These Jokers

  • City ethics officials are looking into whether longtime Ald. Ed Burke, 14th, violated ethics rules when he sidelined an effort to increase the property taxes paid by the owners of two buildings his law firm represents, according to the alderman whose effort he blocked.

Ald. Ricardo Munoz, 22nd, said the Chicago Board of Ethics told him it would take up the issue as soon as next month.
This is hilarious that Munoz is the face of this effort, given that he (A) used to hold guns for the latin kings, (B) has actually physically attacked a voter, and (C) covered for his parents illegal ID business on 26th Street for years before it mysteriously burned to the ground.

And then this crooked asshole:
  • Cook County Assessor Joseph Berrios filed a lawsuit Friday that challenges a county ordinance limiting campaign donations, saying it unconstitutionally restricts the free-speech rights of contributors.

“I plan to make sure that every resident in Cook County is afforded the opportunity to exercise their First Amendment right when it comes to contributing to their candidate of choice, whoever that may be,” Berrios said in a statement.

Berrios also maintains that the Illinois Constitution gives governing authority over election issues to the state and that Cook County does not have the power to set its own limits.

The lawsuit against the Cook County Board of Commissioners and its Board of Ethics opens a new front in a battle over the contributions Berrios accepts, particularly from property tax appeals attorneys who seek to lower real estate assessments through his office.
You mean like Madigan? And Burke? And Cullerton? And how many relatives has Joe hired this year for the Assessor's office?

Amazing how much of this corruption is centered around Property Taxes, the assessment of same and collection of.

The conundrum:

The desire for one's real property to be valued highly + the desire for one's property tax appraisal to be low, thus lowering property tax bill = fuck me.....

When one laments a decrease in the market value of one's real property and then fails to appreciate the reduction in their property tax bill, one misses an opportunity to savor the moment.

Unless one or both of the following are true, a reduction in market value is a reduction in property tax bill, and is, thus, desirable:

1. Property owner intends to sell property now or soon.

2. Property owner intends to borrow on equity now or soon.

Thus, it can be seen that, if one owns property and intends to remain owning property, a lower market value, resulting in a lower property tax bill, is desirable, only less so if the need for increasing debt on property is of greater importance than that lower tax bill.

If the property owner intends to not remain here, well, not gonna be my neighbor, so, fuck 'em.

I cant complain about Berrios. If you have a real estate attorney who appeals taxes and is connected with Berrios you pretty much get the biggest reduction. Ive actually received a check because my prior tax year bill was to high.

When a Democrat wants less restrictions on campaign donations, it's got to be because it's getting harder to hide the illegal donations they're already receiving!
When you hear a democrat talking, just assume he/ she is lying.

All of a sudden Burke is found to be corrupt?
Boozer Munoz (Section8’Arena ally and sore loser too) that didn’t get the Annual Burke Blessing, now he’s miffed.
So much desolate 22nd Ward land already scooped up awaiting for an investor/developers?
Did that deal sour?
Amazon HQ2 dead for that shooting gallery anyway.
Poo-poo for not joining the Berrios Caucus.

Thieving politicians going unchecked and they’re all bent on Police Reform.

The state constitution is clear that this is the case. I wonder what CC was thinking when they passed a law that violated the state constitution so flagrantly.

Ummm, DUH.

If it is a First Amendment Free Speech issue, then NO GOVERNMENT has jurisdiction over it, because it is ummmmmmmmmm a Enumerated Right and Congress, the bi cameral legislature in government of republican form, can make NO LAW, whch would ummmm mean the ILGA as well, you know, that bicameral legislature, or "congress".

Gotta love it when people MAKE arguments they don't even understand.

The complaint is correct, the supposed remedy is not. It IS a free speech issue, it is also a pursuit of happiness issue, a private property issue and by golly a private sector contracting issue, which is most stolen freedom that there is kind of issue too.

No, government shall have no authority to "limit" someone's "speech", expression or political support - not even in terms of cash. All government is empowered to do is mandate candidates to admit openly how much they have been given - in amounts. People can judge for themselves whether to vote for them based on amounts alone.

Fifteen 25 dollar donations alongside one 15 million dollar donation is, well, self explanatory. If this occurs, AND people know it AND want to vote for it, then government must stand down and witness it happen. The same is true if government approves of it and people refuse to vote for it. This just isn't government's terrain or territory. Period.

The old Iszzy Rizzi on south Pulaski real estate taxes are somewhere at $13000.00 a year. The building next to it pays two installments of $850.00 twice a year. The 13 ward alderman claims his hand are tied to help. Owner is planning to get into helping Vet's with finding jobs. Because of the real estate taxes this is on hold............ Oh, fuck you Madigan, 9 1/2 and all you liberal assholes.

Isn't property tax one of Madagan's scams too? His firm represents paying customers who want their property tax assessment reduced, but he has political influence over the people on the appeals board (to much corruption in this town to keep-up on the details of all of it and stay productive).

I have no idea who you could be talking about. Used several over the last 30 years to file an appeal and the one I currently use charges no fee, but takes half of the savings of the reduction the first year. That’s how most work although one wanted a $50 upfront fee so I dumped him. Must be plenty of competition because the one I currently use has reduced it to 30% of first years savings

Nobody would even know Berrios' name if the schools didnt spend so much f'ing money on absolutely nothing. CPS has lost about 40% of their students from 10 years ago...and the budget has doubled. In Detroit, the budget tripled while during the same period they lost 50% of their students. Berrios has an incidental role in this mess and yes, hiring the right attorney makes a world of difference but isnt that the case with everything?.

You think the Democrats, alone are corrupt? Mike Madigan owns the Illinois Republican Party. Republican State Representative Jim Durkin (D-82, Western Springs) who is the Republican Minority Leader, receives PAC money from Burke and Madigan.

Durkin has a primary challenge from Burr Ridge Mayor Mickey Straub but the Illinois Republican Party is spending a MILLION DOLLARS to smear Straub. They hired a political strategist known as "Mike Z" to defeat Straub with outright lies.

Unless Jeanne Ives, Straub, and other reform minded candidates win their primaries, the Illinois Republican Party will continue to be ruled by cowardly scum.

Ethics investigation? On Burke? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... give me a break. Investigations require investigators, offices, supplies, equipment, lab work, experts, lawyers, etc. all of that stuff costs money and Burke is the head of the finance committee - so guess what ain't gettin' funded this month?

I predict that ole slippery snake is gonna slide right out of this "investigation".

Can we PLEASE bring in the Feds to handle this? Put all these turds in prison forever?
