Machine Hijinks

  • State election officials have levied fines of more than $19,000 against Kim Foxx’s campaign to unseat Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.

The Illinois State Board of Elections ruled on Feb. 17 that Foxx violated campaign finance laws by failing to disclose a $25,000 poll paid for by County Board President Toni Preckwinkle a year ago. The election board informed the Foxx campaign Thursday that it would be fined for the violation, records show.

The state board also found Foxx’s campaign committed other infractions, including taking longer than the law allows to disclose 10 contributions it got in September. Among those contributions was a $2,500 check from city Treasurer Kurt Summers, election officials said.
You mean there are actual rules? Like, laws and stuff you have to follow when running for office? And she's violating them already? Amazing.

And how funny NOT ONE LAWYER will file an ethics complaint with the ARDC against Ms Foxx, you want to talk about a CODE OF SILENCE, it begins and ends with every LAWYER, the same group that moves onto become judges, why is it that NOBODY will file the complaint is it because then maybe there will be a whole bunch of unemployed lawyers? It's funny once they became aware of her misconduct they had an ethical obligation to file the ARDC complaint but funny that hasn't been done.

Yeah, there's rules. They can be a bit complicated sometimes - but the ISBE actually goes out of their way to try to inform people by letter, email, website help, and downloadable guides that are written in simple English.

If you have questions, you can call them, ask, and they'll help you out.

More than that, you can file 99.9% of all the bullshit ONLINE. So ummm, there's no real excuse. I'm no fan of Alvarez, but this other nitwit doesn't get a pass either...

Foxx is a Preckwinkle puppet, and Preckwinkle made it clear that black and brown people are treated unfair, Preckwinkle will be involved in the Asa office if Foxx is elected, especially a case involving the police, it seems to me Foxx will charge a po just to appease the black community even tho the evidence doesn't add up. Alvarez has credibility issues and released the punk who punched the cop in face strictly for political reasons, don't much about about Donna More, change would be nice in that office but then again change can make it worse.

I love how all the coppers are screaming about how Anita tried 95 cops during her time in office and they are so pissed that she's running on that platform. Don't you idiots realize that is her job? I agree some of the cases were not well thought out and the coppers beat them but how about some of the others? I know a few who caught a case and they deserved it. I also know a few who caught a case and beat it... And believe me, they should be thanking their lucky stars that they had bad witnesses, a decent judge and a great lawyer because even though they beat it the charges were accurate. This will not be popular with most but yes many who were arrested and charged more than likely deserved it. Even the copper who killed two people day before thanksgiving just doing "shots of water" on tape... Yeah, ok. He beat it good for him but do any of you people really think he was just doing shots of "water"????? Right. Glen evans case.. Love the guy. Did he stuck his gun in the guys mouth? I wasn't there but knowing glen he more than likely did. A shoddy and lazy investigation along with some bs at ipra doomed that case.. Did he do it though? Think for yourself if you know the guy. I have worked with Alvarez on a few cases that were high profile and she attended many of the meetings, prep dates and phone meetings and was very pleasant, polite and respectful to all of us. She never talked down to us and is very professional. She is not a "cop hater" as people like to portray because she has indicted 95 coppers in 10 years. She has been very pro police and pro states attorney but you guys fail to realize it's part of her job to prosecute police corruption.. It's not just all about us guys.... Think a little bit before you vote for this communist preckwinkle plant Kim fox ot the other white liberal bra burner who hates the police who is running. It's gonna be Alvarez for me

OT - Without warning, this morning the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR) suddenly announced it will no longer be sending paper license renewals and paper licenses. http://www.idfpr.com/About/PaperlessFAQ.asp

Most professions that require a license are regulated by the IDFPR. These include (but are not limited to) accountants, chiropractors, nurses, physicians, real estate brokers, community association managers, private detectives, collections people, locksmiths, and massage therapists just to name a few.

Notable exceptions are attorneys (ARDC) and insurance agents (Dept of Insurance).

The IDFPR put on a happy face and spun this as "going paperless", so the liberal tree-huggers would be happy.

The reality of course is that the State of Illinois doesn't have money for the postage and printing.

This parallels similar recent moves by the Illinois Sec of State (for vehicle license stickers) and the Illinois EPA (for Emissions Testing).

Just another fine example of how completely fucked up things have gotten under the 30 years of stewardship of DemocRat Michael Madigan. Yeah Mikey, keep on raking in millions for your downtown property tax appeal law firm while the citizens of Illinois get flushed like turds swirling in the toilet.

Call the next case. Not a cop.

This is the is the sort of thing that has The Republican establishment scared to death of Trump. He is paying his own way. The moneyed interests that have controlled things in the party for decades have thrown away massive amounts of money to bury him and nothing has worked. The Federal Election Commission cannot touch him, nor can State and local election commissions. People are fed up with the MSM, and the political glitterati. One of the cool things for the put upon people of Chicago to think of. If Trump wins Mayor Rahm Emanuel has no chance of riding a Hillary Presidency to a cabinet posting in DC. Today is the day which the worst fear of the Republican mafia might well come true, Trump nailing down the Republican nomination.

