001 Property Sale

  • As the city of Chicago fosters big new developments around the South Loop and Near South Side, it's also hoping to piggyback on them to boost its own coffers.

That's the idea behind the 2.4-acre parking lot at 1701 S. Clark St., which the city recently put on the market. The lot is used by the Chicago Police Department's 1st District.
As part of the sale, the city is requiring some sort of parking structure to replace the nearly 300 spots being surrendered:
  • One challenge facing any prospective buyer is that any new development on the site must include 271 replacement parking spaces for CPD, whose 1st District station neighbors the lot to the east, according to a call for offers on the property. That replacement parking could be built on the lot immediately south of the CPD station but would require 24-hour secured and dedicated ingress and egress for CPD and would be subject to final approval from the Police Department.
Alderasshole Arena is requiring a dedicated, sheltered, running-hot-and-cold carwash spot for at least 10 aldercreatures be included in any new parking garage built in Chicago.

Yes, and the tenants of the new luxury high rise that will be built there will just love the dregs of society that are released from central lockup every hour of every day roaming around to spoil their vision of utopia.

Land empty all along state street (3000-7000) south NO project ever rebuilt.

OLD 13 dist worth million sit under used.

Old CPS HQ on pershing sits empty.

SOUNDs like RAHM stealing again like old man daley. The money is in the construction contract. BRIBES float around by grants to non for profits then filtered as donation to any cause RAHM thinks up.

Oh and still no contract for police. The SGT union deathly silent not even trying to fight for anything. Im guessing they will wait for FOP and ask for an extra 10minutes a day OT plus a me TOO clause.

Question: Is Tom Snitzer, the original developer of those townhomes, still part of that property in some way? He was married to a Cook County judge back then, but she didn't use his last name.

And during construction where are you going to park?

If the garage is requiring 24 hour security, just put Alderman Joe Moreno out front with his badge. He can flash it at anyone who looks suspicious and then they'll go away.

If it takes 4 months to build where would anybody park. 4 blocks farther south are acres of empty fields, who owns those and what are they being saved for?

This area was historically the fiefdom of1st Ward Aldermen "Hinky Dink" Kenna and "Bathhouse John Coughlin. It contained buildings with "Stalls" for prostitutes to perform oral sex to farmers coming into the city from Archer Avenue. A perfect location for Aldermen to conduct business, a "quickie" car wash and Rahm's reelection headquarters.

that whole lot is screwed up, and so is the building. Built on old junk yard which im sure was not cleaned properly from all its contaminates.Lot is full of sinking asphalt. City has already sold off all its surrounding lots and now a school is being built. Little parking left and its only going to get worse. They may have to move mass transit and special out of there to get more spots. The city don t give to shits about the officers or the dept.

Wasn’t that property around the 001 district used as a junkyard in the past? Did the EPA sign off on its new use?

Drove by the old 010 district building the other day. The new front door has what looks like etched glass that says some kind of clinic in it.
The old garage doors are gone and it appears that some extensive repairs are being done inside. Spare no expense when the Police are gone

Or do what they did a time or two. Get those added benefits like the 3/4 hr and quarterly checks and other benefits, then accept a reduction in the healthcare benefits and sign their contract making it harder for FOP to fight to keep out healthcare premiums down and benefits up. Once one union signs for higher premiums and lower benefits, the others are doomed and have to follow suit

The fire sale of prime properties continues in Shitcago for the wealthy and well connected politicians, investors, and their minions. If there was any agency in Illannoy investigating corruption, collusion, misappropriation of funds, and out and out thievery they would be building more prisons rather than parking garages. I am betting if they dissolved the shitty council of alderthieves down to say 20 and they lowered the salaries and perks of all the corrupt politicians and require referendums by the general public on tax increases and tax spending, this would be paradise! I know, I know, never gonna happen, but I can daydream!
I know this....The shit going on cannot continue....Somethings gotta give! Al Capone only dreamt of corrupt government like we have today at every level!!!!

Valuable property and crooked developers will move any police facility for a mayor or alderthiefs price, like 012,013,019, PD-FD Acads. 001 and 018 are next.
Maybe they have a multi district police building planned, again on some inconvenient, out of the way, shithole industrial wasteland.

Logic could have avoided all the 001 parking issues over the years with a three tier garage atop of the building or 4 story adjacent shelter.
Maybe the tainted, slit laden soil wasn’t up to snuff like HQ.
If it comes down to who gets priority, votes, cash or police, you know who’s going to be walking.
Rahm doesn’t care about police and would like for them to pay to park and/or walk four blocks away.

The Wrath of The Greedy Slim Short Shady.
Prediction:
Don’t be surprised when Rahm cuts a deal (like ShortShanks) to condem the antiquated, crumbling, low bid, 20 yr old leaning beast 001.
Donor money from at least 3 sham front contractors propose to put up a new 001 somewhere in a neighboring wasteland plot, outside the actual district boundary.
This is fresh and forward thinking;
Multi-districting is borderless, without walls or lines, inclusive, adds culture, diversity, builds trust and provides jobs.
Doubling and tripling Police Districts will become the next great Democrat expenditure.
Eloin Muskie will build tunnel shuttles with little hobbie cars with little blue lights to transport the blue shirt social worker drone bees.

So far Rahm’s new Academy is getting a lot of neg heat, nothing moving just yet.
But if re-elected...a new 21st Century 001/018 will be coming.

Rain for the next two days.
Someone in 001 is emptying a bucket at this very moment.

People who bought the townhouses in Chinatown, around Wentworth and 18th, had to sign waivers that they wouldn't sue for any harm that might arise from all the poisonous chemicals in the soil.

Yes, it was a junk yard. I think the name was Gomez or Garcia.

And, they did the same to the old 5th District Station. If I remember correctly, it is now a Health Clinic for Women.

Nope, donated, became a domestic violence shelter, but has empty space for commercial at street level. VP Joe Biden came in for ground breaking ceremony, but delayed 2 yrs due to EPA issues.

"Key component of Emanuel affordable housing plan falls short"
Actually a good article in today's Chicago Fibune! Among other things, explains why our taxes keep going up even though there is all that construction downtown and on the north side!
We're actually paying for it all! Private developers getting public subsidies.
