The city is in crisis, the streets are red with blood, the rent-collectors are at the door, and the City Council has time for this?
- Downtown Ald. Brendan Reilly (42nd) moved Wednesday to punish Donald Trump for using a 50 percent spike in homicides and shootings to paint a “distorted caricature” of Chicago as a “decimated, war-torn country.”
If the full City Council goes along with the idea, the Republican presidential nominee would be stripped of a recognition he covets: “Trump Plaza,” the honorary designation approved for the east side of Wabash Avenue between Illinois Street and the main branch of the Chicago River.
When Trump was building his tower, the aldercreatures were lined up to take photos and more than willing to name a street after the guy. After all, he was probably greasing some palms along with the photo-ops. They had plenty of time for that.
But hey, let's check the tape:
Golly, Trump told the truth, and for this he must be punished? Makes perfect sense. If Trump actually wins the election, how soon will these idiots be lining up to beg for D.C. money for assorted bailouts?

I read the blog nearly every night, and find the topics covered extremely pertinent to all police, especially Chicago Police, and even more so to the "working" police, given the amount of absolute fictional bullshit we've all faced in the last 18-24 months. And, it's because of the respect I have for those who run the blog that I'm addressing a fad that's grown in Chicago the last few years. Chicago is not a war zone, though the numbers definitely reflect one. And on paper, we're beating Iraq and Afghanistan. I understand that this popular comparison is used simply to exhibit just how unbelievably violent and broken-down this city is, but I believe making the comparison is disrespectful to our servicemen. I fought in Afghanistan as an infantryman. I lost close brothers. They were not unraised mutants ignorant to the difference between right and wrong, they were intelligent, brave men who fought and died for our country. I absolutely understand that in no way, shape, or form does anyone making this popular comparison intend that meaning. However, I've talked with some officers who are also combat veterans, and the comparison insults something that's sacred to us. The comparison will fade soon enough, but in the mean time, remember that when it's thrown around "more killed in Chicago this month/year than Iraq or Afghanistan," those "killed" could be referring to a brother or sister one of us watched die in combat. To those at the blog, thank you for what you report. Your articles contain more true investigation than all our news outlets combined. Be safe guys, head on a swivel.

He can include in his complaint evidence showing all the other buildings in the city where names apppear and are excluded from enforcement. I can think of no more suitable plaintiff than Trump to take the city to the woodshed. And among the evidence for singular enforcement would be the idea being made public in the first place, the debate and fifty of the most ignorant people in the city conspiring to vote yes on the proposal.
