Day Off
We're taking the night off. It's been a long week for everyone and, quite frankly, we're as tired as anyone.
And it isn't over seeing asRahm Mayor Ricketts decided to move the parade up three days.
Open post. If you don't hear from us by Sunday, call out the search parties.

Anybody else feeling under the weather after this fiasco?
Must be nice. DOG 61 got their day off cancelled by the 18th dist commander. Everyone got called only couple of hours before start of shift.
No contract violation by starting 3rd watch people at 9AM today?
You ALL deserve a rest. I'm very grateful to have retired just ahead of this mess.
Thank you, SCC for all the hard work and effort you put in to keep the blog running. Without it, we really don't have a voice or an outlet to air out our grievances. Also, I really wouldn't know what the hell is going on in the department or around the city.
An Open Post Topic...
There was a flyer on my door today,
"VOTE YES for ALL Retention Judges"
Below that was the grinning mug of Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans.
Well FUCK HIM. He screwed up a lot of things like our Sergeants promotion back in 1988. There was a list on the flyer of all the Judges names and their numbers. It has been said that all cops should vote NO on the retention of Judges. But if we do that then there is no incentive for any of them to do anything for us.
There has to be a short list of Judges that have even if they did not go out of their way for us were known to be fair and honest.
Could we have that short list, please.
Nope, Friday it is. Let's see if the msm AND tiny dancer acknowledges what happened last weekend...
I wonder how much 9 1/2 paid for the tickets to game 7, for his family? How much did we pay for all of that? Let's go alder creatures, the ethics people told you to buy your tickets like a citizen, unless you are "speaking".
Tiny dancer wasn't invited to the field. He stood on his tippy toe's, and proclaimed, "I am the Mayor of Chicago", "call Theo"...
If that rain didn't come thru, his "crew", would have the whole family out the backdoor.
Keep pandering 9 1/2.
Since it's an open post, here's a little factoid for you to mull...depending on the source, Homicide #600 was on/about Monday, 17Oct2016. According to HeyJackass.com, as of approx 2:05am on 4Nov16, we are sitting at 663. 63 homicides in 18 days (3.5/day). Earlier this year, SCC predicted 666. A couple of weeks ago, I threw out 685 in a thread. We're almost there already. With about 57 days left in the year, at the about 2/day average, you could be looking at another 114 killings. While we know weather does have an effect on things (yes Garry, it does), and yes, we know it will be getting colder (plus a couple of holidays in there too, not that that'I'll stop them) , it's supposed to be in the low to mid 60's almost all of next week. You almost have to think that 800, while not likely, could be mentioned in the conversation. 800 homicides in a year. That's crazy.
FOP election is right around the corner. Anyone besides SCC been keep tabs on the current? Rumor is RB from SWAT won a FLSA lawsuit for us and is running against Dean heads up election.
cancelled!
First watch in 011 just found out, at roll call, that they're working 12hr shift after being told at check off night before that schedule is back to normal. No one was notified prior to today's roll call. Brilliant Sgt P. informed P/O's that order came out this afternoon and that P/O's need to check their work email at home on regular basis. (Your family is not important I guess ) Lots of officers had to make emergency arrengments to take their kids to school.
Hard to really gauge how bad it got out there when the Cubs won. The local media is obviously trying to cover up all the major incidents that happened throughout the night (no surprise). Why didn't we hear about the 10-1 at Ashland & Addison on the Citywide? The 12th District was tame especially if you count all the sports bars from Division to Madison. The 14th District went wild but only for an hour or so and no IOD's as far as I can tell. Please provide some feedback or World Series stories from your district of assignment that night.
Nice weather for the weekend, over/under 10.5.
What are we suppose to do SCC, while we sit around for hours in buses before these actual events start?
Why shouldn't Ricketts call the shots? He's accomplished more.
Oh My! Back in 1996, Presidential Convention we worked 18 hour days for 2 weeks straight. And nobody complained, the OT was sweet.
Didn't know desk duty was so exhausting. Get some rest.
Is it just me or does it appear people who have those temporary Illinois license plates are the worst drivers?
