- The No. 29 star of Cmdr. Paul Bauer, which he received when he attained the rank of captain, was placed by his wife, Erin, and teenage daughter, Grace, in a glass cabinet alongside those of some 500 other Chicago police officers who died while serving the city.
Bauer was the highest-ranking Chicago cop to be killed in the line of duty in decades when he was fatally shot outside the Thompson Center in the Loop on the day before Valentine’s Day. The gold star Bauer was given when he became commander of the Near North patrol district was presented to his family.
RIP Sir.

His death is what happens when you gotta a criminal SJW justice system at hand.
God speed Sir
Still Hard to Believe, God Bless.
Thanks you for your sacrifice
RIP CMDR you always had nice words to say to me when i saw you or light hearted joke. I remembered when SCC printed Bauer name i had to do a double look and refleckted back i just spoke to him 3 weeks ago.
18 DIST CERT.
Peace be with your family
I'd rather have an empty case and every one of the officers back.
Sad, very sad. Much too young to die and die by the hands of a parasite.
It was a Robbins police officer
Let’s rename Donavan park at 37rh and Lithuania to Donavan and Bauer park. A Chicago fireman and a Chicago policeman both killed in the line of duty. Both neighborhood guys.
Rest in Peace Paul
You will never be forgotten
And the piss bums, junkies, and the rest of them, are still there and growing. RIP and God bless your family.
RIP BROTHER your an example of a man who understands what being a boss/friend was last of the breed!
Rest In Peace Commander Bauer. Thank You for your years of service and dedication to the people of Chicago.
Now, isn't it about time that we bring back the Death Penalty for the Murder of a Police Officer -- no Life in Prison bullshit, Execution upon conviction, period. This war on police has to end so if the Death Penalty makes one mouth-breathing savage think twice before pointing a gun at police it'll be worth it. It'll save the shitheads from getting shot by police too, so there's that.
Enough is enough.
[Go Bears! (1st place NFC Central, who'd a thunk it? LOL)]
If the death penalty was back I’d personally want to throw the switch to send the demon back to hell that murdered him.
I’m still angry about this.
May he Rest In Peace .
Great guy , boss but a street cop at heart .
Remember to vote in November
The violent criminal that murdered Paul should have been behind bars for a few more years .
Vote out the democrats that say too many people if color are in jail .
Paul’s death was preventable caused by broken criminal justice system.
That parole was armed , yet democrats want your guns , they want you helpless.?
Chicago was one of the last cities to allow CCW , cook county taxes ammo ,guns for law abiding citizens , release people carrying guns on IBond , vote for law and order
Channel 7 describes two f/b armed robbery offenders as
Two women sprayed the senior citizen with pepper spray before robbing him .
It happened south loop , high rent district .
Will you be the next victim
And the beat goes on. Rest in Peace.
R.I.P. and everyone stay safe out there.
GOD bless the family.
Still missed.
Great guy. I'm sure his family appreciated it.
Eternal Rest grant unto him O Lord
And let Perpetual Light shine upon him
May his soul and all the souls
Of the Faithfully departed
Find Everlasting Life. Amen
another victim of "restorative justice"
May peace somehow, eventually, find its way into the minds and hearts of all who loved and respected him.
Now, THIS was the type of man who should have been chosen to lead the CPD at the helm.....
Amen.
Godspeed sir. May your sacrifice change the hearts of those who consider us the enemy.
The best commander I ever had the pleasure of working for. May God bless you and your family!
So when is that scum that murdered him going to be executed?
Why aren't the fake revunds shouting for this murderer to be tried and executed?
God bless you and your family. You’re a true hero
Real police. The boobs in the command staff should try to be like Bauer....he was the real deal.
RIP to a great classy guy.
Rename Donavan park to Donavan Bauer park. Honoring a fireman and a policeman both killed in the line of duty, both from the Bridgeport .
RIP a commander who was doing the job.... can’t say we any of those left. A few frauds who think they are leaders..... looking at you 900. RIP to a true hero. Thank you
Best of the best. worked with him at many a protest. always professional.
Rauner walked in shook hands with officers thanked them for their service and said God bless you. Fat head ed and rahm walk in ignore every officer there.
I think of his wife and daughter often
Cmdr. Paul is the perfect example of the real reason why we attend St. Jude, the CPD Candlelight Vigil, the 24 hour CPD Honor Guard Vigil, the Springfield and Washington DC Memorials to Honor Our Fallen. It sends a message to our Gold Star Family Members...
WE WILL NEVER LET THEM WALK ALONE
My prayers and deepest sympathy to the Bauer family. No officer’s family should have to endure what you’ve been through.
That being said what truly sickens me how quickly the City, CPD and media forget about this tradegedy. Yet the have no problem spending hours and hours of time on the JVD trial. The world is truly upside down. Please remember this every time you respond to a call and act accordingly.
Every year, when you complain about loosing sleep, face shitty weather or long lines for parking, make excuses about family/kids issues remember that his family is standing at attention, under that canopy feeling the honor and pride we all felt at one point on this job. They live their lost memories in all of us, every second of every day. Everytime they see a squad car, a beat cop or simply hear about us on tv. No matter what color, ethnicity, belief or creed, we all bleed blue. Remember that. Take care of each other during this mess. Be safe.
Died in the act of protecting ALL of the citizens of Chicago.
Hero.
A distinction earned with pride.
And one, very sadly, bestowed.
This place is better for your too brief presence, sir.
Never forget Commander Bauer! May the perpetual light shine upon you. RIP Warrior
Prayers to his family and strength. So tragic.
Never,ever forgotten.
Just like yesterday.. So much pain.
May you rest in peace Sir, and for the family stay strong and prayers are with you. You were a true hero. God Bless.
Always remember how expendable this city and this department thinks we are. They prove it day after day, month after month, year after year. Remember how easily they shell out millions in tax payer $$ to the families of dead ghetto thugs. Then remember how many years we sit in arbitration with no contract for years just to get 50$ more per paycheck. Remember how easily the city pays for bs ID cards and legal assistance for illegal residents. Then think about all the dilapidated stations and training facilities that are infested with mold, pests, broken plumbing, leaking roofs, with equipment that's outdated or broken. Remember that all of this expensive emergency planning and overtime are over the death of a bad seed that was cast away by another bad seed of a mother who walked off with millions in hush money for a kid she never even supported. How much money did the city award Cmdr. Bauer's family? How much overtime and riot control was there when the good commander was murdered? Where were the protests? Where was the outrage? All you heard was fucking crickets. How much are we really worth to these bastards? ZERO!
Thankful for his service in the 18th district. He is missed.
Rest in Peace. A hero....
Missed. RIP.
Rest in peace, sir.
It was so nice of Robin Robinson to play on her phone during the entire ceremony. Sorry if we were boring you.

What he said.....................
Just out of curiosity, why wasn't his Commander's star put in the case. When Riordan was murdered, his 1st D/S star was put in. Paul did hold the rank of "Commander."
