Surprise Gas Tax

Remember when Pelosi sold American's a bullshit Bill by telling her party, "we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it"? Madigan snuck one in on Illinois taxpayers:
  • Now that Illinois has a budget, people are taking a closer look at some of the hidden costs associated with this deal.

Tucked inside the 583-page budget bill are a few pages that detail a hidden tax hike. It's expected to raise $95 million for the state, but it means we'll be paying more every time we fill up our gas tank.

Gas prices in Chicago are currently $0.44 a gallon higher than the national average and they will soon be going up even more.

[...] That's because of the elimination of a 20-percent sales tax credit that was given to wholesalers on unleaded gas containing ethanol. That cost will be passed along to consumers - $0.04 to $0.05 a gallon - depending on where you live.
Even better, since it's a Sales Tax, it doesn't even go to repair roads that are already falling apart. It goes into the General Fund where it can be appropriated for just about anything.

You can bet there are more hidden surprises that will be trickling out, each one of them costing taxpayers money.

I wish I could say this is unbelievable but we all know it isn't. Whacking Illinois residents with a huge hike in the state income tax now this. Add on Toni Prickwankles sugar tax and it gets insulting. Illinois will soon go bankrupt along with Chicago. Madigan, Cullerton, and Emmanuel figures they can declare bankruptcy and get out of pension obligations and other debt. There is a method to the madness.

This is a sales tax lumped in with all the other taxes on the purchase of gasoline at the pump. There is a reason why, unlike grocery bills or utility bills or phone bills, etc, that all the taxes and fees aren't listed at the pump. Just another reason to buy in Wisconsin or Indiana. This tax will be cover the entire state, so going to another county only diminishes the impact on the wallet. Can't escape otherwise.

Since it goes in the general revenue fund will it be used to specially target monies owed to contractors, the pension problem, or other debt laden program? No, of course not. It will be used to spend on projects where contractors are rewarded for their political contributions. Just as with the Quinn tax increase, the pension shortage was not addressed.

There is no tax that a demorat doesn't like, while at the same time hating to cut any program even 1% from its budget. Not even cut one penny from every dollar would the demorats dare to do. Now even some repubs fall into this description.

Rauner was right to veto the bill without cuts.

Springfield will raise taxes at the end of the year or next year, bank on it.

Another reason to leave this state when the time comes.

Best thing about this is people actually think that these tax hikes are going to solve the problem. Is anybody asking if there will be a special review board that will monitor how these new tax dollars are dispensed and to whom the money is going to? No , nobody is demanding an accountability group for these crooks and they'll do exactly what they've done before and make each other rich from the new taxes and fuck over the taxpayers and they'll get away with it. There's still no checks and balances for these politicians. Every time tax monies are used it should be tracked and made available to the public so we can see where the money is going.

They will expect to raise 95 million, but will get less when business and people move out of state, and buy their gas over the border. Then they will raise another tax to make it up. Do you see how we got here? Then they will tell you we hate to do it, but it is all for the children...Madigan Daley, and Emmanuel will be long gone when this city and states worst days come. The names will change but the story will not.

Indiana is a much better run state, and its only next door. Much less gas tax, and more successful businesses every day. Wisconsin, and Iowa are pretty much the same. Get the picture? Many people are proud to live in Chicago, but I cant for the life of me explain why. Neither can they...I get the family thing...But a two hour trip on the holidays, and living in a better community beats them all.

This is why the leftist politicians want open boarders. They screw the taxpaying citizens with crap like this. Then they don't have to worry because the likes of Obama tells the illegals it's ok to vote, and you know they vote democratic. No repercussions for the fleecing of the taxpayers.

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

Open rant. I do realize many of you see the ugly aspect of Chicago each day. But remember this is all by design to put one class against another. Communication or lack of it lead us down this path. Simple reasoning here. I work in the IT field. Self taught. My first gig was making 15 a hour, now I can make 50-60. Difficult, yes lot of bumps and bruises but I am there. Now for whatever reason my path to this is not communicated in the unemployment office, the welfare office or any local politician's office. They do not want to hear about this. You know why? I am the type of person that now no longer needs them. They cannot prop me up as a tool. I have attempted to teach my skills to many youngsters but it is frustrating. End of my rant.
