Media Continuies Smears
- CBS 2 Investigator Dave Savini repeatedly caught a Chicago police officer driving the wrong way down busy streets, obstructing traffic and making it potentially dangerous for motorists.
It might not be illegal, but drivers say it should be stopped. Savini exposes the officer’s driving and allegations about bogus parking tickets too.
One could assume that Savini always casts the police in a bad light. You'd be correct and do you remember why?
- CBS 2 investigative reporter Dave Savini pleaded guilty Tuesday to driving under the influence of alcohol.
Savini was arrested on Jan 4 by Naperville police after a minor car accident in a restaurant drive-thru.
Savini was cited for drunken driving, hit and run, battery and child endangerment.
Aren't there any crooked political deals Dave would better serve his viewers investigating?

Not sure how this qualifies as a media smear. Yeah,the news guys a tool,but the officer sure has given them plenty of ammo to use. All this to bring in $for the city that appreciates her and every other PO so much. I get bringing in activity to stay on days (assuming that's the case)but this is crazy.
Savigni is a moron. All he does is get off on stories where police can be shined in a negative light. He must be loving the fact that the world is enthralled with anti police stories. That being said, maybe driving down Ashland Ave. in the wrong direction isn’t the smartest thing to do. Gotta be smarter than that, especially when “reporters” like Savigni are always hiding in the bushes waiting to smear police.
I saw this segment, absolutely pathetic and desperately trying to slam the police for 10 mins straight about writing parkers while going the wrong way down the street. Still don’t understand why the media has such an enormous hard on for hating the police and wanting a lawless society where savages reign and run free.

Issuing parking tickets is one of the few things a 020 officer can do to show activity. Knowing CPD management, she probably will be an exempt within a few years. Prove your worth, Off. Moran. Transfer to a beat car in 011.
The PO is lucky that a lawyer didn't intentionally ram her head on,
demand a big $$$$$ settlement from city and punitive $$$ damages from her.
Thinking about it, Savini makes it sound like Patti is writing tickets only to the two people in his story, not to two parked vehicles. Savini is going past the sale; because, he says 'another 30 seconds another ticket,' not she's running plates to write just those two guys. She's not running plates! In other words she doesn't care who's car is illegally parked, she's just writing all the parking violator's she finds. In the suburbs they'd give her a commendation and a promotion, you know, like in Naperville.
Once a drunk always a drunk. Now he is also a drunk with a vendetta. I know a few news people and they just laugh when you mention this guys name, napolean complex to say the least.
Is he a honest reporter? Activist? Or just an asshole? I understand journalists and reporters are a small few into the day and age of fake news

Savini might be a jerk but Were we watching the same segment? Because I saw Bt 2093 driving like an idiot the wrong way during what seemed to be heavy traffic. Forcing other vehicles to avoid her. All so she could slam some parkers onto door handles before time expired. I have property in the neighborhood shown in that segment and it's funny that I so rarely see a marked unit. Unless they're out for street cleaning and other parking violations. Sad.

The other day I was stuck in gridlock traffic on the inbound Kennedy on my RDO taking my elderly mother to the doctor when I hear sirens approaching from the rear. I’m in the left most lane and I see cars attempting to move aside to let the unmarked suv by as it has the sirens and lights activated. Naturally as the police my ears perked up as the vehicle drove past I noticed regular Illinois plates and a trail suv. It was Rahm. My radio was on 105.9 I didn’t hear any emergency happening downtown. Illinois law and department policy involving activation or emergency equipment is for just that,an emergency. Not to avoid waiting your turn in traffic. Follow the four and a half finger midget and see him and His department drivers violate the law and department policy on a regular basis

It was part of the story and documentation was shown that one guy she wrote tickets to had 6 out of 7 dismissed. And roughly two thirds of her tickets have been dismissed overall (I don't remember the time frame the story had for this). Sounds like this "very nice people" doesn't care for the validity of her citations, she's just trying to get numbers. Oh, and she drives like a lunatic. Vehicles had to swerve to avoid her.

Not saying Dave Savini is right, but as police officers we do need to be more careful. We sometimes drive the wrong way, etc. For no good reason. That said, I have parked blocking the street, etc., sometimes going thew wrong way when it was clear, for an emergency call. I didn't see the segment. But let's try to be careful no need to give him ammunition to use against us.

I saw this segment and no offense but cmon. I'm a PO and worked midnights and drove the wrong way to give parkers when there is no cars driving. But what she did looked so bad. Cars literally swerved out the way to avoid her and shes doing this during heavy traffic. How about just get out of your car and write parkers on foot? We are our own worst enemy..
Why didn't he write about Byron Moronda, the weather guy ?? ? Don't know if this was why he left NBC Chicago to WPIX NYC (A WGN station).... Evening of Feb 28 2017 he is in Ottawa in the WMAQ weather car chasing the tornado. They say that a nursing home was struck and they arrive at that location. The streets are blocked by police... Byron tries to enter the area but is refused by the police...he then yells out (on the air) "Can we get in? we are the police..".....no luck, then again "I am a Oakland police officer can we get in...." All on the air....wording may be slightly different,,,long time to remember.... Was waiting for some big news story about this but nothing (of course, they protect their own.).......until it is announced he started at PIX on May 25, 2 months later..... (He was an Oakland PO for about six months, years ago (80's ?)but it is told he quit because he didn't like it,,,)
As police officers, we should know that everyone is watching us. Why give people something to complain about- especially when writing other people parking tickets- and especially for bullshit street sweeping tickets, which we all know does nothing to clean the streets and is all about revenue only. I could not get home one night after work due to someone doing the exact same thing because they were parked blocking a one way street, and driving the wrong way- just to hand out parkers. Driving the wrong way, not getting out of the car, etc. makes you look like a lazy hypocrite. Let's do our jobs professionally.
