Attacks on Police Up

  • According to the Little Rock Police Department, active aggression against its officers is up 134 percent from 2015 to 2016. That oftentimes forces officers to respond.

“I like working the streets,” said Officer Stephen Gorbet. “You get to see all walks of life… there’s no such thing as a routine stop.” Officer Gorbet learned that very quickly into his 27-year law enforcement career. He was forced to shoot and ultimately kill someone his first year on the job.

“I stopped a guy for running a red light and we got into a struggle,” Gorbet said. “He began to beat me with a fence post and unfortunately, I had to shoot him.” Since then, Officer Gorbet has had to resort to deadly force one other time with minor uses of force, like his baton and pepper spray, sprinkled in. “It seems like everybody is kind of against the police, especially the last two years,” he said.

Little Rock police records back that up. From 2015 to 2016, reports of active aggression against officers skyrocketed from 65 to 152 or 134 percent.
The Department used to come out with a colorful bulletin years ago, outlining the Uses of Force, attacks on Officers, TRR's filled out, etc. We haven't seen one in years now, maybe ten or more years. Did they stop printing it? Or did they (read Lewin) just hide it among the electronic clutter of stats and graphs so no one could see how attacks on Officers have risen dramatically?

Just a few days ago a DEA agents working a drug operation had to shoot the driver of a car as he drove towards them. No problem for the DEA officers as they acted in self defense. But if you do it as a Chicago Police officer you can expect to lose your job, your income, your family security and maybe go to jail. Cars at times are used as weapons. Just last week the daughter of a Chicago Police officer was slammed against a tree and run over several times. She died because she could not outrun a speeding car driven by someone who wanted to kill. Police officers have the right to protect themselves too.
However the City of Chicago works under a different premise, that it is cheaper to pay for the funeral of a Chicago Police Officer then to defend them in a lawsuit brought forth by the family of the asshole that tried to run down a cop.
Long time retired. Just hoping that all active officers get to one day enjoy their lives away from this hell hole of a city.

Heh!
Well... Yeah...

Of course attacks on The Police are up.
So are attacks on everything that is
representative and/or symbolic of the
the overall good that is upright, law abiding
society.

It's no secret that the large democrat-controlled
urban center white-guilting Alinskyite Progressives
and their politically weaponized allies in MSM and
at the ballot box, are at the forefront of "change."

Some of those allies are those Catered -To Constituencies
of the perpetual Race Card grievants, the fervent
Ciudad Santuarioistas and the host of unceasingly
hostile, furiously non-assimilationist, peoples and
folkses being waved in from every anti-Christian/
anti-Western/anti-Democratic hell hole of this world.

Those peoples and folkses are wholly unable to
take even the first step in solving their own problems
in the boiling-over, death-loving shit-holes they
hail from. Yet they are fervently committed allies in
insuring that OUR peaceful recourse for redress via
the ballot box In order to excise the rot of Progressivism,
has been thoroughly gamed/jiggered and shit in as to
be rendered ineffective...

Save for the failure of HRC to
"Seal The Deal," which has
caused so much weeping and
hand-wringing on the left.

Therefore, many a cultural symbol
is being pulled down due to the
extended Progressive tantrum.

Even The Police.

And even if The Police were unerring in every way...
Even if Policemen were "wholly accountable" in
the manner these rattle-minded Progressive children
fervently envision, The Police would still be miscast
as what's wrong with Chicago and other cities.

Simply because they stand for something...

Apologies for the length, SCC.
"Real Feel" runs deep sometimes.

Not much different than the double standard where the Feds and the DOJ are complaining CPD officers are allowed 24 hours before they make a statement after a shooting when they allow the FBI 72 hours. They should look in the mirror before criticizing the COD and in this case use the FBI as the standard

Somebody help me with the math. What does "up 134%" really mean? For example, if they had 100 incidents the year before and 134 last year, isn't that up about a third? Isn't that the same as up 33%?

Here's the help: the number of incidents were at 65. 100% growth would be 65+65 or 65×2 meaning 100% of itself. The latest incidents totaled 152 which is 134% of the original # 65. 152-(65×2)=22. 22 is roughly a third or33/34 percent of 65. Hence, a 134%. Got it?

The vast majority of people that I know respect and like LEOs, from the thirteen-year-old girl who lives next door to the 90-year-old friend in a nursing home. From the comments in articles online, to the people that I meet whenever I go out (I ride a Sportster, a LOT of strangers talk to me!), I meet very few that are against the police.
So take heart, you have a lot of support, it's just the nature of your job that causes you to meet the worst people.

I doubt it to. One reason is the city would have to pay $2 for every $1 we pay into social security. And they woul have to pay it monthly when it's due and not try to kick the payments down the road. If the city did that with our pension we would not be in this situation
No way they want to pay when the money is due

Using you example of crime going from 100 to 134...
1) 100(last year incidents)x X (unk percentage of increase) / 100 = 34 (134-100)
2) 100X/100=34
3) to get rid of the divider 100 you must multiple 34 by 100.
4) 100X=3400
3) to get the unk X you have to divide 3400 by 100 which equals 34% which is your answer.