This is a power play by Toni Peckwinkle. She running County Government. She has her person running for the Clerk of the Circuit Court and also for State Attorney. If her people win the Clerk's Office and the States Attorney's Office just think of how many jobs she will control. If her people get into those two offices, then mark my words, she will take control of the Cook County Central Democratic Committee and force out Joe Barrios as it's president. Then my friends she will have total control of Cook County. The only thing left is who will be the next mayor of the City of Chicago. Will it be Curt Summers or Tom Tart. Anyhow, if she gets her people in God Help Us.

you sound like an iad type or one of Alvarez's ex cpd cook county investigators that are worried about their hack jobs.

If I was a cook county states attorney, sao investigator, or iad/ipra assigned to this case I would be worried about the lawsuits and criminal investigations headed your way.
I know evans and I know the case really well.

I read the transcripts and I attended most of the trial, and the information out of both is highly embarrassing and incriminating to the states attorney, iad, and ipra.

here's a few things I know. keep in mind, I'm not an evans fan or groupie, and I dislike both Alvarez and Foxx and don't plan on voting for either. So I'm as impartial as you can get.

I hate watching coppers get railroaded, and this was a big railroad job.

It became clear that this was a witch hunt. Like or hate him, Alvarez was out to hang the guy to kowtow to some politicians and police hating voters.

she charged the case during Ferguson uproar. Again, politics.

Alvarez, by the way takes campaign contributions from defense attorneys as well. Foxx sucks, but Alvarez is no angel.

The state even allowed a private lawyer to stick his nose in the case, a lawyer that surprise, works with an alderman

evans never stuck a gun in anyone's mouth throughout his 30 or so years on the job. no history no pattern except for this beef:

A few officers were accused of misconduct, but none were charged except evans. hmmm.

the dna, which ipra had destroyed, didn't prove anything except Evans came in contact with the so called victim. They destroyed the dna after it was determined to be of no use.

The states attorney were called out in court for falsifying documents and having Williams lie and change his testimony.

the states attorneys used a 10 year old picture to try to hang evans when the complainant got Evans age wrong, and was unable to identify him.

the complainant was unable to identify any of the accused officers.

same guy admitted to being a dope dealer, and seeking 5 million from city. plenty of incentive to lie.

Alvarez charged the case during Ferguson, in order to squeeze out some voter brownie points.

Ipra assigned a investigator who hated Evans when he had her suspended.

The same investigator falsified a report saying he Evans had a taser, and he never carried a taser . never signed one out never carried one.

Ipra leaked the dna report to media to be sure he was railroaded.

Ipra chief and the investigators were caught lying and messing up on the stand.

The states attorney who prosecuted the case has convicted lots of officers. Evans had nine felony counts against him. He wasn't shown any courtesy or mercy.

he wasn't interviewed about the case. didn't get to tell his side. I have never seen any suspect charged with a violent felony and not get to make a statement.

The case wasn't going to get tossed because taking down a commander would have been a big feather in prosecutor and ipra's cap.

Lots of criminal activity afoot in prosecuting this case but nothing is being done. All of the non police witnesses and the state perjured themselves and obstructed justice. no charges so far. red flag.

dna report leaked which is felony obstruction. no charges against ipra staff yet. Why?

Lots of other judges knew about the case and didn't want to touch it because it was tainted and reeked of malicious prosecution.

The so called "pro police" judge, Judge Cannon, is a ex states attorney straight as an arrow type. She sent a ex sergeant to prison for 12 years, and a convicted ex cop to prison for 75 years.

This was a railroad/hatchet job/witchhunt, an I, my friends, went into fetal mode behind this, and I am staying in fetal mode until pension time.
be fetal. be safe.

FYI: it is pronounced Fancook and he is not capable of holding any type of elected office. When he was assigned to Felony Review, he would bring his mother to police stations when he came out to review cases. He may be a nice man, but he is not qualified to lead that office; which may be the reason he was never promoted while he worked there.

I have some very left wing liberal friends and they all are supporting Foxx. They want cops arrested and prosecuted. If she gets in it will not be a good sign for law enforcement. And, Preckwinkle will have a lot of control over who gets charged and who does not. I think that you will see a very steep rise in the refusal of felony charges against black and brown, especially for the felony murder rule and teens who commit felonies. Possibly lower bonds so felons can walk out of jail and a reduction in charges. The reason I say this? I have listened to the comments of Preckwinkle and Foxx. And, I want more of the political class behind bars not less. I don't care much for Alverez but at least she is not liked by the current people in charge. That is a plus.
