Well.... (UPDATE)

This is going to be an interesting night.

Be safe Boys and Girls.

Congrats Cubs.

UPDATE: post moved from midnight to now

UPDATE: It's 0400 hours, and there are still 3rd Watch personnel who haven't returned to the Districts yet - 16 hours and counting. Where are the gas teams? We didn't let the Bulls riots go on this long.

Too bad sux fans, your wet dream of a cubs loss was cut short. I know why you are so angry. It's because no how many more championships the sox have, they will never compare to the popularity of the cubs. ESPN even forgot about your World Series win. That hillbilly bar in Bridgeport showed zero class, which is typical of a sox fan, by rooting for the Indians. Not one northside bar cheered for the astros in 2005 because cubs fans are not haters like you are.

So, the city was all prepared for a parade on Monday. But then Tom Ricketts announces on national television that it needs to be Friday to accommodate the MLB managers meeting. Yeah. Let's switch everything out for a meeting a couple of executives have to attend.

Granted, after 108 years the Cubs won, but does he not understand how many city inspectors can be crawling up his ass as they finish renovations and build their hotel? Tom, haven't you learned by now, Chicago ain't Omaha and your brother isn't the Governor of Illinois?

Some of us are trying to figure out why our department ethics doesnt apply to the Superintendent? Cub's owners had their "people" give him 2 tickets for Friday nights Chicago game! He proceeded to give them to 2 P.O.s that were supposed to be working the detail! The officers accepted the tickets and watched the game! Last time city employees were given the ethics exam we were told "no gift over $50 value." So why? Oh why? Are they exempt? (Not by rank) but exempt from accepting gifts we all know were at least 10 times over the amount we are allowed to accept?

Yeah. Your little Cubs world is full of class. That's why your beloved wrigleyville bars stuck it up your ass charging exorbitant prices.

Poor Cubs fans... your team finally wins a world series and all you can talk about is the Sox. What a bunch of miserable pricks you are. Be happy that your team won. Why worry what Sox fans think, or what you imagine they're thinking? I don't really give a shit about baseball, but I was happy for the Sox and their fans when they won, and I'm happy for the Cubs and their fans now. I understand the rivalry, as stupid as it is, but why focus on negative bullshit when you should be happy and celebrating?

Way to go Cubbies. From riding horses to the games to an era when were peering into the deepest depth of the universe. But whose counting?

Hey did you hear that nit-wit Mary Mitchell of the ;slime Times wants to get rid of the "gang related" homicides and just call them "homicides"? She says calling them "gang related" when all these black gang members ace themselves up is racist because "We’ve become obsessed with finding something other than the proliferation of guns on our streets to blame for these untimely deaths.
Gangs have always been in America. What there hasn’t always been is the ease with which young people can get their hands on guns.".

Sister in the days of Al Capone a kid could mail order a Tommie gun and it would be delivered to his house. Even in the '60s anyone could do it in IL. and now you need a FOID card, have to be 21 to buy a handgun, and have to buy from a Licensed dealer after an FBI name check. I guess this stupid bitch didnt get the memo.

The fact is these gangsters can buy guns cause they have created their own narco/welfare state and with drug money, and a lot of it, they can illegaly buy guns with no problem. Understand the word "illegal"?

It has NEVER been harder to legally buy a gun in America then it is now. You nincompoop.

ps: In case any of you 'older' guys wondered, YES, you weren't wrong or having deja vu, he does have a familiar name. He's the son of Tito Francona, a journeyman player in the American League who made one stop with the White Sox in 1958, and yep, Tito played a couple years in Cleveland too.

This is a Chicago team and I would always rather have a Chicago team win over any other team. I have lived here all my life. This is my town. Fuck New York, L.A. Detroit, St. Louis, Green Bay and Cleveland. I will alwasy root for the SOX but this is not a war, and the CUBS are not the enemy (unless we are playing them). It is baseball. A game. Everyone should enjoy this. I am jealous that the SOX owner seems to have given up on them and the Bulls and has gone into Bill Wirtz mode. Go SOX! Congratulations CUBS.

