- The superintendent was asked whether officers will use tactics similar to those used on Memorial Day weekend, when large groups of rowdy young people near Chicago and State were corralled into a CTA station and put on a southbound train rather than being arrested.
“We get criticized when we make arrests, we get criticized when we don't make arrests. the fact of the matter is that as a police superintendent, and, more importantly, as a black man who grew up in this city, we don’t' want to needlessly arrest young folks. we just don’t want to do that,” Supt. Johnson said.
The superintendent stressed that everyone should feel welcome to come downtown, and if they act appropriately, they won't have any problems.
Really Special Ed? We've asked for this before - if you could just get a list of offenses together that certain people (or folks) aren't expected to follow and that officers are ordered to refrain from enforcing, we'd be most grateful. Obviously, the various XO's, Commanders and Deputies have this list - they're the ones ordering the "corraling" of yutes and sending them to the Red Line (for free, too) without so much as an ISR being completed. We'd just like to know so when the ACLU starts asking questions, we make sure they know who ordered what.

At this time I would like to thank the officers who worked the American Independence Day parades along 26th Street and also in Pilsen along 18th Street. Everything went so well it wasn't even mentioned in the press. There have been lots of problems in the past like Cinco de Mayo and the Mexican Independence Parades. But the 4th of July was cordinated so well and problem free that it was like it almost wasn't celebrated in some communities. And all those nation loving democrats really know how to run parades with all those "vote for me" floats in those undocumented communities taking full advantage of this patriotic parade celebrating America's birthday.

Miranda warnings, as silly as they are, are more feasible due to the fact that they are not done on the fly in fluid situation. Both methods are prophylactic.

Officer Darwin is ALWAYS on duty, but must manage resources accordingly. If you only have a couple of gallons of Clorox, they work much more effectively when used in the shallow end of the gene pool.

Cupich, who has been visiting family, has been out of town.
The peace protest, the brainchild of Catholic priest the Rev. Michael Pfleger — which threatens to shut down a portion of the Dan Ryan Expressway on Saturday — could be a test.

Cupich is a frequent visitor at St. Sabina Church and events.

“Cardinal Cupich has been a strong and powerful voice to address the issue of violence in our city, and for that I am very grateful.”
He also added: “When the state police put out a press release saying they’d arrest everybody, we started getting calls from lawyers across the city saying they’d do pro bono legal help for everybody,” Pfleger told Sneed.
Pfleger claims he and the lawyers were all meeting to discuss the legal issues at St. Sabina Thursday night.

Multiple OFFENDERs pushed/pulled officers with total impunity. 1 or 2 arrests made total. Backpack bomb went off ripping out a chunk of concrete slab. Car bombs are next. I remember when 9 year old Antonio Smith was murdered by gangbangers, there were no mass protests at all. No protests outside the homes of the scumbags that did the crime. Sorry. Special Ed is a sell out. Did you forget other officers that were stripped before Ed had all the facts of the case? Did you forget Special Ed going to the hospital to visit an offender and his mother before even inquiring about his injured officers?
Did you forget about Special Ed taking phone calls from activists and following their order(s) on how to handle the officers and stripping them (while the activist posted the stripping on social media) and the officer was yet to be informed?
Sorry, He doesn't stand behind his officers.
I wouldn't assign any police to the march. None, from either CPD or ISP. Let him walk where he wants. Let nature take it course and see what happens.

These are usually young po’s making the comments of 20 and 50. When they hit 50 things change and it’s not as easy as they think. Healthcare, other employment , kids, tuition ,etc. Historically when retiring was lowered from 59, then 55, then 50 all you heard was how many were going to retire. That never happened in decades The number of retirees remained in the 500-600 area and the retirement age hasn’t changed much. It’s all in the pensions annual reoort
