To those wondering, 25 "merit" divided by 126 total equals 0.1984. Multiple that by 100 (to get a percentage) and you have 19.84%. The City is NOT ALLOWED to round "merit" percentages upward so this falls at the 20% agreed upon.

Lisa Buckhalter (merit) is going to be a detective? The medical abuser? The merit process sometimes is a real joke. not all the time but in cases like this they got it wrong. But I guess coming from Crystal its the perfect pick and makes absolute sense.

Kathy Mcclean from 009/fugitive is a great pick. Shes a good police officer and very low key and well liked. A hard worker. Glad to see, she will be a good detective. She has the perfect demeanor for it. Gonna be weird not to see the duo of "joe and Kathy" not together anymore. Hopefully one day joe can make it also. 100 percent worthy merit pick even though godsel is a complete goof..

Haha you have to love the Chicago police department what a joke. All she does is push around a commander in a wheel chair all day what a fucking joke Making D2pay. She has no time on I hope she gets sent to area central on midnights but you know that isn’t gonna happen. It would be nice to see her have to actually work a scene as a Detective.
The bigger mystery is who is gonna take the caretaker position catering to the forensic commander.

The merit Detectives should have their own list and who sponsored them.
Won’t matter. Most of the merit and enough others coming from special units won’t stay in the detective division long or work the street. In a short time the only thing they will work is their way back to the specialized unit but with the detective ranking. Or being detailed back might also work

Cry that the CPD needs ET’s. Make them and they become secretariesbut with ET pay now detective pay. I’m sure an area commander needs a second secretary, pull up another chair. Don’t think the clearance rate will be jumping, guess is won’t be one arrest coming

Are Merits required to submit writing samples before being nominated?
Do they teach Eng 099 or Writing 101 at the Academy anymore?
Reading some of the Case Reports makes one wonder, can’t imagine what the GPR & Sups will be like.
Brush up on Composition and say adios to the ten minute two-liner.
Maybe by now Det Training will delve into this instead of all the bs social justice speakers spewing their ideas.
(It has been said the HQ is retooling Dets into community SJW’s and less time on teaching Det protocol)

The whole formsic unit is screwed up just look at the female pfi who works inside making D3 pay always on the medical. Tell me when was the last time she processed a crime scene? Or the pfi who runs the whole unit in laser when was the last time he processed a crime scene?

There’s an updated list. Not sure if it’s even worth it to point out (since I’m not going to take the time to submit a copy) or if it even matters when only a few select have been added/changed. Either way congrats to the promotees from the list and hope you all enjoy picking up the slack from all these merit hacks.
I’m just glad for the lack of 4-5 year wonders on this class. Last class was just ridiculous at the number of ppos with seconds on the job making detective. They should really up the minimum time in grade to at least 10 years. Don’t care how much you think you know D-unit should really be based on experience solving crime and doing paperwork not running and gunning. But what do I know, have fun packing up those skinny jeans and baseball hats.

Wow. Gamez from 312. Surprised he was allowed to get the promotion back to the detective unit where he was caught stealing overtime.
word of advice for anyone wanting to work HGS. put your asserts in a trust or LLC now. Once you get named in any lawsuit it will be too late to protect your assets. As a HGS Detective it is an inevitability you will be sued at some point. Congrats to all and best of luck

Just ask retired Sgt. Mingey from Area 5. One of the most respected Sgt's on the CPD. Knowlegdeable and friendly. He is personally on the hook for $75k for Guevera's escapades. I am 100% certain the good Sgt. was not involved other than approving reports. It wasn't widely reported about the $75k, but it's true.
And as an aside, a trust would have to be an "irrevocable" trust that you have no control of. If you have any control of that money, it can be taken. So that means the money would more-or-less had to have been given away. A lose-lose situation. And an LLC ? I have no idea what you are talking about there.