As a die hard south side sox fan I agree with you. Bridgeport is a different breed. I was out on western ave last night in Beverly and most if not all who were in the bars were pro cubs as was I. Nobody can deny it's a class act team(maybe not chapman with his past) but a great team and great coach. Kudos to the cubs players on a good win. No hater here, glad for the city and the club. The neighborhoods will be up for grabs with shootings.

The other half of the teenagers will go downtown and the wildings, robberies, phone thefts and pick-pocketing will be off the freakin' charts.

Regular Army flew in military transports into O'Hare. There was more, much more. That was a riot. Entire beats in 013 burned to the ground.

Bulls riots. That's funny.

Rahm touched the head of my friends' toddler daughter during a WS game here. "We did not want him to," was the quote from her parents on their Facebook page Then they posted a photo of the toddler, who is always smiling, in her mother's arms with a confused/not happy "Rahm touched my head" look on her face. It was great!

Too bad sux fans, your wet dream of a cubs loss was cut short. I know why you are so angry. Off Topic...But interesting

The Illinois Tollway Authority is holding a student art contest to determine the next cover for their paper tollway maps. I think some of the art shows people fleeing Cook County and Illinois in droves. But I also wonder if that little punk Herbie what's-his-name snuck in some gang signs in one of them.

Forget what hating Sox fans think. That's jealousy because the they know their team is in shambles without any sign of recovering soon. They are also in on the South Side which...pretty much speaks for itself. The Sox only won 3 World Series. Guess what? So has the Cubs and we did it last. Face it the Cubs have always been loved more and we still have our stadium. Where is your stadium? Oh yeeeaahh, they tore it down to build the Cell. Great name. Very fitting. Sit down and stop hating. There's no curse. There's no freaking goat. There's none of that garbage. The best team in baseball won the WS in spectacular fashion and drama. Best of all the team is young and not even in their prime. There's always next year...White Sox.

Speaking of brothers, I suspect that Rahm's brothers don't have much respect for Liberal Arts Rahm. They have accomplished so much in their fields. OK, the whack job doctor who wants everyone to die at 75 is the architect of the greatest failure of Obama's administration, but hey, at least it was all him.

For all of the bitter haters who identify themselves as Sox fans, take a hint from the management of the White Sox who have been complimentary and courteous during the Cubs title run.

If you are still bitter, ask yourself, why do you cheer for the Chicago Bears football team which has historical ties to Wrigley Field? Your team (the Chicago Cardinals) pulled up stakes and moved more than fifty years ago.

So the Cubs allow Rahm on the field with a team pass? Is this the same Rahm who with the assistance of Ald. Tunney shut the Ricketts and Cubs down at every turn because they are not doing their due diligence in raising enough funds or kicking back enough to their political war chest? I guess investing 1 billion of your own money in bettering this shit city isn't enough. Corruption at its finest.

11/03/2016 09:09:00 AM

Where do you get your information? The Cubs got virtually everything they wanted from the city. Rahm rolled over for them. Ald Tunney did what an alderman is supposed to do. He represented the sentiments of the people living in Wrigleyville. Wish that happened in my ward. Lots of the public meetings were in the community room at the district. Crane Kenny treated the neighbors like they were shit on his shoe.

Cubs, 1 World series championship in 108 years. Sox, 1 World series championship in 99 years. Not a huge difference. Hopefully both will do better in the next century.

Hawk was even cheering for the Cubs, wisely stating that it would spur the Sox to improve themselves to compete. What a series that would be, Cubs/Sox!

I was glad for my Sox friends they won in 2005. For the warm and fuzzy person who said now the Cubs fans can go ahead and die. "We all die. It's just a matter of when" (a quote from the movie "Hombre")

Uh, hey Bunky, why would they gas white people? The celebration last night had 1 incident of assholes throwing bottles and rocks over by Clark St. and 1- 10-1 by Addison and Ashland. I can't say what the ethnicity was of the offenders but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the usual suspects. I also wouldn't be surprised if it was drunk dummies that wear Che-t shirts on occasion, either.

You had isolated pockets of damaged vehicles, a couple of stores got damaged. In the 90's, the Bulls riots had large scale looting and violence, I'm an adult an remember them vividly, 3 as a citizen and 3 as the police, which is why I don't want ANY CHICAGO sports teams to win shit until I retire, to be fair, the only real problem were the Bulls celebrations.

