Lazy Lazy Lazy
Not that long time readers need to be reminded, but here's a perfect example of the laziness of today's Chicago media:
- On Sunday night, the Chicago Police Department announced that it will be promoting 100 new detectives by the end of the week as part of a new plan to grow the size of the police force in the city.
The promotions, part of a citywide plan to add 1000 police officers to the department, will bring the total number of CPD detectives to 1200, according to officials.
“These added detectives will ultimately help in solving crimes and will help the citizens of Chicago,” Sgt. Al Stinites said in a press availability Sunday.
"a press availability"? Is that a fancy name for a press release? In any event, this is a heaping pile of bullshit, being part of a plan to "add 1000 police officers." Where pray tell, do the Detectives get promoted from?
- HINT: They aren't new hires off the street.
In fact, this will directly impact the dwindling number of beat cops outlined a week or so ago, but Heaven forbid that a reporter check other writings. And here's another amusing error. If you know where to look, you can run the title codes for Detective (9165). Guess how many CPD has employed at this very moment?
- 983
And if you run the numbers for Areas North, Central and South, guess how many detectives you have actually assigned to a street unit?
- 776
Last time we checked, adding 100 to either of those numbers doesn't make them equal 1,200. In fact, checking the Sergeant list from a few days ago, those numbers are a bit high since the promoted Detectives maintain their title code until graduation.
But Rahm is going to run on his previouslie promise that he'd hire 1,000, even if he has to claim the 100 Detectives (and 50 Sergeants), drawn from existing officers, are part of that hiring "wave."
But Rahm is going to run on his previous