They just sent a ton of teams back to the districts because they weren't supposed to be sent down to work at 4am. Lots of pissed off people who were told to be here at 4am, they get down to roll call at 18th and lake shore drive at 530 and they tell them all it was a mistake and they aren't supposed to even be here so just go back and sit at the districts. Nobody has a clue what's going on right now. This is what happens when you organize an event in 12 hours that will see 5-8 million people throughout the city. Morons.
The pattern of democrat obfuscation and obstruction. The EPA used private emails, the atf used private emails, and the state department...and executive branch itself used private emails.
Why? What do they all have in common? The ability to plan/coordinate/converse and not have anything be on record, public record...of public servants on public time doing public work.
C is for Corruption
The looting that has been going on in chicago went to DC and has been on a world wide scale.
We are all Chicagoans now.
VOTE. Remember vote republican for states attorney. Vote no for Judge crooks. No all judges
In a surprise move the sex trafficing officer was arrested federally. He was under the belief he was untouchable because all his clients were M1 gold stars. Hmmmmm.
Crowds are flooding the streets for the parade and no police in site for traffic and crowd control until you get to the parade route. Public and some catholic school kids are off. Our brain trust of merit flunky supervisors have not shown any ability to control anything. 4000 shot 600 murdered in the bloodiest year since the 90's and the year is not over. More murders then LA and NY combined! Parents stay close to your kids at the parade. Hope and pray nothing major happens as CPD is poorly deployed and sadly led by incompetents.
Question for you SCC
I am not an LEO. I respect what you guys do, though I won't claim to always understand it.
What I want to know is what keeps you going? Your mayor is an idiot, your bosses are dumb as a box of hair, and you are working in a combustible environment; I worried about your city over the last week and I am glad everyone mostly behaved.
It can't be the pay or retirement--money can only compensate for so much. So what drives you?
LEO's please be careful over the next week. I am a progressive and I am utterly horrified by the things I'm seeing on both sides. The only reason this country works is we have all agreed to shake hands the day after the election and be Americans first. I don't see that coming together this year. Watch yourselves around the nuts of all flavors. They'll be out in force.
Your "Civie in da Lou"
It's my first day off too....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!
and this from the uptown area celebration thur morning:
A bike officer was sideswiped by an Infiniti sedan in the 1000 block of West Irving Park Road around 2:35 a.m. in nearby Buena Park. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and his condition was stabilized, police said. The 25-year-old driver was cited for failure to reduce speed
I know you all have to be dog tired with all the overtime, but at least it will all be over after today. Always grateful to the CPD for all that they do. I hope the event stays peaceful and that CPD who are Cub fans come home with some good memories.
Peace to you all.
A Chicago White Sox fan.
SCC:
Please have a separate post next week devoted solely to health care coverage for RETIREES over age 65 who do NOT qualify for MEDICARE. Also please include information for those affected that want access to only top-tiered hospitals (Northwestern Memorial, University of Chicago, Rush, Loyola, etc.)
There's all conflicting rumors which have yet to be resolved and documented by the City, PAPF, FOP-7, BC/BS, Aetna, the associations for sgts, lts and capts.
Thank you.
Breaking NYPD News
Two NYPD sergeants responding to a robbery-in-progress in the Bronx shot within the hour. Conditions unknown. Perp shot dead.
Two NYPD sgts. shot in the Bronx; one sgt. DOA.
Gunman also shot dead.
Thank God we didnt get deployed downtown. Radio traffic was a war zone
Dont be to comfortable SCC, and other Blue Brothers and Sisters prayers sent for 2 of New York's finest both shot today by some animal:
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/11/04/2-nypd-police-officers-shot-in-bronx.html
Then we have this another terrorist threat Monday:
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/sources-us-intel-warning-of-possible-al-qaeda-attacks-in-us-monday/
This will get even worse if we let that criminal clinton in our house, she has already sold secrets to 5 terrorist nations but yet this crazy pos is still allowed to be run for president!
I wish I could take a day off.
DOG 61 n day off cancelled yet again.
I have to say, as a supervisor......
I am proud of how we handled the mess that was today. It was a very trying situation as well as a long 2 weeks. This shows what we are made of regardless of what the media thinks.
The pendulum is swinging back. Keep your heads up.
There is NO short list for judges dummy. They all need to go!

