VRI Names

A few people were attempting to post names of individuals who signed up for VRI, trying to shame them into following the FOP's lead to refuse non-mandatory overtime and bring a bigger spotlight to a critical manpower shortage that is a contributing factor to the rising homicide numbers. Since no one had actually worked yet, we deleted the names when we saw them.

We had suggested weeks ago that unless the FOP was willing to take some form of enforcement against those who would cross this "recommendation," that there were going to be those who always put their needs ahead of the greater good. We were correct, though the numbers were far lower than we had thought they'd be, so the message evidently got through to a lot of people. Well done.

Anyway, if people are still interested in seeing who worked, you're welcome to go into the CLEAR system and look it up, using your PC# and password. The blog isn't the tool for that.

Who really cares who worked. The FOP has never stood up and held their ground for any thing that was real important. Real easy to sit back and choose dates that are beneficial to you when your making Deputy Chief and Captain's salary and the hardest work you've done is buying pizza with our money at a police shooting. Ask the guys from 008 how that worked out. They hav been pretty silent about that, haven't they.

I have a name for you, Dean. Dean what have you done lately? Your overpaid ass should be out there every day regarding something that everybody agrees upon instead of arguing over coppers being scabs because they want money that you already get. How bout a no confidence vote for stripper Eddie, 9.5, or the 50 thieves. I guess it's easier to tell coppers what to do, just like everyone else. How bout some real balls, have a sit down with the dickhead boss for Pfather Pfaker? Maybe we should organize a boycott against the a Catholic Church? Right now that's the biggest enemy. But, hey, they might upset the wrong people Dean. Stand up and say something; oh, I forgot, your disability Dean. Sorry, rant off!

I think a good public shaming is in order for these selfish individuals that wish to step over the needs of the many for their own interests. I think this is a mistake not calling out the one way guys and gals. Other than that, thanks SCC for all the good work you do, day in and day out keeping us informed and entertained.

The FOP walked a very fine line on this one. They can't call for an illegal job action. They can't call for an illegal strike. But they could - and did - ask that everyone simply not VOLUNTEER for discretionary overtime.

It was the best possible way to draw attention to the fact the Department is horrendously understaffed, and is barely getting by. It can be done temporarily with insane amounts of overtime being paid out, but that isn't a viable solution, financially or physically, for a long period of time. It's gone on too long and it's taking a toll on everyone.

And, though I'm no union expert, it may well be that they can't sanction anyone who volunteered to work. (That might be frowned upon by the national FOP as legitimizing an illegal job action.)

As well as low numbers there were many that signed up and realized it fell on the weekend and cancelled. What is really something is there are Sgts that signed up twice talk about a fuck you to officers. List them so we could be aware

This is as it should be, SCC. There is an old saying --

"Lodge business in the lodge. Silence outside the lodge."

Everyone's badly needed rest, relaxation, and time with their families and friends will go very nicely all by itself.

No need to feed the hyenas out there with more trivia for them to fixate on -- to inflate until it fills the skies. Plenty of wild-a__ criminals running amok if they need a real story.

I hope someone keeps track of schedules to make sure that those that do get "forced" are not filling in for the VRI in lieu of beat car shortages...

Instead of the VRI names, post the names of all the exempts that were promoted via merit their entire career, and have locked in six figure pensions. This place has become an employment agency for the clouted. No requirement of skills needed to perform the job, or test scores, just the clout to get a merit promotion. The majority of us common folk will have to risk our careers, and lives out on the streets dodging bullets, and law suits, while the clouted that worked most of their careers inside get promoted right past us. Face the reality it is a club, and you are not in it! Find a side job that is safe and force the city to hire more worker bees to support these anointed individuals.

When an overtime budget approaches $20 Million dollars, someone should be held accountable and fired for "Incompetence". Somebody either failed to take into account or project manpower needs. Someone probably making a six figure salary, hidden away at City Hall or Headquarters. And the hiring of more officers completely defies the concept of Community Policing. Remember "More with Less"? The Schools and Revends, who flee to the suburbs at night, need to take responsibility for what is clearly a lack of Moral Integrity, not Police inefficiency. Meanwhile Politicians ignore the mayhem and lie up votes for Hillary. Will Fr. Faker who did that beautiful performance about Entitled Hillary back in 2007 be campaigning for her this year? You can see it on YouTube. Baby"G"

When they are caught with their pants down pound them constantly in the media and on the internet. I would love to know faker's financials. A lot of info is available through public sources and it would be interesting to know how much church money has found it's way into his pockets...

The police union should not be run by po's that only care about taking care of themselves it should be run by a union of non police officers who have nothing to gain from the city. What sacrifices are they making to stand with the dept are they giving up any money or extra pay to make a stand I doubt it.

Putting the fear of suspension from the program into those cancelling their VRI is proof of the tyrant practices.
Just the thought of manpower shortages causing disruptions in scheduling for the unit house mouse is frightening.
So, for the next 3 months, will there be massive shortages due to the suspensions?

We don't need any names, the one that work are the ones that need it.
I used to work all the time and then when the day came of no more tuition, braces and minvan payments...my secondary employment ended.
There are people out there catching up too.
It's easy to get into a 6 days a week work schedule and easier on your physical condition when you're young (-40).

Laying off working a day or two isn't going to send someone into the poorhouse. If their financial situation is that tenuous, excluding medical problems, they should learn how to handle what they make, and live within their means. This VRI bullshit is playing right into the city's hands. No need for new hires if there is a steady stream of tools eager to screw their fellow fraternal order members.

