Another Gun Offender Walks

  • To Garry McCarthy, then Chicago’s police superintendent, there was no doubt about it: Antonio Brown should have been locked up.

On July 5, 2015, McCarthy told reporters that Brown had been the intended target of a gang shooting at a Fourth of July celebration the night before that instead left Brown’s 7-year-old son Amari dead.

With TV cameras rolling, McCarthy paged through Brown’s rap sheet, which he said included 45 arrests. And beyond that, Brown had been arrested for illegal gun possession that April and then released on bail — an example, McCarthy said, of gun offenders being treated too lightly by the justice system.

“If Mr. Brown is in custody,” he said, “his son is alive.”
This was the case where the 7-year-old was out after midnight and caught a round intended for dear old dad:
  • On April 6, 2015, two West Side police officers responded to a radio call saying that a gold Infiniti had fled from police in West Humboldt Park — and that the driver might have a gun in his lap.

On the Eisenhower Expressway, the cops caught sight of the car, which Brown was driving while another man was in the passenger’s seat, according to their report. When he saw the police, they said, Brown tried to veer off the highway and crashed.

The officers’ report said they saw Brown “exit the vehicle while holding a black revolver in his right hand. Offender then turned and tossed same revolver onto right seat of vehicle.”
The gun was recovered just where the police said it was tossed. But what does the lawyer say?
  • Rotunno, a former Cook County prosecutor, says, “I’m not some bleeding heart for the gang community.” She didn’t dispute that a gun was found. But she argued there was no proof it belonged to Brown or that the police had seen him holding it. She pointed out that he didn’t own the car and that it had been on the side of the expressway during the foot chase, so someone could have put the gun before or after Brown was in the car.
Um...what? We thought it was just the cops who got accused of planting guns on people, at scenes, in cars. But the lawyer can spin a yarn about mysterious strangers running around, tossing guns in the car of high-ranking member of a particularly notorious west side gang. And the judge bought it.

The gun charge aside, how does this judge find him not guilty on all nine counts? I'm not privy to all the facts, but based on what I read, it sounds like a fleeing and eluding and leaving the scene of an accident charges are pretty apparent.

This judge was just doing his part as a lawyer to keep the money flowing. The judge knows that police aren't locking anyone up anymore, and this is his small gift to the Chicago legal community. With Antonio back on the street, he'll surely do something that warrants hiring a Chicago Bar Attorney in the coming months. The police are the pawns for the lawyers, politicians and businessmen to make money.

Happens all the time. The judges simply don't believe that people carry guns and try to throw them when they see the police. Then we wonder why we have close to 800 murders a year. But hey, at least the jail isn't crowded

Another example of why we need to publish the names of judges who are not pro-police, and warn the public before elections. Somebody also needs to publish the names and addresses of sitting Crook County judges. Then the people they release can drop by to thank them personally. What you need is a State Attorney with a personal interest and a Judge who spent ten years at law school and working with the State Attorney as prosecutors together. Then when the trial comes up, the State disregards all of the defendants evidence, and judge Garritt Howard of Skokie says Fuck you, Guilty..

Thanks Prick !

You should all read the report. There is no question as to why he was found not guilty. It was a terrible story and terrible writing. This is what happens when you have guys with three years being dots and guys who have never had numerous felony arrests and trials. When you go to court and testify and win cases and lose lasers you learn how paper needs to be written and how you need to testify in order to get a conviction. You need to write your paper on day one thinking about any possible motions and a trial in the future and make sure you write your paper accordingly as to be sure it will withstand pc hearing, motion and appeal. Too many guys leave their paper with too many holes in it and the desk Agra need to catch that too but never say anything anymore. Everyone blames the judges and states attornies but when you read the paper it's garbage and usually not enough to justify a stop half the time. But of course anytime a copper loses in court or someone is critical of their paper they get defensive and blame everyone else. You want convictions?? Then go all the way and make sure the story sticks and can pass muster. If you are too scared and just want to tell a little half and half then you will lose your case. It's either all or nothing. If your not going to go all the way then just let him go because you are gonna lose and get a lawsuit in the end. Go all the way and get a conviction and protect yourself. That means articulating absolutely everything and covering all your bases and making sure it is sufficient to the law and leaves no room for legal arguments.

Bench Trial SCC?

Isn't that a right that "Da Communerty,"the

stripping from The Police?

"Bench Trials help Police in avoiding
tha peoples (and folkses) JUSTICE!"

Isn't that what those two incompetent
she-mules were braying about in
Baltimore after going 0/6 in the
Freddie Gray case attempted Police
Officer lynching?

