And Isn't This Ironic...
- A 58-year-old man was shot dead Saturday afternoon less than a block away from the anti-violence organization where he worked on the South Side, his family and police said.
The man, Willie Cooper, was one of 14 people shot Saturday citywide.
Cooper was walking in the 100 block of West 95th Street when a dark colored vehicle approached and someone inside fired, hitting him in the mouth and torso about 4:15 p.m., police and family members said.
He was pronounced dead on the scene in the Princeton Park neighborhood, according to police.
At one point this weekend, Chicago racked up 30 shot in 30 hours (eight dead and twenty-two wounded.)
Final totals later this morning.

The death penalty should be reinstated. At least it would ensure that a murderer would never murder again. A slow method to rid society of POS one at a time, but time well spent.
Shot dead, on he street, in broad daylight!
And Lamon and Jedidiah were upset that a different activist whom they did not know took over the prayer vigil they wanted to lead. All of 10 people were there (on Jed's live feed of the event) Anyway there was some pushing and shoving involved. (By the way Lamon and Jed are both self proclaimed Reverends now) LOL
Rip, thats sad man. I cant even say anything bad about this.
He wasn't very good at his job.
Convicted felon who is allegedly involved in Narcotics trade in the area, he may have been trying to help the community in a good way but he definitely wasn't an innocent.
Love the Alanis reference. You oughta know!
I wonder if the shooters attended BAM.
Shot dead, in broad daylight, in the sanctuary city of Chicago, and not a cop in sight to blame it on. Could it be that all those liberal democrats are wrong? It's not too much law and order, but a lack of law and order getting folks killed?
J.J.
Isn't that really close to Obama's church? I know he prefers mosques anyway.
How is Ryan's moratorium on capital punishment working out for the citizens of the state?
Stuff like this didn't happen when Eastern Europeans ruled the roost on the East Side.
It looks like an assignation, remember there are no coincidences unless the facts tell you that is was and in this case I'll bet an assignation.
A little too ironic, and yeah I really do think...

I've been saying that for years. If a suspect is definitely guilty, no trials, no expensive IV's. Shot or hanged. More economical.

Except that society seems to breed replacements faster than the death penalty removes them. All you can do is try to move away and hope that they don't follow. But they do...
If you're working in that area be careful, they used a rifle.
Dust to dust again!
Don't fool yourself. He was no saint.

By any chance, did you mean assassination?
could there be a little al Sharpton,in the brother ?
The deceased also had a weapon that went missing from crime scene I'm hearing. He definitely was no saint
He was deep in the dope game and owed a lot of $$$$$ to a few people. He also regularly carried a pistol which was taken from the holster on his hip by the offenders before they fled. What's that??? You didn't hear that on the news??? Of course not, it doesn't fit the script that he was an "anti violence" crusader. Live by the gat, die by the gat. No fucks given for this phony ass piece of shit.
Just the 5th district, ok....
Well the Dirty Old Bastard wrote what I was wondering. I read the Channel 7 comments and fell into his charitable work. Then I came here to see what cops were writing. Now I have another persona of ole Willie to think about. I wondered why if he was so good to the hood why someone would hit him? He must have had something going on that pissed someone off and it was not finding jobs or buying shoes, clothes and food for poor people.
That bullshit about all the good this cocksucker did was just that. He was in the drug trade heavy, that was the reason he was there checking on his sales. He had the alderman in his pocket, thats how he was able to give his relatives those jobs at construction sites. A real piece of shit.
Gun control=Epic Fail
What about the dope he had on him. No doubt he was in the drug game. He made his bed and now he's sleeping in it. RIP you piece of shit.
well, ill be dang,a do gooder up to no good.i am surprised
Thanks now I can't get that song out of my head.