Rahm will probably include any retired police officers that have a city job in his totals too.
Find me more names!!!
Rahm says... whoops. Didn’t think anyone would check your work rahm??? Let me guess... you were counting sgts also assigned to the detective division right??? Many sgts in the D unit were never detectives and are not handling any cases, they only supervise and approve reports. We have 983 detectives but just input 775 actually handeling cases. The shell game continues.
Can someone tell me why the head of the building engineers gets a merit pick? And what dealings do they have with officers that make them able to formulate an opinion that an officer deserves to be given a merit spot.
Congrats to the new Lieutenants, Jeff Siwek from 25 Rocks!!!!!!
Anyone email Mr. Neveau, and open a dialogue?
More with the merit bs. How does someone with a lengthy disciplinary history of off duty related stuff get made merit dic like HM. Also was stripped and put in no pay status yet somehow got to keep his job cuz his old man was a Commander. Scc Im so sick of the hardworking copper getting fucked over for any type of promotions but people like this are made no matter how big of a fuck up they are. This job and city are so hopeless. And cmon I don’t wanna hear how you should study harder if you wanna make it so bad. Fact of the matter is that many pos get one shot at a promotion and have to do considerably better in order to bypass the merit and cheaters. Unfair system and the Fop will
Never do anything about this
Mayor Rahm is a crafty ole fox.
The sheeple don't care as long as the cubbies are playing and the beer is cold.
Bread and circus.
No, it's not a fancy name for a press release. It was a weird moment during which the good sergeant, a department spokesperson, was made available to announce the upcoming promotions.Poor guy does not look comfortable at the mike. Just sayin'
And really, how can we forget that way back in 2011, Rahm ran on the promise of adding 1,000 officers to the streets. Do not forget this. It is seven years after the fact, and he is just now getting around to doing it, even though he never kept up with attrition. Add to the fact that, in 2014, he sat on the McDonald tape in order to be re-elected which, in effect, made the community not trust the police.
Rahm, Adam and Gugliemi: we all know you are reading this so, right now, just stop what you are doing. Count to ten and say a Hail Mary that lighting doesn't strike you in your sh-thole. You are all liars and when the day comes, you will meet your maker ten-fold. Until then, best to sharpen up your interview skills because, after the election next year, you're all going to be looking for jobs. And to you, Adam and Guggggggggenheimer: hope that you don't own property in the city because you will have to sell it for your next job waxing balls.
For everyone bitching about fire driving around why not? They are working and getting paid the same or more than police, the ambo crews work hard now with so few fires putting these men and women to better use to serve the public would be welcomed! Think about the "bodies on the ground" they car roll up on and give quick care! I work downtown and soon with this being the start they will be on 12 hour shifts 1 on 1 off,in order to save the city money and not sleeping and getting paid which actually makes sense! What prodded this? just look at the big idiot that works at the firehouse and grabbed the female paramedic with behavior like this maybe working instead of relaxing will help them to be more relaxed!
Lol. You think you're the first person to think of this? 12 hour CFD shifts don't save the city money, at all. Figure it out yourself. You need FOUR different shifts no matter how you configure the schedule. Now, the city only needs three with the current schedule. Is it your intention to "save" the city money by hiring another 1,000 firefighters.... or are you jealous of their job? It's like with our job, if there's a good spot, or otherwise a position where others are envious, you really see the bitterness.
It's stupidity, not laziness. It takes a special kind of moron to think detectives are somehow magically added to the number of officers on the street... like the department went out and found some detectives to hire. To the regular media, who obviously read this blog, whenever there are promotions, those numbers negatively affect the numbers of the position below the promoted rank. 50 more sergeants means 50 fewer police officers. 100 detectives means 100 fewer police officers. That's 150 officers that need to be replaced to get the number to where it was before the promotions. Add in people retiring, getting fired, straight up quitting, dying, etc. and that number gets even higher. The department is dangerously short on personnel at every level that matters, while being disgustingly overstaffed at the highest levels, with chiefs, deputy chiefs, commanders, executive officers, etc. of a bunch of created units and other nonsense. Money and personnel being wasted where they're not needed, while the number of police on the street continues to dwindle, and violent crime continues to rise and spread to all areas of the city. Maybe you could do the actual job of reporting the truth instead of regurgitating whatever nonsense the mayor and the department feed you.
I wonder why with all the hiring can't increase the numbers. No one is talking about why there is a record number of people retiring. Bingo; this job is tankless and sucks!
The y call it fake news because they don't ask the tough questions. They have given the Chicago politicians a free pass for as long as I could remember. That's why this place is so screwed up.
The real laziness is that the media notifies Rahm of the subject of Vallas press conference before it happened so Rahm could put the class out to take the subject away from vallas
Great job our shootings bloodshed murder world news:

Rahm values again worldwide!
You don't really own your own home. You rent it from the city and state.
Your rent is going up, Up, UP.

