So, two people get shot a memorial for a 14-year-old gang banger who was killed the other day. One of them was 8:
- Eight-year-old Jamia Barnes was playing Sunday evening on a front lawn near a vigil for a teenage boy killed hours earlier when she saw a man in a car arguing with a woman outside.
"Somebody had the gun in their lap ... and he got it out and started shooting," recounted the soft-spoken third-grader, fiddling with the bandage on her right wrist and pulling at her hair.
It's always tragic when an innocent gets shot. Not the 14-year-old. He was just following in his grandmother's footsteps, who has her own record for dealing dope. But the 8-year-old didn't make life choices that lead to being shot.

Why would you want to leave the fun and excitement of big city policing for, as in my case, country life? And, you are going to love it. You will find that there is plenty to do and time flies by. You might have some bad nightmares for a few years from PTSD, but that will pass. If you are planning on working for a few of your retirement years, start planning that now. It is a difficult road to find a decent post=retirement job. Best regards and good luck !

I got to within 7 months of age 63 and just left. My wife said she would just give me the hundred or so difference between 62 and 63, she saw I wanted OUT OUT OUT. My pension now, four years later is more than my take home was. No regrets at all.
Poor little 14 year old had 2 robberies and a UUW in his background. lots onlookers who didn't see nothin. As far as granny and the shorty who got winged; too bad. No tears hear. You've got the government you voted for and the PD you've asked for. Hold on tight. It's gonna get a lot worse.

I'm jealous of you leaving in 7 months. I have 4 years left. And if they get rid of 55 and out with some small percentage I don't see how I can stay till I am 60. I can't stay till 60. If you recall year back when Ron Huberman was at the Pension Board petitioning that his years of service with the CTA should be penionable. Huberman's argument was that while he was working at the CTA he acted in the capacity of a Police Officer. And if you recall, no other then Gene Roy testified that indeed Ron Huberman was working in the capacity of a Police Officer because he oversaw the security of the CTA (what a joke). This was videotaped by Bros. Shields and posted on youtube. Gene Roy has always been the city's go to for the clouted and this has not changed. His testimony during a deposition with Dan Herbert will do nothing but help these officers who are getting jammed in JVD case. City Hall is quite concerned and even more concerned in the spin that they will have to do with this new Sup. The 5th floor knows that Sup. Johnson is done and the Rev.'s are being tapped for a replacement candidate and so are the hispanic aldermen. Can you say this may be the record for shortest Sup? Monday the hammer will drop!

As I recall, the state max level is 35%. The real issue with that though is does the CPD have certified, calibrated Tint Meters like the ISP supposedly do.
But feel free to double check 9-76-220 A & B. I do believe that one of those 2 can still be issued. I will post a follow up after I can check the Ord book.

You're right! I volunteered to serve my country as a soldier and guess what? If a route was "black" (too many IEDs to expect anything other than catastrophic combat losses) our LEADERS never took those routes. We tried to not put ourself in situations that would needlessly lead to our own death or injury. We'd call in air support and indirect fire instead of trying to be bullet sponges. I guess to you self-preservation and common sense is something we shouldn't consider. So false allegations, lawsuits, people hating us, judges screwing us and a laughable stock of leaders isn't something we should consider? I'll get right back to being proactive. Rrrrrrrright.

well, you have a point there. But, I do know someone who got a ticket for tint and went to his installer who gave him a receipt which stated that the tint is only 35% which is within state guidelines. He took it to court.

well, at 934pm you were correct. with the 4 killed in the arson there were 68 murdered in 23 days. However, in the past 2 hours since you posted one was murdered in 008 and one was murdered in 010. So in 23 days we have had 70 homicides. I think 80 for the month is a given. we will have 6-8 for the weekend alone then a few more this week and at least one on next monday and tuesday. So im going to go with the over of 80. Im gonna say 83 total for august. Keep hammering us media. The entire State of illinois is loaded with guns. There is little or no violence with guns anywhere outside of Chicago. Why is it that the rest of the State is relatively peaceful, yet the hellhole of Chicago is plagued with so much killing ? It is obviously Not the Guns.