And that cry was taken up nation-wide.

Good thing that vicious, prevaricating,
pant-suited crone self-immolated.
It would've been something altogether
different for Police, Policing and
rule of law had she won.

"WAH! It wuz a 'spiracy!
The system is RIGGED against US
getting JUSTICE against da Po-leece!"

No capability of introspection
whatsoever in this crowd, eh?

Why... Shouldn't the usuals be shouting
from the rooftops about this particular
instance of "justice" and use it as an
example of the "settling of scores"
their skewed vision of "justice" tends
to entail?

Very well put...

We tend to think of Chicago as a city built on a
forgotten, unconsecrated burial ground hewn out
of a poorly drained swamp...

As time goes by... More and more ghastly grinners
come percolating out of the ground.

Just ignore 'em.
They do what they do...
An entire industrial complex is wholly
devoted to denying they exist, and if
you notice them, you're "racist."

Or at least some mean, insensitive,
conservative some-kind-of-phobe...

Meanwhile?

"It's the Police who are the problem!
Once we fix THEM, everything else will
be just fine! Just you wait and see..."

Just trying to shelter-in-place for a
minute while watching the flotsam float by.

Heh...
Understanding why some folks who live
in proximity to "Big Muddy" sometimes
kept a row-boat on the roof of the house.

Could it be lack of evidence? Maroon hard chargers hardly take the time to process firearms for EZ Ghetto 1-2-3 UUW.
Chases for an "Ain't my guh'n" arrest have to produce some sort of CB.
Sometimes you can blame them, who wants to wait 3 hrs. for 1 of 6 Citywide ETs then another 3 hrs for the Area?
Cannot say what's a good arrest is anymore, nobody is guilty in the sub-standard Cook Co system.

The judges are the cause of the violence in this city. I personally watched last week as a judge made a ruling that because the police officers did not know the offender didn't possess a valid foid or ccl as he was running away from officers the officers didn't have probable cause to detain the offender. Motion was granted and bad guy is now free to kill or mame another city resident.

Because another innocent African American wasn't gonna be put behind bars if she could prevent it

Remove the drama for the cops, please. I see some hollering about reports, ok, so lets fix this.

First, outfit each officer with body and car cams. Second, send TEAMS out on specific warrants to capture specific people. Use of force FLOOR dictated to START WITH right there according to the warrant issued and responsibility for that floor resting on the issuing party. That way, pathatically evil lawyers cannot spin these wicked tales of coulda been, mighta possibly maybe in some universe somewhere possibly maybe happen presented as "reasonable doubt" in comparison to 1080 audio and video.

At some point, the judiciary has to be held to account. At some point, they have to be dissolved and then reborn as a matter of legislative funding for a NEW judicial system that is bound to the legislated code and subject to removal from the bench and tried themselves for refusing to apply the convictions and punishments they are handed to apply.

How can anyone be arrested dozens and dozens and dozens of times and still be out on the street? This is ridiculous!

Now that we have concealed carry you cant just stop people only because you think they have a gun because then youd be potentially stopping people that are carrying within the law which is violating their rights. Especially in cook county where it takes 30arrests for a felony conviction

All of our bitching and moaning are not productive. And if you see the word "Associate" on the nameplate, we can only shame because an Associate Judge does not face retention. Please furnish SCC with the full name & title. With Kimesha at the SAO, we will need to humiliate the fools on the bench as well as praise those jurists who have the intention of incarceration those guilty citizens. Forget what the Tribune and Prickwrinkle say about too many blacks being incarcerated. Once we lose our streets - we will never win them back again.

Cook County is overflowing with stupid bleeding heart liberal morons who keep voting for this crap, and people with common sense keep leaving the state. Have been recently up along the lake by N'western, and saw nothing this fall but hillary and jan schittkowsky for congress signs. What a couple of nasty communist hypocritical women!! UGH!! This boatload of stupid, brainwashed, obozo worshiping sheep are at the heart of the state's problems, corruption, incompetence, and loss of revenue, business, and people. These self-important, overcredentialed but undereducated, arrogant snobs would rather die than own up to a long history of stupidly voting for communists, or heaven forbid, be thought a **racist**. What a bunch of dopes. They think they are the most tolerant, open-minded people on the planet, but you never have seen a bigger bunch of groupthink, closed-minded, intolerant, closed-minded, pussified bedwetters. I never would move to IL and feel sorry for the people trapped in that state who know the score but who are unable to pull up stakes.