One Percent of Value (1%) for the state pension crisis.
How much will property taxes have to go up for the Chicago Police, Fire, and Teachers Pension Plans?
Another 1%? 2%? More?
This job sucks. I use to think the salary was enough to reason to stay. Just left for a much smaller department a pay cut but No residency, not in IL and finally bought a house Something I'm happy something I wasnt for the last 6 years with CPD
Check with Finance Dept they still carry/count retired personnel as "Active" on their payroll for the prince of thrones...
For any retired CPD if you still recieve your W2 at your last place of assignment then your considered still active by Finance and Personnel Dept, someone should audit these departments immediately...
Holy shit 200+ hiding spots for Dets. and I missed all of them?
Signed,
not too bright
The 100 Detectives just promoted will not come close to the retirements that are planned....tons of people turning 55 and jumping ship.....
It's time for Baby G for Mayor.
fuzzy math
welcome to rahms sanctuary city..........
Eugene Roy was already on tv saying 25 detectives are set to retire, and 10 more detectives are being promoted to sergeant. So that’s 35 more short.
All this spinning is making me dizzy.
Well maybe they can make 10-12 foot post answer jobs.. maybe they can scrap them and make them beat cars..maybe you can get rid of 3 po’s on the desk, with 2 civilian employees, 1 watch Secretary, 1 front station security, 1 back station security, 1 hallway station security, 1 caps Sgt with his 6-10 ghost po’s. It’s not that we are short but we have too many house mouses getting the same benefits as beat officers. They should cut the house mouse benefits in half ..
When was the last time Stinites worked in Patrol... “the backbone of the Dept.”?
Well over 20 years ago.
I counted 22 merit picks on the detective list of 100. What happened to 20% merit?
Well the media is stupid and doesn’t know they are being lied to
More lazy nonsense the dishonest media or is it googleme again:
Man carjacked overnight in Heart of Chicago on West Side
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-met-carjacking-heart-of-chicago-20180515-story.html
Description is crickets again!
Hey Ryan “a carjacking here a carjacking there carjackings everywhere” come on kid are we going to “catch em?”
I think this "merit" crap is just that - crap! I saw this happen over my 40+ years working in the trades. We had a 26yo night superintendent on a billion dollar job that told me he deserved it cause he worked hard to get it. It didn't occur to him that his father, a high ranking union official, had any bearing on it. 2 years out of apprenticeship and the tried to convince me he earned it. I saw drunks show up on the job that were told to sleep it off in the office trailer and others get sent back to the hall for being 5 minutes late. I was never one of the chosen ones however I did manage to have a good reputation on the jobsite and hold my head up high with what I've accomplished in my career. In my line of work we say "those that can't, lead those that can". My advice, and I know you didn't ask for it, keep your head down, keep your mouth shut, keep a low profile, and enjoy your retirement when you hang up your spurs.
Support the NRA and The THIN BLUE LINE
The liberal universities these "reporters" teach a course called democratic math. That course instructs the students that anything a democratic politician says regarding any kind of numbers is automatically correct. Never check the numbers just repeated the numbers as correct. Democratic math. Fact checking only applies to any Republican statement. Democrats are always truthful and Republicans always lie. There now you have a first class liberal education, all you need to know.
>>>>> 'The promotions, part of a citywide plan to add 1000 police officers to the department,...' <<<<<
Ha-ha-ha! Gee, now which 1,000 added officers is this latest bunch? Are they Rahm's initial 1,000 'added officers' from his first year in office? The 1,000 he was allegedly hiring in his 2nd year? The 1,000 during his 3rd year. Etc, etc, ad infinitum.
Hell with all the "1,000 Police Officers" Tiny Dancer's 'hired' during his two failed terms, by the end of 2018 the CPD should have have a force of around 18-20,000 -- with you guys and gals tripping over each other in the districts. Enough sworn officers that there could literally be 'A cop on every corner'. But that 'ain't' exactly the case, now is it.
No it 'ain't', not even f--kin' close!
The media isn't lazy. They are in bed with people and corporations who they are supposed to report on. This is why trust in media is so low.
so....if Rahm and the Democrats were bulls&&t, the Dems would be the orchestra, and Rahm would be the conductor...and....in the words of the great Democratic former Secretary of State....."what difference does it is make?"

This could be true, because when has the department ever made a class of sergeants or detectives just before the beginning of summer? But I also think this just gives the department an 150 mampower MOBILE STRIKE FORCE to quell any uprising throughout the city. Like the report to the training order states, don’t forget to bring your helmet and baton in case of deployment. I have a feeling your graduation date might be pushed back til the end of summer.
Let’s see you have 983 detectives, that number includes detectives that were former called youth officers. In 2000 you had about 986 detectives plus about 225 youth officers. So right there the simpleton media is helping Rahm pull the wool over peoples eyes.
Did anyone see Fran Spielman's hit piece on Lori Lightfoot.
What a lapdog for Rahm.
The only ones who read that tripe are the white libtards who are brainwashed to believe anything they hear from leftist sources without question.
We have 983 detectives but just input 775 actually handling cases.
Even less, when you subtract all the Detectives who answer phones, make felony files, work inside, work in CMO and the assorted other hiding spots. Probably 200 people hiding between all 3 Areas on 3 watches.
Bonnie Amado gets a merit pick! Are you kidding me!!

