Violent Escape
- A 24-year-old prison inmate escaped Monday on the Near West Side during an apparently planned getaway.
Harron Raggs, 24, broke away from an Illinois Department of Corrections transport vehicle about 12:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Oakley Boulevard in the city’s Tri-Taylor neighborhood, authorities said.
A short time later, someone in a red Chevrolet Impala picked him up at Taylor Street and Oakley. While fleeing, it plowed into an IDOC squad car, authorities said.
The Impala, which sustained damage to its right front, had no front license plate and its windows were tinted, authorities said.

I wanted to do something but I didn't wanna be classified as a racist. My bad.
Unless the state or county was on scene you can't do much but wave goodbye to dude as soon as he accelerates over the speed limit. Shit like this should be shoved in every aldermans face when it comes to Chicago police chase policy. Better yet, some youts should target these assholes and taunt/beat them till the police arrive and casually stroll to their cars and flee. Then we should make sure to tell the alderasshole that nothing can be done because they fled by car and CPD can't chase per their order.
Good. I hope everyone in county and Statesville break out right as summer gets here. My only condition is the criminals have to specifically target Illinois politicians and members of Chicagos "media."
Can't chase.
Free, free as a little birdie.
What a dummy! Had he waited, Dart would've released him that afternoon.
How does someone break away from an idoc vehicle? Inside job. That's what happens when you lower standards to ridiculous levels, you get wolves guarding wolves.
The article actually mentions that he's black. I guess it's ok to mention the race of a black criminal once he's already in prison... or was anyway.
Good should've never been released.
.maybe.........just maybe he was late for work,....cause he dindu nuffin......
Actual planning. I am shocked.
CPD can't chase an escapee? Our shift commander would probably call it off too. That's if he is awake and listening to the radio.

So many questions than answers, but real...DILLIGAF?
It's good nobody tells the Lazy Fake News media anything on the scene or from behind a cellophone.
And it's always best that they rely on the Overstaffed CPD Office of News Affairs to fax out a vague statement.
And in 5 years the warrant will expire and he'll be totally free. Thanks Tom Dart.
Would have been out on electronic monitoring anyways. He's out a little sooner-what's the big deal.
Under state law an escaping sentenced prisoner can, and should be shot on sight. Day 17 police academy training.
I got a serious kick out of him "serving a sentence".... Serving a Sentence? He broke out of prison? He was reporting to his PO which means he wasn't IN prison, and that means he wasn't "serving" any "sentence". He SHOULD have been, he was caught by cops, convicted of a serious crime and sentenced.
Yet another example of one who by ALL RIGHTS was SUPPOSED to be IN PRISON when he committed MORE crimes.
Here is a thought, how about we keep the convicts in prison while they "serve their sentence".
How could any self respecting journalist even write such tripe as he was "serving his sentence"? Sheesh!
Starting to see many more cars on the road with tinted windows. Even during daytime hours it's hard to see inside. Can no longer write a moving violation.
Off topic- has anyone had the pleasure to interact with Jessica the civilian caseworker @ the medical section? OMG... what a hater!
Anyone else notice that OEMC doesn't do "All Call Message " anymore? 10 years ago this would have been broadcasted on every zone every 30 minutes.
Probably crashed while distracted and eating a wonderful Taylor street Italian ice.
The courts were probably going to let him go anyway.
Love the typo'd tattoo on the neck, to publicly display that he's an idiot to the world, for the rest of his life (tho, granted, it's probably not going to be that long).
"Trust none"
Including the illiterate tattoo "artist" who permanently defiled you.
Thanks, SCC, for the chuckle.

One word: boner.
And to the escapee that any real police officer with any substance between his ears knows, we cannot and will not pursue your vehicle. As the Japanese would say, "Sayonara mother fucker." We'll respond to the shots fired/person shot call he will likely be the perpetrator/victim of. Can I get some crime scene tape? Hurry up, the next issue for me to not give a fuck about is on deck.
Cooter can out run a fleeing vehicle. Now pull my finger...

Cool observation. Why the fuck would you want to write a moving violation? I assume you're mentioning this because it's a safety concern when approaching these vehicles. Here's an idea: don't fucking stop them. You'll be nice and safe inside your car. Stop generating revenue while needlessly endangering yourself.

Please don't say dumb shit like this. People may believe you. You actually probably believe it. Shoot an escaped prisoner just for being an escaped prisoner and tell us how you like your prison cell. Here's some interesting reading for you:
"Sec. 7-9. Use of force to prevent escape.
(a) A peace officer or other person who has an arrested person in his custody is justified in the use of such force to prevent the escape of the arrested person from custody as he would be justified in using if he were arresting such person.
(b) A guard or other peace officer is justified in the use of force, including force likely to cause death or great bodily harm, which he reasonably believes to be necessary to prevent the escape from a penal institution of a person whom the officer reasonably believes to be lawfully detained in such institution under sentence for an offense or awaiting trial or commitment for an offense."
You have to reasonably believe that the deadly force is necessary. You can't just shoot on sight because someone is an escaped convict. What if he walks into the station to turn himself in? Are you going to shoot him on sight? What if you see him driving down the street and you pull him over? Are you going to walk up to the car and shoot him in the face? What if he was going to surrender and go back to prison peacefully? You're an idiot and a danger to your own freedom and career. You're also spreading your stupidity to others. Stop doing that. Learn the law if you want to tell other people about it. Don't just make shit up and pretend you learned it in the academy. You have to be able to justify any force you use as being reasonable and necessary. The main thing that worries me is that you made the strangely specific statement about "Day 17 police academy training." Please tell me you don't teach at the academy. You should be reassigned immediately. If you somehow remembered that you were taught this imaginary "shoot on sight" law on a specific day of your academy training, well then that's just weird, especially if you supposedly remember the exact day you learned it, but can't remember what the law actually says.

I'm on a couple of sites where the gearheads talk about stuff, including tint.
They know the police aren't stopping anyone anymore, so more and more of them are getting heavier tint and deliberately flaunting it.

No no NO ! Here's what happened...
Our heroic and unjustly confined protagonist began a journey of liberation and self-actualization with the help of his consorts who joined in his valiant battle against tyranny and opression.
Cops just aren't any good at shaping the narrative and manipulating public opinion. Please attend The Medill School of Journalism and try to do better.
Don't worry boys, I just got Reggie Hammond out of Menard and we are going to find this bastard, after massages of course.
Datts right and get me a 40.