What keeps me going lately is the hope that a man named Donald Trump becomes president and kicks the criminals in Washington DC right where it hurts. I hope the American people will finally stand up and say no more to high taxes, illegals, refugees, safe spaces, the war against the first and second amendments, corruption, multiculturalism, BLM, Obamacare, biased media, crooked politicians, jobs being sent out of this country, the anti police movement and free handouts for everything under the sun to people who don't work and don't want to work.
As far as after the election, no, I don't want to shake your hand and I haven't agreed to shake your hand. You liberals/progressives have ruined and continue to ruin this country and I take it personal. I want nothing to do with you clueless, ignorant idiots. I want you weaklings to just go away.

HeyJackass has the tally board at 666!!

Do your own homework. And how are you over 65 and not on Medicare?
It's going to be a very good CUBMAS. Thank you JOE M and your boys.

Thanks BOSS, that's all we blue shirts need sometimes "A PAT IN THE BACK" not the usual "STAB IN THE BACK" like most of these clueless white shirt pricks do on a daily basis. The comment above still shows that there are still a handful of good bosses out there, GOD BLESS.....
Well done CPD, you deserve a high 5. I was at the parade today. I hope the force can get some sleep, after they were denied their RDOs.
Ole Rham took it right in the ass. He has been begging for it since he was elected. Not a Ricketts fan, but he strong armed the Tiny Dancer. Fuck you 9 1/2, you just experienced how Chicago works.
Keep the ghetto lottery alive and funded.
I became sick too. Immune system down
Why does it take a P.O. to file and win a lawsuit that the FOP should be handling?
Just glad this shit show is OVER!
Now can the Cubs fans quit whining about not having a Championship, and crying about curses and bad luck!

No, we didn't.
We worked a lot of hours, but nowhere near 18 hour days for two weeks. Not even the PPOs did that.

Do your own homework. And how are you over 65 and not on Medicare?
11/04/2016 10:05:00 PM
----
Idiot. Prior to March of 1986, no police paid into Medicare because they were promised healthcare for life. That promise was broken. Add Rostenkowski and his Windfall Act, and most social security benefits were stripped as well, even if you had your quarters. Why do you think what is happening now is so disastrous to elderly retirees? The city is impoverishing those that gave their life to service.
10:05 PM
Only non-CPD jobs were during summer breaks from college. Joined CPD shortly after college graduation. Never worked secondary employment. Spouse=housewife and full-time mother. Empty nesters long ago.
Would you now be considerate enough to give a helpful reply?

They used to say, "Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six."
But recent history has shown that if it is a P.O. on trial for a split second life and death decision he or she made it is better to be made by a fair and competent professional jurist.
We need to cull out the corrupt, the anti-cop, the racists and the politically connected. We need to vote intelligently and find and support those few. So who's the dummy.
"Non-Medicare Retiree" at 11/4; 2:43 PM and 11/5; 1:44 PM (assuming same poster)
As you can see by the snarky reply by the scumbag at 10:05 PM, make no mistake: Assholes walk amongst us. Assuming you are sincere and understandably stressed out, you posted an intelligent question asking for advice.
The anonymous jerk at 10:05 PM then insults you. This POS must be a real joy to be around: NOT.
I agree with 12:33 PM. Also, I hope you are in Attorney Krislov's class action lawsuit vs. the shitty. Also, have you checked with FOP and the pension board?
You are correct about some hospitals that just might pronounce you DOA with a case of terminal hangnail.
Hope all works out.
Congrats to the Austin neighborhood for getting homicide #666 and a 5'er. Maybe they can get the marksmanship title next year.
