- After more than 36 years in custody, an accused cop killer who alleges notorious ex-Chicago police Cmdr. Jon Burge tortured him into confessing was ordered freed Friday while awaiting his third trial on the charges.
Jackie Wilson, 57, was granted a recognizance bond by Cook County Circuit Judge William Hooks, who last week tossed out Wilson’s murder conviction after finding that Burge and detectives under his command had physically coerced his confession to the 1982 slaying of two Chicago officers.
The judge said special prosecutors “utterly failed” in their arguments to keep Wilson in prison, adding that they appeared to want him to view the case “through the lens of a court sitting in 1982 or 1988 without considering the revelations that have come to light over the last three decades.”
Wilson is likely to walk out of Cook County Jail as soon as later Friday.
Pardon our wishing for a steamroller to be traveling down California and suffer a catastrophic brake failure at precisely the moment Wilson walks out of custody. Hopefully it doesn't scratch the paint job.

SCC - The Courts shouldn't "have anyone's backs" - the courts should be impartial, fair, and ready to mete out justice equally to ANYONE and not play any favorites.
Apply that to the FBI and DOJ as well which as of today, look like they bent over backwards to look the other way on Hillary and her crimes.

Blame everything on Jon Burge, wait until some witnesses die (the Detectives who wrote the paper), get a witness to recant his/her testimony, and get a sympathetic judge. Flint Taylor has been going after Burge regarding this case ever since the Wilson Brothers were arrested for these murders. With the judge throwing out the conviction, Taylor is one step away in achieving his ultimate goal. The ironic part of this whole incident is that Taylor is doing what he is accusing Burge of doing. He accuses Burge of framing innocent people for crimes they didn't commit. What he is doing is he is freeing guilty people of crimes they did commit. There are many reasons why this has occurred. We lost it both as a city, a state, and a nation. My question is how did Judge Hooks get this case assigned to him? It appears that this judge has extreme basis against Law Enforcement. He has a long history of anti-police rulings. Could it be that there was some underhanded maneuvering? What is so sad is that he is not up for retention until 2022 so there can't be a effort to vote him out of office until then.

Uhh Burge was convicted, and spent 4 1/2 years in prison and on house arrest. That was for committing perjury in court. Only reason he did not get charged with torture is because OF the statute of limitations. Burge was no saint.

I worked with Jon Burge when he was assigned to A/3 (the real A/3 at 39th & California). nobody was ever "Tortured". it was a different way of policing back then. I remember this story from when I was a kid, my thoughts again go out to the families and friends of Officers Fahey and O’Brien.
It’s curious that with the lottery assignment of cases to judges in cook county that the case just happened to go to that Police hating, racist asshole, that I have never heard a good thing about. He blamed the state’s attorneys office and I think there’s a whole lot of blame to go around. Great system that has evolved right under your clueless noses.
We need to take a page out of the leftists’ playbook. Go protest this piece of crap judge at his house. Nothing illegal about that. He gave an ibond to a guy charged with double murder. Protest him at home and at 26th street.
This is not about a particular judge. Any judge who heard this case was going to rule the same way. It is just not a difficult case to decide. It is almost entirely about Burge. If Burge is not trustworthy than the case against this guy is non-existent. History has not shown Burge to be especially trustworthy, especially given he went to jail for perjury. You do not get more untrustworthy than going to jail for perjury, especially given how hard it is to lie enough to actually get convicted.
How many people know that black box torture machine trotted around for show-and-tell was actually built by the attorneys as a prop. One was never actually recovered.

recently retired detective..i was served papers to appear in court for 15 year old sex case where the offender has his way with an 18 month old baby. use your mind and you will get the injuries to include fractures tears and bleeding. the animal gave a full confession to the police and state.
