What's Up in 002?
The Quarterly Supervisor Bids came out this past weekend and 002 posted seven sergeant openings.
There are only twelve Sergeant bids per District, so for there to be seven openings at one go in a quarter is kind of odd. From past experience, when bid sergeants start leaving in droves, there's a major problem with the Commander, Captain or Lieutenants.
Anyone want to clue the rest of us in so Officers don't make the mistake of bidding to 002?
UPDATE: We are told there is video of the 002 District Commander riding a camel. Yes, an actual camel at some circus touting the recent "Be the Change" push for the entrance exam. Someone find this and post a link in the comment section.

The Tact Lt in 002 has "dos & don'ts" of Tact it's the funniest handjob shit Iv ever seen! Oh not to mention the note in front of E.S door some sort of disclaimer before you knock on his door someone from 002 please post these ridiculous notes from that tact office that this guy has put up in 002 it's fucking hilarious coming from someone who apparently thinks he was the police some of these guys forget that we know what & how they were when they were a blue shirt that place is a fucking circus!

I can answer this in three words: Crystal King Smith. After nearly two and a half decades on the job I can say she is easily the worst Commander I’ve ever seen. And it’s not just this bid cycle, it’s every bid cycle, 002 can’t keep supervisors. If the command staff truly believed what they say about patrol being the backbone of the department and that moral was a priority they would have dumped her by now. There is no way they haven’t noticed this trend since she took over, she’s a cancer that they refuse to treat. Look back to when Fred Waller was the commander, in short order all vacancies of all ranks filled up and stayed filled, you couldn’t get into the place without a phone call. I can’t tell you how happy I am that I’m no longer assigned to the 002 district.

For starts five Sergeants were promoted to Lieutenant and two Sergeants were successful bidders to other locations. One went to 019 and the other to Area South - D-unit. District can use a shake up with new Leadership at the top.

But since her posted ban on parking in the fire lane, I've noticed a marked uptick in parking in the fire lane. All Duece marked cars.
Well it is mostly because they might be tired of driving the entire early cars on midnights to the beach and foot patrol on that awful bang bus. The smell of crap is also something to consider when coming here since the commander lets the hobos sleep in the lobby.
003 has new commanders and a bitchy one at that. I personally know of a handful of ppl who are trying to get out. Just when you think it can’t possibly get worse, they stoop to a new low.
When they make you a commander and you have no idea how to be the police this is what happens. She treats her Lts/Sgts/POs like crap.
Look at the LTs in 002. She drove them all out also. The only one with any time is the former tact Lt who was recently dumped. I'm sure he will find a place to go soon.
Every day is a circus in 002. What do you expect when you promote the clowns to the ringleaders (Commander/Captain/Lieutenants) ?? I will do as much police work as they are willing to do or have done in their careers = 0

THAT was the most embarassing thing I've seen since I've been on this job!!
I'm a Sgt. in 002. The problems are too numerous to list. Sad to say to biggest problem is the PO's. 002 is loaded with an army of do nothings. Sergeants around the city are well aware how the POs are and won't bid in. The 1st watch takes an hour to code a disturbance 5B. That should take 5 minutes. No matter what watch your on a paper job takes over an hour even if it has a 4 sentence narrative. The bad officers have poisoned the good officers. Sergeants on the watch have a minimum of a 3 page log every night. The Commander has crushed the morale of the POs. Thats made things a thousand times worse. Alderfool Dowell and King are actually running the district. The Tact Lt is going to drive all the experienced officers out ETC, ETC, ETC!!!! A change in command is over due

I came on over 31 years ago, and I'd have to say, not one boss back then would make themselves and the CPD look like a complete asshole!
Commander Terrance Williams was worse. The only way they got rid of him was through promotion and guess what, that crazy dysfunctionalism has followed him to his current position, Assistant Deputy Superintendent. The coppers and bosses alike cringe when there is an incident and a Street Deputy has to come out and it's him. Arrogance and stupidity lumped into one. Let's not forget the Domestic that he had in 002 with a subordinate and his wife, not to mention that all of his female front office staff asked to leave and once again, it was swept under the rug and he was promoted. Crystal is bad, but not as bad as the incompetent womanizer before her.

