cynical.