You people need to teach your children to behave. Don't walk in the street, don't wander into traffic by the turn lane, if your teacher says to do something, do it. If a copper tells you to stop doing something, stop. Don't be loud in restaurants, leave a damn tip if you were waited on satisfactorily, your wait staff are not slaves or indentured servants. It's not necessary that you weigh 100 pounds more than anyone you're ever seen, throw your damn grape drank and chip bag in the garbage can, not the sidewalk, we live here asshole and I'm tired of my taxes paying for an $80,000 per year streets and san worker to pick up after you because you're too inconsiderate to not litter.

Bulls riots? There were no Bulls riots. Go to YouTube and look up 1968, M. L. King assassination riots. Entire police department on 12 hour shift. 13th and some of the 14th District slept in the old Chicago Stadium. Cops brought their own M1 carbines to work and got ammo from the national Guard. Regular Army flew in military transports into O'Hare. There was more, much more. That was a riot. Entire beats in 013 burned to the ground.

There is a difference, yes. The people that rioted in '68 were an angry mob, protesting the assassination of an important person in the civil rights movement. They were destroying everything in their path. The Bulls riots were a violent celebration. Not very much anger there. Just broken window shopping and tearing up a little stuff.

Don't piss on our moment, old guy! It's the best we got... I "might" even own one of those old carbines from back in the day, I have friends that are even older than I. I love history.

Gas? Were you at the same detail as me? There was no need for any of that. The overwhelming majority of people there acted great and were quite thankful and respectful of the police, high-fiving , taking pictures etc. they celebrated. There was a few assholes who acted up who were locked up, including a 10 -1 at the end of the night with bottles thrown. A total of 25 arrests for a crowd of a 100,000 plus that came down, with most arrested not from Chicago. That's a success for us and a testament to the great job our officers did. We looked great.

That being said, can someone ensure car 41 never gets on a radio again! For the love of God he must burn through 20 batteries a night. Overeact much? People were celebrating something that has been 108 years in the making and were exuberant, wanting pictures etc. this tool tried to block people from going to the marquee to take pics etc, and then gave conflicting orders as to how and where to disperse them. With a crowd that large you leave them alone, let them celebrate for a while and then most will leave. When you try to corral, and move large groups with inferior numbers you risk injuring your people. Thankfully the crowd was peaceful.

Logistically, this was a nightmare. The lack of real plan for game 7 and the upcoming parade is glaring. Some were left on busses for hours, others contacted at the last minute and told to hurry down. Really? Hurry down busses of coppers from the south side? That was amateur hour. Also you start hq people at 10 to save on change time differential, only to keep them until 0430 and then tell them to make it in to work in the am. Amateur hour all the way. I'll cut some slack on parade due to the rush requested by Cubs, but rest assured it will be a mess.

Correction the Supt. entire staff and a few select HEROS reported in dress uniform ( with their purses and backpacks) after they presented the flag on the field the Supt, staff changed into plain clothes and attended the game with the tickets the cubs gave him. (twenty maybe?) he had two extra so he handed them off to two random cops from 022. So while you all stood around for 12 plus hours, the supt staff was enjoying the game on the cubs. Nice right?

I've been listening to the Chicago Police scanner broadcasts during the Cubs parade (I'm a civilian). First - thank you to all the officers on patrol. My hat is also off to the radio dispatchers! I am amazed at how they keep all the information flowing even during the most confusing of times. I don't know how they do it!

Bulls riots. That's funny.

Yeah that's funny! Glad you find policemen shot and shot at funny. In, 92, when one tact team (mine), from out of district, were sent from the stadium to Madison and Karlov, where three 11th District Officers were pinned down by gunfire. The bosses knew we were undermanned, what was happening there, and sent us anyway. The unnamed tact team that was supposed to report with us never even showed up. There was a crowd of 1000 throwing everything at us and shooting at us and the firemen, fighting a huge blaze behind us. St. Louis to Oak Park Avenue on Madison was trashed. A policeman was shot on Monroe, just south of us. I will again thank the brave officer from 11 who jumped on the CFD engine and turned the multiversal on the crowd as they were making their move on us. While under gunfire, he saved all of our lives. They had now fired a shotgun at us. Don't know who he is but he should have got an award. No it was not the 68 riots, but it certainly was a riot. It was hardly on the news and the reporters got the hell out early. The bosses didn't show up until daylight. There were many tact teams being held at Humboldt park, and the powers that be would not release them to assist us. I wonder where you were, since you didn't know it happened.

