There is an PPO F/3 from second watch who recently had roll call weapons inspection. Lt. find out there is no ammo in her magazine, nor one in the cWTFhamber. She admitted she didn’t carry her ammo on her because she didn’t want to have to shoot anyone. She’s almost off status and has been riding around with officers for months. Instead of sending her back to the academy to fire her, the practically give her a promotion and throw her in [...] Caps office. She’s a 39 y/o and has no clout.
Honest to....look Snowflakes - if you don't want to do the job, then don't accept the job. You're cheating taxpayers out of the cost it takes to train you and you might be cheating whomever you happen to be working with if the shit hits the fan.

This is very common now, you'd be shocked at what they are hiring these days. It's not just CPD but law enforcement in general. Never in my decades long career have I seen so many 2 and 3 year officers dying to get admin jobs and assignments that require no police work, these jobs were normally filled by guys close to retirement. These types are what have brought this profession down over that 10-15 years. I remember in a meeting with young officers and when asked one why he took this job, he stated "It was the best job I could find at the time." I think that says it all.
Can't fire someone who's not a white male, that's against the rules. Although you can get hired if you have a felony, as long as it's not too serious.

I’ve encountered several newer officer that have no business being on this job but I’m sure the department knows how incompetent they are. This "problem" is not unique to CPD. Worked with 2 different investigators in ISP units who didn't carry their weapons on their person. Guess they thought wearing a sport coat would protect them!

I was in 024 a while back and they had one like that on 2nd watch. She couldn't work the streets because of arthritis in her hands. Couldn't grip her gun. So they let her work inside. Now, most people in that position would be happy with an inside spot but not her. Once inside, she then told the desk Sgt that she can't work the radio room because it was difficult for her to pull the radios out of their slots. So she just did clerical jobs. However, this did not stop her from putting in and GETTING special employment.
Couldn't work the streets in her district but was fit enough to work special.
Just one of the reasons I'm glad I bid out.
Ah, last time I looked even insiders had to carry their guns. So what happens when CAPS officers have to go to a meeting or event? She stays behind and answers the phone?
A number of years ago while qualifying a range guy that I knew told me they would sometime see some of the semi-automatic pistol people with no round in the chamber. I was a lieutenant so one day during weapon inspection I had everyone go to the weapon safety station and go to slide lock for the weapon inspection. In the roll calls, two officers had no round in the chamber.

If she was returned to the academy, Calloway would not take action against her. he refuses to fire recruits and will give her every opportunity to stay and hide her some where. It is embarrassing but the academy accepts everyone and everyone will pass the academy.

I had a matching pair of blue, Colt 38 police specials, and left and right holsters for them. Would sometimes wear them both on my Sam Browne belt. I could only do it once per each new W.C at Wed. gun inspection, but it would confuse the fuck out of them as to how to inspect both. Oh, and yes, they had bullets in them.

There are so many recruits that took this job for the money and benefits and have no intention of going on the street. And the bosses will oblige them. You hear them at the academy already planning and looking for their inside spots. Sad part is most if not all will get them and as a prior poster said it the bosses fault for letting it happen

Needless to say, nothing was ever done and the crazy PO gets to work easy assignments and an early duck more often than most. The LT was recently promoted and currently waiting for a capt spot to open up. With fools like these running the department, nothing shocks me anymore.

There is NO formal interview process of any kind. Having held variety of jobs to include, flipping burgers at BK, Target, and a burb PO, an interview was always part of the process. The interview was actually a large portion of a combined overall score(burb pd). As for CPD, I remember only having to complete the polygraph, background, and medical. Although it might have changed since then.

Why do you have to have clout at 39 to be a ppo? You can be hired and turn 40 in the academy. I was 38 when I went thru with no clout. Stupid statement.

She should be fired. I can’t imagine being one of the coppers that had to ride with her now knowing she had an empty gun the whole time. It’s embrassing to this department. She should be a civilian working on the desk. She’s not the police and never will be

1) this is hard to believe. If actually true it is horrible. CPD is screwed as if it weren't already
2) I have known with some lazy do nothing coppers over the years who had no desire to get more than a bus check and write a parker but one thing about them is that if needed they would have no hesitation shooting someone.
That recruit needs to be terminated. Saw the foul videos and going to give this fool a gun and a badge. WTF. Who ever did his background check needs to go.
A cop who open carries an unloaded firearm?! That is nuts! And _dangerous_ as hell. It would be safer to patrol with NO weapon than with an UNLOADED weapon. If they keep this officer, they must be really desperate for personnel.
