Eddie Gets This...Sort Of

  • A 24-year-old man was charged Wednesday in a Northwest Side murder that police Supt. Eddie Johnson has pointed to as a glaring example of the need for the justice system to hold gun offenders with extensive felony records more accountable for their crimes.

    [...]

Court records show Martinez has gone in and out of prison and violated his parole conditions over and over between 2011 and 2016. He served about half of his three-year prison term in 2014 for being a felon in possession of a gun.

    [...]

“CPD will continue to use tools like our Strategic Subject List to identify and work with the less than 1 percent of residents who are driving the violence in Chicago, while at the same time demanding more from the criminal justice system to hold these individuals accountable, so they cannot continue to torment our communities,” Johnson said.

Several pieces of legislation are pending in the General Assembly to get tougher on gun offenders. For years, the mayor’s office, the Chicago Police and the Cook County state’s attorney’s office have pushed for tougher gun laws, only to get rejected in Springfield.
We'll repeat this again as we preach to the choir - it isn't the so-called "lax" gun laws. Criminals have proven time and time again that they don't care about how much paperwork gets filled out for a gun purchase, because they don't purchase guns legally. They steal them and buy them from others who steal them.

But we have a feeling they'd care if they ended up on the right end of a "Project Exile" type sentence - a five year sentence served at a federal facility far from home and we'll guarantee a measurable drop in gun violence within six months. Read the link.

A drop big enough to win elections.

"A five year sentence served at a federal facility far from home and we'll guarantee a measurable drop in gun violence within six months."

You know what else would guarantee "a measurable drop in gun violence"? Intended victims shooting back. There is no recidivism from bleeding out.

I, for one, care not a whit for "gun violence". I care for criminal violence, and a criminal meeting with violence at the hands his victim is a good thing--even if that "victim" is himself a criminal.

Best will in the world, SCC, you and your colleagues cannot protect us. You can only clean up the mess afterwards.

(To say nothing of the fact that a people armed, trained, and ready for their own defense will likely respect the burdens and decisions the police do face, because they know that they themselves may well face those same burdens. And vice-versa.)

Yea great propaganda headline about "Lax gun laws" but leads into the fact "homie" is a multiple loser offender. No gun laws of any kind have nothing to do with this animal. The fact he is let out back on the street to prey upon the general population and "bang" is the problem

How about this one. Eddie "soft serve" Johnson wants his commanders to go out to grieving Mothers this Sunday and visit with a few from each district who has lost a son or daughter to violence. I ran this past an old colleague who is prominent in the African American community. He was appalled to say the least. Let's make a visit on a emotional day and rip the hole open wider for grieving mother. This department has officially gone off the deep end.

Dream on Eddie
Any attempt to reform sentencing laws has, and will be opposed by the so called "Black Caucus"
Check it out. They have blocked every recent attempt. Eddie needs to have a long talk with them on the facts of life in their neighborhoods

our Strategic Subject List to identify and work with the less than 1 percent of residents who are driving the violence in Chicago.....WORK WITH??? the top score getters on the SSL----that is very nice, maybe we can help them relocate out of town (that might work).

...and when will our exempts stop selling/pushing/buying into the PSIT/DOC/COMPSTAT crap----gathering data from CLEAR and repackaging it is ridiculous because it
(a) is based on garbage - incorrect, incomplete info
(b) its sucks up money and resources to "reinvent" and "maintain" while technology all over the dept goes neglected (pdts, icc, computers, printers, phones, elevators, lights, heating/ac....)
(c) it is never a surprise to see the names of "heat seekers" or "SSL 500 plus" --- as victims, offenders, suspects or witnesses---the technology (just like the GVRS packets) is nowhere near important or useful as actual police out on the street doing the job with the support of supervisors - up to and including the supe.

How about a "Project Exile" that dumps the worst repeat offenders on a Devil's Island type penal colony?

Air drop supplies as needed and keep a Navy ship in the vicinity to foil escape attempts.

Once they go, they don't come back.

Oh, and if they do escape, there's a chip implanted in them to show where they're at at all times.

Gotta be cheaper than all these prisons we have to keep going.

It doesn't matter what the laws are. Prickwinkle put pressure directly on the judges to reduce the number of blacks in prison, and she has been very open about this.

The police catch them and everyone else does all they can to get them out. And the police are the problem.
Somehow, that just doesn't sound right. Could it be the criminals are the problem? And it's just 1%, is that from a survey?
Stay safe Officers.

If my memory is correct, black and hispanic state lawmakers were/are opposed to stricter sentences for gun offenders because it would adversely affect their constituents. Ie more people of color eould be incarcerated and for longer periods of time. Can't seem to please these folks.

Why not just make murder and mayhem
legal in the catered-to constituent "communerties."

Shades of that 1965 cult classic
with Marcello Mastrioanni and
Ursula (WHOOO!) Andress:

"The 10th Victim"

Set sometime in the future where
people (and folks too) are allowed to
register and participate in "The Big Hunt."

All the hunters are fair game and by any means...
Shooting.
Stabbing.
Strangling.
Explosives.
Poisons.
&c...

You bag 10 victims from among the lawful
registrants without becoming a victim
yourself? You win BIG cash and prizes!

It's called hitting the ultimate lick...
No?

(Registration lines around the fucking block
in Englewood, Harrison, Gresham etc...)

If you love and worship Death,
it's no biggie. Right?

Watch the movie.
Very tongue-in-cheek
and pretty damned funny.

Never you mind the dubbed dialog.

The training area scene is a hoot...

>old raggedy Chevy sedans doing a
rapid reverse with m/fers hanging
out the windows while shooting
assorted machine pistols at each
other<

Past be prologue an' shit...

It could more truthfully be described as a community tormenting itself, as well as other communities.

Well damnit, that's why he's miserable!
He can't openly steal like he used to...

Plus he's too scared to retire.
He knows he has shit on too many people
over the years. Plus he's already figured
it's better to hang on to the accoutrements
of ill-gotten rank rather than leave it all
behind.

Bubble Head's story ain't gonna end well.
That's why he doesn't want to retire.

Pity that those who REALLY know, won't
get to see him and Pineapple Head chained
back-to-back and dropped off WAYYY out on
I-57 somewhere.

Let those two criminal pricks "supervise" each other
into oblivion...
