Five Million?

We suspect the guys counting the votes for the Machine are the ones doing crowd estimates for Rahm.

It certainly wasn't anywhere over 4.3 million.

Regardless, a great job by all the coppers in the trenches who made it succeed, in spite of the disastrous planning and incompetence on display by the current command staff.

Who the hell did the counting, a two year old? Working both this shit show and many, many Bears games I would estimate the rally in Grant Park to be no more than 100,000 - 150,000. That leaves more than 4 million around Wrigley Field . . . yeah, right. But yes, the POs in the trenches did a great job with what they had to work with.

Even if you count all the illegal aliens, there aren't even 4 million people in Chicago. This estimate is total B.S.

I'm retired C.P.D. I watched the entire parade on TV. I just want to say thanks. The police did an outstanding job on a crowd which was much larger than any of the Bulls, Bear or White Sox parades.

OT. SCC can you post judges that you feel should be retained? PO friendly? To be honest I vote NO (& will vote no again) to all judges being retained because they seem to let every POS in cook county out early or dismiss the case only to have them commit more crimes. Report on the news yesterday about Dart finally getting the numbers down in the jails, letting non violent offenders out. crime just keeps on keeping on.

Streets and San. should have removed their chain link fences from the west side of the Van Buren bridge between Michigan Ave. and Columbus drive to allow the crowd to exit. It's Devine Providence that no one was trampled to death.

What kind of planning can you do with 24 hour notice. Not much, I have been involved with these things and not easy to pull off. Good job by the city on this one. Give them thier due. Fight each battle as needed. NOW ALL YOU WORKING COPPERS NEED TO VOICE YOUR OPINIONS ON HOW BAD THE CITY IS TREATING THE RETIREES REGARDING HEALTH CARE BENEFITS, IT WILL AFFECT ALL OF YOU TOO.

4 out of the 5 million were brand new fans looking for a big party. They wore their Chinese-made Cubs shirts and hats quite proudly. Seriously, it was the Chinese clothing factories that benefitted the most from the Cubs winning the WS, not the city of Chicago.
Vote for TRUMP and we will bring the manufacturing jobs back here to the USA and we'll make America GREAT again!

Probably the worst part of all of this is that we now have a lot of the brain trust that will really think that they know what they are doing seeing that there weren't many problem. Between the nights at Wrigley Field & the parade & rally there weren't any problems. Arrest, injuries & damage never happened in mass. So the bosses now think that it is because of them. THEY ARE SADLY MISTAKEN

either no one bothered to do an actual estimate or someone decided to lie...both unacceptable scenarios. like the event order--if there had been an incident- requiring a second operational period or outside resources-the order was unacceptable.it did not even account for deployed resources.

I think it's closer to 3-3.5 million. It was the most massive parade I have ever seen in this city.

Can we talk about the fact that out of the 10 officers in our post only our Sgt had a radio? I had no clue what was going on the whole day and let's not talk about the fact that we almost got trampled and had no way of calling for back up.

Yet they underestimate the amount of gang members in Chicago which is more than the Cubs rally.

I worked the event and was near Grant Park.
There were lots and lots of people down there but I believe 5 Million is a bit of an exaggeration.
Then again this is Rahm's team and we all know how Rahm likes to fudge numbers.

Rahm is seeking to collect (grab) $1 for every attendee from some inflated government fund.
Like the yearly revenue that the State pays Chicago for just the opening first day of CPS attendance.

Too many times this goes on during parades or events. Go out and buy a radio like you see at the bottom of "Hey Jackass". $40-75 and you program it with CPD, Sheriff, State and suburbs. Well worth it.

8:08am - You obviously did not work it because there was nothing but problems!! The crowd was totally out of control at the rally knocking over barrier fences onto people already inside injuring them, people throwing glass bottles sending many to hospitals, total grid lock on the streets after the crowds took them over, so many ambulance runs that suburban paramedics had to be called in, so many injured that they had to be shipped to suburban hospitals, drunks everywhere climbing on every structure, vehicle and lamppost, idiots breaking car windows and hundreds of cops running from one emergency to another! What the fuck dreamland were you in or are you just one of the little five digit midget's boot lickers.

I was worried about this thing, but the boys and girls in Blue did an outstanding job. A shout out to streets and san too, they were the ones putting barricades out all night. The numbers were huge, needless to say the largest gathering ever in Chicago and they say the 7th largest gathering of people in history. As much as we all bitch about the bosses and the city, it was an awesome event and it all worked out in the end. Be careful out there boys and girls.
