- Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson announced Wednesday that officers had recovered 35 illegal guns in the first 24 hours of the extended Fourth of July holiday weekend.
The seizures greatly outpaced the department’s normal rate of about one gun recovery per hour.
“Thirty-five guns in one night, that’s ridiculous,” Johnson said at a press briefing on the lakefront downtown Wednesday afternoon. “That just shows you the amount of illegal guns out here on the streets of Chicago, which is why we have police officer-involved shootings, innocent citizens being shot. It just highlights why we just have to, as a society, pass common sense gun legislation.”
Oh, we thought this was about illegal aliens. Sorry.
But once again, Special Ed shows exactly how "special" he is by spouting the same old tired arguments without knowing the origins of a single one of those weapons. Perhaps they were stolen in a burglary? Maybe sold by a gun-runner that Kim Foxxx refuses to jail for even 30 days. Or quite possibly, taken from an unsecured freight yard running through Englewood or points in between.
We have hundreds, if not thousands, of gun laws on the books, but the powers-that-be (yes Ed, we're looking at you) refuse to enforce them and jail actual criminals (yes Prickwrinkle, Dart, Evans - we're looking at you) according to the laws already on the books. Spare us your fake outrage.

"Common sense" gun legislation is a vague and subjective descriptor. Please speak unequivocally and specifically what YOU consider as constituting "common sense" gun legislation in what already is the strictest city, county and state in the nation on firearms..

well, it is a sanctuary city.
Pass a hundred new laws but if you don't enforce them they will be as useless as the ones on the books now.. The Police are the ones who make the arrests for all of your useless laws.. Useless because those that decide the charges and who will be held accountable for there actions don't hold do there job. Because in Chicago everything is politics, even justice or the lack thereof..
Be prepared. THEY are well armed.
Nothing short of a military style pacification campaign will work to remove illegal guns and their criminal element in any reasonable time frame. New laws? Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Hee Hee Ho Ho!

A felon does not apply for a FOID when he has a gun because he has to self incriminate to apply for one. An honest citizen becomes a felon if he doesn't apply for one if he/she has a gun.
A felon has no consequence if arrested with a gun because he/she is not charged, especially in cook county because the law is not enforced on felons. A citizen who otherwise is honest you can lose your house, your savings to lawyers when arrested with a gun when being made an example.
Does the law keep honest people honest? I submit to you that the FOID law only creates a situation that an honest person has an artificial situation created by the state that he/she can be charged and prosecuted. If the law wasn't there, the honest person with a gun would still be honest. The criminal would still be a felon with a gun.
How does the law protect an honest person? It doesn't. It only puts him/her at risk, and if there was an innocent paperwork screw up, its even worse because there was no intent.
How does the law keep guns away from the felons? It doesn't. In cook county the law isn't used and cannot be used. It only works on formerly honest people without a criminal record (without a foid you are no longer an honest citizen in the eyes of the law) .
It doesn't pay to be an honest when you are a felon because you have nothing to lose.
The FOID law would only work if illegal use of guns were prosecuted aggressively without discrimination.
Cook county is a FOID-less sanctuary county for felons with guns.

How many were IBONDED in less than 6 hours. (this would be due to paper car trying to figure out narrative).

There ought to be a law against that. That's sure to fix that problem.
They will not risk losing the uuw statute auuw statute in prosecuting a possession of other than a stolen firearm. Sure, they will threaten to prosecute it in order to secure another plea, but defense attorneys outside public defenders crowds are figuring out they have the upper hand in such um negotiations.
As a result, the ONLY point they have left to try to champion is the forfeiture of the firearm, while hiding from view the lack of prosecution and lack of felony conviction.
Then the troublesome point rears its head...thousands of GUNS taken, dozens of court convictions...even common core math cant hide that imbalance problem forever.
The truth is we actually DO need common sense gun laws. The code existing now makes no sense whatsoever!

Illinois has numerous laws prohibiting the use of fireworks too. Nonetheless, the 4th of July looked and sounded like the Battle of Verdun was being recreated in Chicago.

I just watched a facebook video which was filmed in Chicago by some exhuberant youths. I bet I saw 35 guns in the video which lasted about five minutes.

The only means to end the problems so fervantly lamented by the fervant lamenters is the true disarming of their ilk; as in, removing their arms to the shoulder joint. Like pulling the wings off of flies.
In this manner, their ilk can be truly incapable, dependent and beholding to the elite who desire this of their minions.
