Did You Feel Something?
Whoops:
That's a pretty big hole. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
- Two Chicago police officers are in critical condition after crashing into a construction barrier on the city's South Side.
The crash happened just after 4 a.m. Thursday at a construction site at 83rd and Woodlawn.
The police SUV crashed through a concrete barrier, then dropped into a hole dug into the intersection, trapping both officers.
The Chicago Fire Department had to extricate the male officers, and both were rushed to Christ Hospital in critical condition with non-life threatening injuries.
That's a pretty big hole. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I was visiting a person in 003... fuck that area.. you gotta navigate around the Berlin Wall to get where u r going over there
Ouch!
Hairgel + Throttle = Oops.
What were they trying to do, a Smokey and the Bandit, and jump the hole?
Chicago has some of the biggest/deepest potholes in the world.
Like to know the truth on that mess up!
Wishing both a speedy recovery!
Stay safe CPD and God Bless...
Always remember to put the car in park before you get a little snooze time.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery and return to duty.
J.J.
You are supposed to go around the concrete walls.
In a rush to go NO where!
To fast for conditions. Thats what is used when nothing else can be found. Ticket?
If there are marked barriers wtf? driving school for the driver after he recooperates?
Now we know what the old timers meant by "Find a hole"...
Could the driver have pulled a Vujic? Give extra points to anyone who knows what I am talking about.
This reminds me of the 12th District Commander who drove past the barriers into freshly poured cement.
What happened to him?
I recall in 006 some years back a squad was moving fast down a side street on a call when ti ran smack into a metal post right in the middle of the street that nearly split the car in two. It seems that the city blocked the street the day before and added the metal post but failed to mark the post, add any flashing lights or signs. The barrier was virtually invisible in the dark.
Saw a TV report on the news, a resident said he believed the officers were avoiding someone going the wrong way. Said it happens a lot on that street were the construction is going on.
Tell the officers there was a UFO sighting in the area at the time of the accident.
They were practicing for the helicopter unit and...failed.
"both were rushed to Christ Hospital in critical condition with non-life threatening injuries."
Critical condition yet non-life threatening? Someone care to explain? Best wishes officers.
The good news is they are not in critical condition. Get well soon
Just the good ol boys, never meaning no harm.
Beats all you've never saw, been in trouble with the law...
(Now that Strip'm Special Ed is on the case).
Speedy recovery and a couple cans of Bondo, that Ford will be back in the pool fleet by Christmas.
Ch-Ch-Cholly Williams says the wall just got 10 feet higher to avoid any further jump attempts.
Surely a lesson was learned by the distracted lads.
Get well kids and count your blessings.
Carbon monoxide/dioxide induced?
I dropped my joint and it was burning a hole in the carpet, so I looked down and picked it and the barrier was like right there man
Dukes of Hazzard horn sound keeps going thru my head, get well soon.
That's why you don't use GPS to help you get to your next job.
419 am. Possible fell asleep. It happens. Glad they ok
What exactly does it even mean to be "in critical condition with non life-threatening injuries?"
Don’t chase not worth it either the police or innocent bystanders get injured or killed.
Totally preventable. That will be back as a VRI car in no time.
Looks like they had their heads up their ass. No excuse for this one!
It would be nice if the article covered any pertinent details, like whether they were responding to a call. Even early on, that is a straightforward yes or no.
Good thing they clarified that it was two “male officers” though.
I can hear the Dukes of Hazzard horn
I think they were goofing around.
Get well soon officers, take as much time "OFF" as needed! Then over here this headline:
A boy shot dead as kids head home from school: 'I’m afraid to be next'
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-boys-shot-brighton-park-20171027-story.html
Oh rahmmy oh rahmmy where art thou? Ray Lopez again your area Brighton park the formally great place to live before it became filled with illegal welfare taking barrio gangs! Now Ray can I cal you "skycap?" Of course dear boy we can, not sit on the lap and lets talk, first load my bags on the plane, and lets hand you this pen and these resignation papers your a typical scatterbrained democrat now don't go away mad just go away=failure!

Ahh but then again when Jeff Sessions finally has that "John Wayne RIP" moment and sends the revenuer's into town this will be reality!
Hairgel + throttle = oops....?
Us hairgels you speak of now have 15-20 yrs on the job. I don't know how much gel our semi-balding heads need anymore.
Get well soon.

Carbon monoxide/dioxide induced?
Only if the blood draw at the hospital says so. Blood test taken for treatment will show amount of carbon monoxide in your system
Now that's going in the hole.
Well Golley Sgt. Carter....... how was I supposed to get across that thar stink hole?
This seriously could have been way worse!
Where I'm from, years ago, a huge construction hole would be in street. Hours later, the "kids" would removed barricades and cars would fall into said holes. The hole might be small or large, but this was "funny" to the "kids."
Of course, now plates cover everything, 15 signs warning of a "shoulder closed" and cones and barrels. Higher insurance rates, I am sure.
If the officers were not familiar with the area, or some goof moved a barricade, I guess I don't find it too funny. Life is way too precious.
Even your mayor had a few kind words. I was in shock.
NOT ILLINOIS. NOT LAW.
Get well brothers
That would never happen to the "price is righter", as he/she is always parked in a lot or up near the tracks. He/she only leaves the "spot" when called or going to lunch.
By the way, has anyone heard from the "price is righter" lately?
I wonder if he/she left for greener pastures.

There is a picture of that one floating around somewhere also.
Just put in that lawsuit!
Special Ed gonna hang you to dry to avoid the officer filing a civil suit on the City.
hes gonna check that camera
pull the computer out of squad
pull camera on street
interview neighbors
check and see if they had seat belts
It will be a quiet investigation until they file a lawsuit.
Remember a guy got millions for going through a construction site on his bike and busting himself up.

Ummm, that means you’re not a hair gel anymore. Hair gels are anyone with under 15 years on the job. Always have been, always will be.
"Parking Lot Damage".
Super Cop Hair gels in a rush to go nowhere These Gel warriors think this is a movie.
Non-life threatening??? Are you kidding me? The one guy has a broken femur, 2 broken wrists and a huge laceration to his arm which may result in him either losing part of the arm or not being able to use it again.

Ronald Sodini, Esquire. Retired. Now probably chasing ambulances.
Critical condition with non-life threatening injuries means that the injuries are not going to kill them. However, the injuries may require immediate surgery to decrease the likelihood of permanent disability.
