The main difference between the handgun and a smartphone is that the former fires two rounds for self-defense while the latter only allows you to dial 911 after you have been attacked and need first responders.

Now the police can order you to put that cell phone down or rush being shot. Resisting arrest or disobeying police orders should be an enforced felony. That would decreased incidents of people being shot.
Nice, I want one. You ever notice how the bad guys can carry what ever they want and we can’t. They just tie our hands. With the shooting that occur in Chicago you would think we could have full auto weapons. The Department needs to give us more options.

Not to worry, your thugs and folks can't use a conventional pistol (which has sights) with any accuracy. That cell phone/pistol looks like it is good for only two rounds and at range of maybe three feet max. Probably do better with a good knife.

There is an PPO F/3 from second watch who recently had roll call weapons inspection. Lt. find out there is no ammo in her magazine, nor one in the chamber. She admitted she didn’t carry her ammo on her because she didn’t want to have to shoot anyone. She’s almost off status and has been riding around with officers for months. Instead of sending her back to the academy to fire her, the practically give her a promotion and throw her in 004 Caps office. She’s a 39 y/o and has no clout.
This department is unreal.

The bigger problem is it an incident in a second is about the amount of time we have to know your target to know if it’s a gun and if it is a gone and you’re not sure you end up in the morgue or for the rest your life paralyzed injured and made that decision very tough decision to make in that split-second no I don’t have the answer but I don’t agree with your answer either.

While that may be decent advice it’s not always practical.
Things can happen very fast in hairy situations and you’ve got to think and react extremely quickly.

There is a folding .22 cal version called "life card". The local gunshps have them, FOID card and DL required. Intended for concealed carry use.

I’m sorry....what? Sometimes you can’t *know*. You make your best, reasonable, split second decision and act accordingly. Unfortunately after that moment, you’ll be scrutinized and potentially hung out to dry.

While I agree with you, most coppers are barely proficient with their duty weapons as it is. The last thing we need is more options when we have co workers struggling to pass a yearly qualification that Helen keller could probably pass after an hour's worth out instruction.

WTF Happens quite a bit. They know where they are going and what watch they will be on before they leave the academy. Then after 10 or so years will be able to bid on days and never gave to work a different watch.
