14,000

  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced Sunday that 14,020 people have applied to become Chicago Police officers.

The Chicago Police Department will give an exam in December, the second one this year and the fourth in six years. The city plans to add nearly 1,000 officers by the end of 2018.

The mayor said his proposed budget includes more than $27 million for increased police training to help departments reach hiring goals.

In August, Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson said the two-year hiring plan was moving on schedule, and that an April exam generated 8,700 qualified candidates.
Believe it or not, that's down from the April exam, which City Hall claimed was 14,200. Of course, no reporters stood outside the exam site that day and counted the people entering. Rumor Central says the final tally was under 10,000.

But if the April exam yielded 8,700 "qualified" candidates, why another exam? There's no way  the Department burned through those 8,700 already. Did any of those 8,700 sign up again, fearing they might be left behind? Is Vanecko Testing Services running this exam?

So many questions.

That magical number 1,000. Isn't that what he promised when he started? Is this the same 1,000 or an additional 1,000. Is this over and above those that retired or just to replace the retirees? Inquiring minds want to know.

Same candidate takes multiple exams.....either was not offered job or did not complete process first time, second time, third time.......less than 75 percent show up to take written test (they do not all pass)....from there: less than 60 percent will show up for power test (less than half wil pass)....it is a shell game—looky here thousands sign up in 2015,2016,2017—never mind so many are repeats..and as they drop the standards even the rejected will get hired.

CPD has the same problem as corporations:
people have high school diplomas, but can't
really read, do math, have critical problem
solving skills. Passing the physical is another
problem: obestity, bad labs, traces of THC and
other drugs. Throw in tatts, piercings, evidence
of self-mutilation. You can't package garbage
into a uniform.

The reason they went through the April 2017 eligible list was do to the fact that it had way-way too many qualified Male and Female whites. That a fucking no-no with Rahm.

If your white the chances are slim you will make the cut. Just like when Michelle' cousin Tracy Lander fucked the coppers kids, and military and showing they had mental issues after the shrink testing. That firm that does it has the Police contract going on 30 years.

That firm hires psychologists that only got licensed after their 10 try. Just like Little Richie with the bar exam. These 3 rd. rated psychologists would never been hired at any hospital or any major mental disorder center cause their graduated and got their PhD from Universities such as Chicago State University among other schools like in the foreign country Granada.

The city has contracts with nothing but the best. Richie Simon and McCarthy are another first class security company. Simon went from mopping the floors firm to Airport security.

There will be quite a few ghost pay rollers when McCarthy starts doing the airport. McCarthy should of stuck to strong arming the high line restaurants and bars in the gold coast.

On a related matter, the dept is giving another FTO test on DEC 16. I believe this is the 3rd in 2 years?
Did you see the new large posters hanging around the districts, with all those "bosses" claiming they were once FTO's? I wouldn't brag too much, boss. Back then, most FTO's were appointed, which is to say it was given to the guy who couldn't get a partner, or the guy who knew the boss and wanted more money (but was rarely given a PPO to train).

Still, there is a big push to increase FTO's. Any former FTO's care to chime in to let the newer blue shirts know what to expect (because there are several I've heard from considering it, simply because their FTO sucked, and they want to do better. I appreciate that, but they have no idea how the dept fucks over the FTO's).

What difference is it going to make? Won't hold my breath waiting for 1,000 new recruits to hit the street, but it could be 10,000 or more, and it won't make any difference if no one is prosecuted and the few that are, get sentences that are a joke.

The Police are short handed, but when the criminals are back on the street before the Police Officer is done writing his report, the criminals win.
The Police are NOT the problem, its politicians, judges, prosecutors and in Cook, Co. the pizza party sheriff.

The 1,000 number is constantly tossed about by the Media and Rahm's Baghdad Bob Googleini spokesperson. Yet that figure is Hollow, unless it is balanced against the attrition number as it exists TODAY. Balanced against those figures, the 1,000 number first mentioned, may actually mean two thousand plus need to be hired! Personally, I believe the 1,000 figure was a Canard from the very beginning! The population of the City and the entire state is shrinking; so how can you justify a larger police department? Add to all this, the difficulty in hiring. Why is it so difficult to hire young Black people for a job at $72,000 a year after completion of probation? It appears that the polygraph is the issue, and the manner in which it is administered, may ultimately end up costing the City millions of dollars. What are the base standards? For example: How much "Weed" could you have smoked, and how close to the test? Simply stating from the start what is expected and accepted of applicants would save a lot of them time and the City money. And is the standard used 4 yrs. ago, the same standard used for today? If the selection is being done arbitrarily, then once again, we the taxpayers, are in for another bill due to the incompetence of the "Shitty". And I have a feeling that at some point, a Hungry Attorney is going to realize, that something is terribly wrong in the selection process, to produce this level of failure by Black applicants. All other goals are being met, including Latinos, Women, Asians and Whites. So why is Chicago still struggling to make their Black Quotas for police recruits? Stay Safe; Rahm has your back! Baby "G"

"Your name, along with all those who also passed the examination, has been placed on the eligibility list and you will be referred in lottery order. Your randomly assigned lottery number for the 2017 Police Officer Examination is xxxx out of 7,437 candidates."

You are correct. The "replacements" hired to cover retirements, resignations, promotions, discharges and deaths might get to the 1,000 number, maybe, but the 1,000 "additional" hires are a product of 9.5's spin that he managed to get the media to swallow hook, line and sinker and regurgitate over and over and over again. 9.5 played a game of semantics. His "additional" hires are actually one and the same as the "replacement" hires. With 1,000 hires, he is not beefing up the CPD, he is merely maintaining the number he made the department when he downsized it.

No way 1000 retire in a year. That's just stupid it's not a secret how many retire. Pension board post it every year. Been hearing for years if 55 comes in 3000 will leave if COLA goes to 1966 another 3,000 all foolishness. A few years back that had trouble getting the required 150 minimum. Speaking of Pull ups and 1985:

I took the fire test in 1985 when you had to do a Pull up for at least 60 seconds or you FAILED.

TODAY I just dealt with a cocky F/1 Chicago Fire battalion chief who was 5 foot 3 inches and easily 100 pounds overweight.

We are officially a laughing stock.
