- (via Sneed): Paul Vallas continues to set the stage for a run against a formidable Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Vallas, who was appointed by Gov. Bruce Rauner to help restart a financially beleaguered Chicago State University, tells Sneed he plans to step down from that job soon — a clear reminder of what he has done politically in the past: not hold a public job while running for public office.
“My job is done,” said Vallas. “Although my contract ran until July 1, I now plan to leave March 31,” he said while also repeating an earlier report by Crain’s Chicago Business columnist Greg Hinz he was “seriously considering” running for mayor.
Trust me: The decision by Vallas to leave early is a huge indication he hopes to run for mayor.

Vallas lost to Blagojevich by a few thousand votes in the primary election before Blago's first term. Remember the gimmicky Blago commercials. If Ballas would have won that primary, Illinois would be in a much better place today. A few thousand votes statewide is miniscule, but was enough for Blago to eff things up.
Me and my family plan on voting for anyone except 9.5.

That is a true statement. I do believe his son is a suburban police officer. Some close to Mr. Valles have been very hush-hush about a run, but one slipped up, my guess is it will happen. He does realize that he needs to reconnect with police and start a long repair and rebuild process.

A former assistant to Leftist Senator Patty Murray and failed candidate for Seattle Councilman, Maurice Classen will be taking over Jim Roussels office and position as a second chief of staff with control over policy. Classen was most recently employed by Lori Lightfood to head the Police Accountability Task Force where he signed a sweeping indictment of systemic racism in the enforcement of law against acts of violence and use of weapons in African American communities. Classen is seen by City Hall as the right person to guide the department priorities in the election season.

Paul Vallas is a well known, accomplished national reformer, unlike the carpetbagging, condescending, elitist phony Rahm Emanuel.
Gmac is my primary vote, should he run as Rep or Dem. but I don’t think Chicago is ready for a Tough Cookie.
Gmac will not do well against Vallas and for that matter, any evil racist GOP candidate in a General won’t do well, not in Chicago.
Rahm has no political gifts and nowhere to place Vallas.
Only hope (and change) is a wealthy spot in the obama theme park chairmanship or LA mayor Garcetti steps up and offers him a warm weather retreat as schools superintendent. Maybe DuBlazio is creating a spot.

The establishment democratic party did not want Vallas as Governor, they were afraid of him as being too honest. Plenty of money went downstate to buy the election for Blago. I was told Madigan did not want Vallas in Springfield.

Our current President is attempting to restore the freedom to live free of the impositions of the dictatorship minded scum.
The obvious way to assist in this is to avoid imposing the dictatorship laws upon those which these laws are designed and intended to intimidate.

Very possible.
McCarthy cannot win. Too connected to the LaQuan McDonald video. Running would only make him more of a scapegoat for Rahm's decision to hide the video. I cannot even conceive of what McCarthy would say if/when the press would ask him why he went along with that decision. I hope McCarthy doesn't run, the decision to do so would only expose more of his flaws, and Rahm has already put enough distance between him and the tape to convince at least a significant portion of Chicago voters that he is serious about police reform.
If McCarthy stays in, it'll be fun to watch him twist in the wind when it comes to answering (or not answering) questions about why he's BFF with a mob-connected ex-cop.