King Smith has half the beat cars on static posts causing consistent RAPS due to this 3-4 cars sitting in tiny boxes unable to answer jobs. Therefore the Sgt’s are running around answering the radio more than they did as blue shirts. I would flee too.
The current command staff of 002nd district has been in place since September of 2016 and since then the Commander and XO were only able to bring over a recently promoted meritorious caps sergeant. In all their experience they were unable to find or bring in anyone to work tactical team or fill supervisor openings. pathetic leadership
Time to replace Commander Crystal King Smith. Please bring the Commander from 6th district Bill Bradley over. Fred Waller right hand Man for the Job. She needs people skill, management skill. To many clicks in that district. How does she even show appreciation to the officers that work for her?

well first off you have crystal king-smiff as the commander who has never done a lick of police work before in her life. She has zero clue about how to motivate police officers. She has no clue how a police station needs to run to keep morale up. She has no idea how to just let people go out and do what the police do. She needs to let the Sgts do their thing and the Sgts need to let the blue shirts do their thing. But that's not what happens. The commander needs to let everyone know that she.is.the.boss!!! She is in charge and its her way and that's it. Everyone else is an idiot because she is da boss. Then She has the Lt. who invites Lammonn Reccord.. you know, the kid who attempted to disarm a police officer and the same kid who goes on a blow horn calling for dead cops etc.. I'm confident in saying that the desk crew in 002 is worse that 005 and 003 which are both crews who are notorious in the city. 002 desk crew will just kill your morale having to deal with them. More haters who do nothing but shop online and whenever you come up to get an arrest approved or drop off something or have a question she/they need to finish shopping first... then the attitude, yawns, braids getting whipped around, some sort of excuse of why officers need to come back later and not bother them etc etc etc. MORALE IN 002 IS IN THE TOILET! It literally is the worst district to work in this entire department. Yes, 002 has surpassed 003 as the worst place to work. eddie or whoever, please put someone in as boss in 002 that will shake things up, clear house and restore a fire back in this district. Hanna is a self centered snake. She left the JISC to work in 015 to kiss Eddie's hunchos ass Dwayne Betts to get promoted. Another real winner there just like her. Just a connected box of rocks. Remember she was Retired and dumped Deputy Superintendent Michael Shields Administrative Sergeant. A house mouse who couldn't lead anyone, let alone run a District. She was promoted on the last test and was with the connected few from that test. Look at who she was promoted with. She was also put in to be a merit Sergeant when she was in 004. When Shields was on top, she crapped on everyone she could. Beware 003. You thought Doss was bad. When Deputy Superintendent Michael Shields was President of NOBLE, look at who his cronies were. Then look at this Department and recent promotions.

my god I just saw the camel video. WTF has this department become. And I remember back in 2008 or 2009 we all thought the most ridiculous was a commander giving away free whoppers at burger king. This nit wit rides out on a camel with her hello hair sticking out from the sides of her hat looking like cookie the clown jabbering to the crowd incoherently. How the hell do these people become exempts? Absolutely embarrassing. But I guess if you've got to put her in charge of something, might as well be 002 or 003 anyways. The places are gods punishment for police officers anyways... good luck 002. seeing that video makes me happier everyday about where I work that's for sure.

I don't think it's a woman thing or a race thing, I think that Eddie and Fred are promoting people who will not rock the boat and challenge these stupid decisions and policies. They are figure heads who promote figure heads with no brains basically, so they will do what they do without a challenge. Comm. King Smith is not smart at all and has no personality just like Hanna. I'll never refer to her as a Commander. She will never be respected as such. Fred was one of the nicest bosses to work here in 002, but he had no balls, he made no real decisions and he made friends with his subordinates instead of creating any leadership tactics. Eddie has done the same. He doesn't have a clue and he doesn't see how the Mayor basically used him to do his bidding, smile and take the heat. With his health as bad as it is, it's sad that he has not thrown in the towel. It's Fred's turn. And if they both ever leave, look at their legacy, Commander Bill Bradley and Deputy Chief Dwayne Betts. I'm laughing to. Dumb, dumb and dummer.

Correct again. Although, 002 smelled like feet and ass when I got there in '87, and smelled the same when I retired in 2013.