Where did you get the idiotic idea that it's against department policy to access department email from our personal devices? The department has an order that specifically outlines how to do just that. If there's an order explaining how to access department email from a personal computer, how could it be against policy to follow that order? Read this and educate yourself:

"C.Procedures for members to access Department E-mail on non-Department Computers

Members can access their Department e-mail account via the Internet on computers that do not have Chicago Police Department intranet access (i.e. personal computers) by the following:

1.Access the Chicago Police Department’s CLEARpath Webportal at http://www.chicagopolice.org;

2.Place the cursor over “Online Services;”

3.From the drop down list of services, choose “CPD Employee Services;”

4.Select “CPD Web Mail” and;

5.Enter your personal username and password for e-mail access.

NOTE:

Members accessing their Department e-mail account on a non-Department computer does not preclude members from adhering to the provisions of the Department’s Internet and E-Mail Use Policy and the policy delineated in this directive."

If they don't want us accessing our email from anything other than department devices, they could easily restrict access from outside devices. If you're attempting to call out your Sgt for violating policy, make sure he's actually violating a policy. Moron.

"..... penny fuked it up yet again.... first day of school came as a complete surprise to these overmatched "best and brightest" nitwits. Another blatant display of incompetence by those clout babies put in charge..."

DO NOT answer your phone or volunteer ---penny is a fool supported by morons above her and goofs below her. Lets see the fallout from this nonsense---failure to finish the order (a virtual copy of last years) and assign the bodies---which should have been done early last week---and with a larger pool since there was no restriction on the admin staff which had been exempted all summer and left in sat/sun---which includes the hordes of full duty sworn in FOIA and research and development....and how about throwing in all of those assigned to Office of Supe/Office of First deputy they are also free and clear from details

The department should suspend VRI and VRE for a month-- it is just a pretend solution to a real problem. Lets see if there is a dramatic difference in crime.

Dean hasn't done sh*t in three years. He gave away the free 55 just like he gave away the insurance in 1999. Look for the increases in your insurance starting in Jan 2017. No more going to Northwestern or Advocate Hospitals unless you want to pay 30% more for the bill. Dean has got to go. And to the guy that is bit*hing about the citywide guys. You must be with Dean because Dean and his kid are buddies with Mikey Shields (aka letter boy).

This has nothing at all to do with quality. 80% of the current FTO's can't perform the most basic tasks of a field officer. They are only in it for the money. I certainly would be in favor of paying them D-2A pay IF THEY DESERVED IT! But most of them can't complete an inventory without being corrected several times over after submitting it. Nor can they complete an arrest report. You basically have the blind leading the blind. In fact, it mirrors our society - children who haven;t been raised can't be expected to raise children. Think about it......

Scab here, I really don"t care what you think!! You did not wear long sleeve shirts with us last year when the city stuck it to many of us with arm tattoos.. The point was made by not signing up for SPECIAL this weekend, the numbers wear not there. But the offer to work in house after the fact, well that is too good to pass up!! We already proved our point and look no one care but us at CPD .......

9/04/2016 02:26:00 AM

At least you made this all about you, just in case we didn't already know you're a selfish piece of shit. "Waaaaaaahhhh... you didn't wear long sleeves with us when we had to cover our tattoos!" Give me a fucking break. Grow up, you fucking crybaby. People wear long sleeves to work every day and none of them have ever died from it. Is that honestly the best excuse you can come up with? Police work often involves wearing things that make you hot and uncomfortable. Sometimes you have to fight with people. Sometimes you get shot at. Sometimes you get covered in blood and shit that doesn't belong to you. But you want to whine about having to wear long sleeves? Unbelievable. Why exactly do you expect everyone to wear long sleeves because you decided to get tattoos in places that aren't easily covered? Why does everyone have to suffer for something that only affects a small percentage of us? The manpower issues affect all of us. We are all in danger, police and citizens alike, due to the manpower issues. That's something everyone should get behind. But your feelings are hurt because everyone didn't wear long sleeves with you, so fuck everyone and their safety, right? Eat shit, scab.

Idiot Jay Ryan is not retired. Just correcting that goof. Secondly who the hell cares? Bitch & moan yet none of us, including myself, does a damn thing about it. No one gets in with media as a city snitch no one actually challenges higher ups or FOP. I just want to retire and protect my family. This Dept is a worldwide joke and this city is the shittiest in the nation.

Typical Police response to the FTO question everyone's response is that they're Job is the most important in the department. Last I checked the clearing rate of cases by the detective division is very low. If you watched the video from 4's car chase shooting bunch of guys in white shirts no F$&?king idea how to handle a Police shooting. This is about getting people who care about this job" which has changed huge in the past year". Make the test as hard as the SGT exam make it a rank and stepping stone to SGT, interview perhaps and yes D2A after a certain amount of time. Oh one more thing there's a box of inventories behind every district desk REJECTED by ERPS pickup. Hard to find a PO these days who have any idea what ERPS wants certainly many SGT's. Start somewhere.

The FOP blows anyways. I personally know 3 coppers that had caught some BS and called the FOP for help, they basically told them to fuck off and figure it out for yourself. I didn't work the weekend, buts its for damn sure not because the FOP told me not to. Fuck them all.

on September 09, 2016 at rollcall I was handed a 90 day suspension from special employment because I signed up to work CHA Extension for September 04 but then in a timely manner in the spirit of FOP Unity Days I deleted my approval status to not work it.

Special Events, added me on then the watch commander wrote me up as no call no show...

WTF, FOP! I have a 1st Amendment right to stand with the FOP in this cause, yet management violated my 1st Amendment right to express myself with other police officers during FOP Unity Days!

I'm filing a grievance!
