And if all the rumors are true, it's going to be a monumental failure:
- First, protesters took over the Dan Ryan Expressway. Then, another group briefly took over Lake Shore Drive on a march to Wrigley Field. Now, activists want to interrupt Labor Day traffic to and from O’Hare International Airport by bringing the Kennedy Expressway to a standstill.
Some of the players behind the Chicago protests have been different, but their goals are the same: bring attention to Chicago’s incessant gun violence. The Rev. Gregory Livingston, of New Hope Baptist Church in West Humboldt Park, is organizing the Kennedy protest and said it’s important to keep the momentum going — even when people might want to sit back and relax on a three-day holiday weekend.
ISP was making noises about arresting protestors who trespassed on the expressway. No idea what became of it - perhaps it was posturing to scare away a percentage of the rabble.

Going to be nothing. Shows how CPD always overreacts. 1000 at the Dan Ryan protests, less than 500 at the LSD protest and probably not that many on the Kennedy. Even when the organizers were asked today if they were going to close down the expressway in both directions, they said that was possible if the gas enough protesters. Gone are the days of them saying we will march with thousands, tens of thousands.
ISP will be the ones to handle any protest on the expressway.

This protest possibility has made the news here in Indianapolis this morning. They said ISP stated they would not tolerate this and are prepared to do whatever is nessesary to stop any disruption.

The Troopers have one hell of a real leader with Maj. Byrd. Met him over 20 years ago as he was chasing after stolen cars along I-290. Very few could outrun that man on foot. He's gone on to lead by example with every promotion he's earned. Integrity, Service and Pride isn't just a moto for him. He lives it every day out there.

ISP Byrd has never done real police work in his entire career. Unless you count traffic stops as REAL police work. Never did anything but traffic which is pretty much most all of ISP guys. Byrd was put in charge simply because of the color of his skin. He was the only Black Lt in the district and the only minority Lt. When he was the DC and all the shootings were happening they left him alone, ANY other guy would have been replaced. Nice guy but not ever the REAL police as you say. I did see him kicking it and keeping it REAL while marching with other NOBLE members at the Bud Killigan Parade. Now stop posting your BS fantasies about Byrd on here.

The protesters asked for volunteers to enter the highway 6 chumps volunteered and promptly got arrested. Way to go SIP I think a few more saps volunteered to go on the highway and got arrested as well. Meanwhile in the black community a black person was murdered. Be interesting to see how many black people were victims of crime perpetrated by other black people during the time of the "protest". Anyway thanks for the overtime me and the wife will be paying off our summer/retirement home very soon.

I am also wondering where was Fr. Faker and Rev Jackson? Where they warned to stay away that arrests would be made? If only the truth would come out.

I unfortunately was stuck at the airport today during the storms. The terminal trams were chaotic, no reps or security for guidance. The worlds busiest airport is a joke.
Major bryd,isp, working his ass off. I was in 011 from 92 to 97 and had him respond and help out on numerous jobs. He monitored zone 10. Would love to see him in the cpd.

I'm guessing that you don't live in Chicago or know much about the demographics. The surrounding area by the Dan Ryan is predominately Black and a great number of protestors turned out. Strength in numbers with a lot of backup in the adjacent area--the decision was made to let them march. Now the surrounding area by O'Hare is predominately White. Less than a hundred protestors showed up in an area that isn't down for the cause. It was far less risky to arrest the protestors because they outnumbered and in an area where the protest wasn't wanted.
That's it in a nutshell. Glad that it all ended peacefully on the NW side. The Reverend got his photo op being arrested for the cause and everyone went home in one piece. Definitely a waste of resources that could be put to better use.
I know the isp reads this blog. Big time kudos to you guys. Firm and professional just like its supposed to be.

Look, Listen, and Learn. I hope everyone saw what happens when you enforce the law. The rest of those mopes fell right in line. The protesters backed up and then started trying to figure out what to do. I will say there was a couple of protesters that got in some faces, yelling and pointing. They should have been locked up also. We are a nation of laws, nobody is above the law, nobody is below the law, and we are going to enforce the law if we are going to have law and order. Do you hear that Foxx, Evans, and Johnson. Citizens are getting fed up with you guys not doing your job. Great job by ISP that Integrity, Respect, and Pride. They earned it all around on this job!
