- Chicago police seized three handguns after shots were fired in a Near North hotel room early Sunday.
Police were called to a hotel in the first block of East Grand Avenue on the Near North Side around 3:30 a.m., police said.
A hotel security guard brought the officers to the hotel room where shots rang out. Officers found a group of about 10 to 12 people and a bullet lodged in a wall of the guest room.
Everyone in the room was detained, police said.
No one was injured.
"No one" being tourists from India who are going to have a great story to tell their friends and travel agent.
We're pretty sure the party room was Double Occupancy, so we hope someone were paying the extra rate. No word if the room was paid for with a stolen credit card yet.
But on the bright side, no one wandered off into a freezer.

The Deuce has a hotel and club apparently that can be booked for free. The area is now being called Club 51. We can save a boatload on Retirement/Christmas party tickets if we book this place in 2018.

Regardless if someone fired a gun into a wall or wanders into a freezer - wouldn’t you just hate being a guest in one of these hotels when some jackasses decide they need to have a “party” in the room next to you. Nope. And regarding stolen credit cards and hotels - I travel a lot for work and I cannot even remember a time when I didn’t have to show ID to check in.

This is what visitors to rahm's Chicago should expect when they check into a hotel in this city. The thugs and gang bangers in Chicago love to throw parties in the nice hotels. They use stolen / fraudulent credit cards to check-in and the hotels are just happy to have the rooms booked. A hotel stay in Chicago is as dangerous as traveling through the crime ridden ‘hoods of the city.

You must be new to the game. This is how its done:
1. Get some stolen numbers from a legit card
2. Get a throw away prepay debit card with laser printed numbers on front and no chip
3. Erase laser printed information on front of card
4. Erase the data on the magnetic strip using a high powered magnet
5. Get a credit card embosser and printer online
6. Print the stolen numbers with YOUR REAL name on the clean throw away debit card.
7. Present the card at your desired retail establishment/hotel using your own ID that matches your newly manufactured card
8. When card fails on swipe, manual entry is used (your name does not appear as it would with a magnetic swipe).
Seems complicated right? Well this is how these fools are committing these identity theft purchases all over. They are smart but stupid at the same time.
I do not understand how you can use a stolen credit card to obtain a hotel room. You need to show ID that matches the credit card and it has to be run for verification of the charges.

This is the third time I've noticed news stories giving an address, but not a name, for a hotel occurrence. Is this the norm now?
I work downtown, these hotels know when these individuals come and go and they let them in because they are so afraid of looking racist. The security is useless at these expensive hotels, clueless. Never do they question anybody. They want the police to clean up the mess they create by allowing this.