Retired

Chicago is important to the election. It is wise to move the parade to the end of the week and let the more important event run its course even if the excuse is lame.

Vote for Trump. Beholden to no one.

11/03/2016 02:49:00 PM

The world is crazy watch this video, you think Farrakan makes no sense? Watch this video advance to 2:17 listen to what hillary clinton has said and done to annihilate the black community, wow and if any blacks follow the democratic sheep herder and vote for her your destroying the future of black children and the poor:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTCy1jYczRs

Listen to the positives he says about Trump he supports Trump, even this man realizes how corrupt the clinton crime killing machine is! Listen to the award Margret Sanger award that hillary got and how this award is in honor of a woman who wanted to exterminate the black population the lying media should be talking this up what a disgrace and hillary honors this woman! Like when hillary honored the mother of thugs that tried to kill police officers at her pathetic convention! Trump highlighted Sheriff David Clarke a great man the choice is easy Trump!

This video is current 30oct16!!

God bless the police and "law and order" pro-police candidate Trump time for every race to hand the democrats a massive defeat so to stop them from their continued march to destroy America!

There were bulls riots, a lot of shit in 011 and 007 happened. Idont know where you were at, but there were riots. Different levels in different situations but there were riots.

If I would have had it as good as the burglary team in 025 this would have been a piece of cake! I think the only 12 hour day they worked was today. They spent the rest of the time watching the games in the office and eating like it was an Olympic sport..then they want to act like we all should love 12 hour days.Look up the burglary cases in the district. They are useless.

If you are still bitter, ask yourself, why do you cheer for the Chicago Bears football team which has historical ties to Wrigley Field? Your team (the Chicago Cardinals) pulled up stakes and moved more than fifty years ago.

I guess for the same reason you cheer for the Cubs, a team that has historical ties to.........the south side!
The Cubs played at West Side Park located at Polk and Wood Streets, from 1894 through 1915. Polk being south of Madison.

Lighten up Francis, and enjoy the Championship, it may be another 108 years before Cub fans will see another. As you have probably guessed, I'm a Sox fan, but I am happy, not bitter, that the Cubs finally won.

The schools were ALREADY scheduled for a day off, before the beginning of the school year.
It had nothing to do with the Cubs.

ps: In case any of you 'older' guys wondered, YES, you weren't wrong or having deja vu, he does have a familiar name. He's the son of Tito Francona, a journeyman player in the American League who made one stop with the White Sox in 1958, and yep, Tito played a couple years in Cleveland too.

Terry Francona had a short stint with the White sox in the late 80's.

Ummm...not quite. Francona played for the Cubs in '86. He managed in the minors for various levels of White Sox affiliates, including the Birmingham Barons, including the time Michael Jordan tried his hand at baseball.

I don't cheer for the Bears. My father raised me to be a White Sox/Cardinals fan. He explained how the he was a Cardinal even after they moved. So in his memory I'll remain a Cardinals fan. No true Sox fan is bitter. It's just that a real Sox fan will never ever cheer a Cubs victory.

I was in high school for the King Riots and shot pictures of the ruins and on the job for the Bulls riots. Big difference in the amount of destruction done and the fact that we were prepared for what was coming when the Bulls won or lost.

In '91 there was a lot of organized looting. Cars and trucks were lined up, they hit specific stores, loaded up and dumped the merchandise into empty garages. Then went back for more. Once started, the rest of the neighborhood joined in and when there was nothing good left to steal then the store were often lit up.

We may be in for worse when some of the verdicts come in for some of these officer involved shooting trials Kim Fox is pushing.

Great job CPD! Between the winning night and the parade it all went off without many problems given the sheer number of people celebrating. I thought this was one of CPDs finest hours - so many truly professional police on the streets showing proper restraint while still keeping the masses in control.
