I thought they were talking about 017. Same shortage of manpower as referenced in this post. But hey, why should people who pay huge property taxes expect a cop any where near their neighborhood? Bids open, 2 openings? Who is that stupid to think that will cover it when you're down over 120 cops from 12 years ago to have 2 bid openings?

Manpower is bad in 016. Demographics worse. Coppers are going to be hurt in 016 as the area is slowly ghettoized.

Yes 016 is huge and horribly undermanned. Rhamsickle and the aldertheives know that 016 is somewhat of a Republican stronghold, except those who voted for Assrena, I mean Arena. Off duty Coppers can only do so much, nobody wants to get jammed and sued for off duty policing of their high taxed hood. So F the residents of 016...right?
and there are idiots who keep saying we are lying cause computer says we have 12,xxx..Please, all u have to do is get manpower stats from the 90 s to see almost all district had 330 p.o. s per 25 district and 5 area s. Not to mention the number of units that don t exist anymore ie: gangs north/south, school unit,SOS, mass transit with almost 500. You add this all up and we re down at least 3000. Where is that money Mayor.Theory here is u keep #s down, that many don t pay into the ponzi pension plan and u can cry poor to change the pensions. Don t say it can t happen. Remember, all judges were made by Daly and Madigan. ! even said a dress in the basement means u live there.

The students had left be then. When asked what took so long, the neighbor was tokld the call came out 5 minutes before that. Backlog? Dispatch sitting on calls for north side of district?
Downtown expects folks in civilized districts to act civilized. Perhaps those officers that dwell there could now earn that duty availability money? Maybe that's what downtown thinks...
And yet, lots of Northside coppers are being assigned to the South and West sides to make sure the ghetto is well-manned. Not to mention all the VRIs sitting at every dark corner and all the technology, Shotspotter etc to curb crime. It sure aint working.
I used to run up to 016 on occasion and look at their sheets. Hot damn but they are skinny for such a big district and it aint so slow anymore.
It figures the districts with the taxpayers get fucked when they need a cop.
But we are grduating over 100 per month as stated in the Budget hearings. I want to know, Where the hell are they?????
Bad here in 012, we've had 8 sometimes 9 99 units on 3rd watch. Doubt any new manpower will be coming our way, do more with less. Oh, let's not forget to put up at least 4 foot posts. Unreal. Great manpower allocation "boss".

Get over it. Your conspiracy about 3000 short is crazy. CLEAR list seniority by name and unit. FOP knows how many as the pay in or are fair share. Pension board knows exactly how many sworn officers of ALL ranks pay into the pension plan. You can't hide 9% of their pay if they list 12,000 there better be 9% of each of their salaries coming into the pension fund. They have independent auditors and file annual reports. All of these sources state there is a little over 12,000 sworn. They are all wrong and you are right. Give me a break
Depart just stated 417 officers left last year and so far 517 this year. I'm betting you still believe there are mass retirements happening and wrote last year they were standing around the halls at persoell waiting to retire plus, no police don't die 1 1/2 years after they retire.
Good Luck getting a FOIA filled by this department. It's a scam, they never send anything that will make the dept look bad or fraudulent. They will stall and basically ignore your request . When will the Feds look at this?

SCC, you forgot to point out the 5 cars were patrolling a district bigger than most, if not all, municipalities in Illinois. That should not be ignored. It's funny how our tax paying dollars in police manpower funding sends plenty of officers to certain troubled districts less than the size of a 016th District beat! Meanwhile, tax paying residents of 016 are left with poor police service.

It's not like 016 has ever been properly policed in decades, even when manpower issues were better than they are today.
What I would like to see is how many officers assigned to 016 are on the medical, and for how long. That would say a lot.

Nice try, but its not up to the Commander to open up bids to the District. He/she can plead their case to BOP, and ultimately its up to the Chief of Patrol to open those bids.

That's been going on for years and happens citywide. I remember once calling out loud reports. Ended up being 19p but then 10 minutes later squad calls it out. At first I thought it was a part 2 of the previous shooting but a Sgt asked when that call came in and she responded call was 10min old. Yeah thanks for the speedy dispatch