No, and they don’t have to. They do as they please and answer to nobody
The fact that they cancel our days off every memorial day weekend, fourth of July, and restrict time due every weekend when there's a parade or fest going on should be a red flag on the manpower issue. There have never been enough PATROL officers on the streets for almost the past decade now. I don't care what the official numbers are, when I came on we had wagons up for every sector, rapids, and practically everyone was 10-4 on 3rd and 1st watch. Now, people are 99 and we barely have one wagon for the whole district. When you have more people working in the DC's office than you do in roll call, that's a problem.
"The real laziness is that the media notifies Rahm of the subject of Vallas press conference before it happened so Rahm could put the class out to take the subject away from Vallas"
This is absolutely right. And then Rahm's army of staffers paid by the City takes to social media to tout this achievement while slamming Vallas. The people who used to work for Rahm and landed at cushy gigs in the private sector then do the same. The papers, TV and radio then go on and on about Rahm doing this or that, and Vallas is shelved.
What are we, the taxpayers, paying for Rahm to get his state-sponsored propaganda out to the masses? With the 50 staffers he has working in his office alone, the number is upwards of $15 million.
Emmanuel is A LIAR, he only cares about ILLEGAL ALIENS and not citizens
ANYBODY bug EMMANUEL
there is no money for more cops. it is that simple. it is likely the city will have to reduce the number of employees if it is actually forced to fund its pension plans. I could see a 20-30% cut in total employees over the next decade or so.
personally I expect madigan to come up with a pension plan that allows the city to continue to underfund them indefinitely, since forcing the city to actually fund the plans will break the city.
the chicago federal reserve bank has floated the idea of a 1% tax on the market value of all real estate across the whole state to fund state pensions. The extra revenue would take about 40 years to get to the point where the funds were fully funded if existing levels of funding continues along with the extra revenue.
http://midwest.chicagofedblogs.org/?p=3096
that would only deal with state pension plans though. the city would need roughly the same level of additional revenue to fully fund its plans.
how do you feel about adding 2% of your property value to your tax burden every year for the next 40 years. and this is not 2% on your assessment. it is 2% on market value. for a $200,000 house your tax burden would increase by $4000 a year. For 40 years. That is the magnitude of the problem.
maybe they won't pay for it this way. they still need to suck $4000 a year out of you some way in increased taxes, fees, and charges to pay for government employee pensions. do you really think the few taxpayers left will accept this?

I don't know how you guys do it, came on the job in 1971 retired in 2000 I could have never been a policeman under the conditions you guys have to work under my hat's off to you if I've ever seen a case for Blu flu what's going on now definitely warrants it

How about the Director of Information Services [who is only been here for 6 months] nominating someone from a different unit.
How is this even possible ? They have NEVER worked together !!!!!
Actually nominating an officer from the unit where his wife works R and D. Now that is really a slap in the face to all officers, especially the ones in his unit.
But hey no surprise here it's the best and brightest !!!!! and it's all Legit !!!!

Cool story bra! Go play in traffic
No wonder the dicks can't even solve 20% of the homicides. Way to much busy work going on.
Lazy quick wake up Jeff sessions even the liberal dishonest media is calling out the democrats:
Report: Chicago most corrupt city in U.S.
http://abc7chicago.com/politics/report-chicago-most-corrupt-city-in-us/3478310/
It’s ridiculous the number of detectives answering telephones and assigned to CMO desk jobs. Each time they promote new detectives, more detectives run on the inside. They see the new addition as an opportunity to run inside. There’s at least 60 detectives in each Area assigned to desk job and then they have filli-ins and assistans. Don’t forget the ones that are assigned to the Headquarters. I haven’t been gone that long. I’m sure nothing has changed.
People aren't supposed to be smart enough to figure these things out. If everyone believed what democrats said, Hillary would be our illustrious leader, but too many people know a criminal when they see/hear one.
J.J.
Where are the other 207 hiding ?
