Saving $$$ - Rahm Style
- Mayor Rahm Emanuel is asking federal authorities and Cook County prosecutors to launch a hate-crime investigation into racial slurs broadcast over Chicago Police Department radio frequencies.
The police department began its own investigation after a male voice was heard on a police frequency on March 13 saying, “typical f-ing n—s.”
In the past, this sort of thing was publicly ignored while Radio Shop or some similar Unit ran up the antennae to triangulate the offending radio. We're pretty sure that whole operation was downsized ten or twenty years ago. Now Rahm sees a way to make it look like he's doing something without spending a City dime on it.

This from a guy who
- mailed dead fish to people,
- repeatedly stabbed a lectern during a speech,
- confronted naked congressweasels in the shower,
- told firefighters they'd have to learn to bleed,
- told cops that he was was going to "stick it in their ear,"
- told Karen Lewis to "fuck off" on at least one occasion,
- fired McCompStat the day after saying he had his back
And lord knows what else. But those must be Chicago "values." Kind of like that teacher telling everyone at the rally "Fuck the police."

Deliberate interference with communications is a job for the Federal Communications Commission to handle.
A week or two ago, they had already determined that the transmissions "did not come from a City-programmed radio." This is just another sop to BLM and "We Charge Genocide" and every other hyperactive screwball group.
If a citizen had one of those aftermarket radios the citizen could be yelling "fuck Rahm" and would get a standing ovation from every cop working. Good luck with finding the location of the citizen in the 5 county area around Cook plus Lake in Indiana and the suburbs that ring Chicago.
What a moron. He has a legal department and still does not know the law. No hate crime just words over the radio. Those words are not of a threatening nature there is a crime for unauthorized use of the police frequency but no hate crime. Idiot!

the overwhelming evidence of cheating, by connected individuals, on the most recent Lt.'s test.
How can that not be even worth a comment by Rahm?

One remedy to phantom broadcasts is to go to a trunked radio system like ISP/CCSPD. Which is expensive, unless the Feds pay for it ( like after the investigation concludes that a modern radio network is needed.)

The conversation that lead to the comment was the most unprofessional waste of radio time to begin with. I heard the whole deal just once on the news and thought the blowup was about the "urbanized" sexual innuendo being discussed on the air.
Also about an officer sleeping and such. No it is about one word......

If merely using the so-called "n-word" was a federal crime, there would be so many "people of color behind bars" that the U.S. economy would implode from the expense of incarceration.
If they actually apprehend and prosecute whoever did this on "hate crime" charges, I'd suggest that the defense use a strategy of playing 80,000 different clips of rap music -- the sort of filth that comes roaring out of cars you're stuck next to at the light. Have to listen to that word until you go crazy.

Absolutely correct. No furtherance of an additional act (LIKE ASSAULT OR BATTERY) towards the target of the verbal slur. Yes the Feds can hit ya with federal FCC violations, yada yada. The statement itself is protected under the constitution (sorry you liberal fucks) but it was transmitted thru prohibited means.

true i have had 1 for years, and carry it even working at least I know the "extra" radio is fully charged and ready to unlike the broken radios we carry the minority vendors who have to kick back caused this! Heard today that the doj set up a sweet office in the 011th district, and will be doing ride along with 011 tact, you young coppers for your future STFU, they are not our friends trust them ok, but I promise will not fund raiser tickets for you after they are done dragging you through the court system. The feds try to get judge-ships or elected positions and say "see how many coppers I bagged" don't believe it? First off, the white police are so accustomed to the racial slurs against us, we barely hear them. We ignore them, we move on. You think any one of us who worked the street haven't been called white-trash, cracker, honky,(several others I'm trying to un-hear), or in my case 'white bitch fucking cop'? We don't like it, but we have more important things to do, so it slides down on the priority list.
Second, it kind of goes without saying that a sworn officer saying racial slurs on the radio is wrong and moronic. We aren't required to jump up and down, rant and rave over it, demand justice and/or whatever, hammer away at the subject, organize protests and summon the media over it. Yup, it's wrong and if he's caught, he deserves to be disciplined. (But since we already know it wasn't a police radio and it wasn't traceable, the point is moot.)
Political 'correctness' is going to be our downfall. Instead of everybody running around PRETENDING to be offended and PRETENDING to be overly apologetic and PRETENDING to rewrite history and PRETENDING to - oh, whatever... Why don't we just strive for fairness? Not OVERLY fair. Not bending over backwards fair. Just strive to be fair from today on out to infinity. What a pleasant change that would be.
And, as an added benefit, we wouldn't have a non-police poster here expressing faux outrage at our lack of outrage over a non-existent offense.
