Da Coach

We stopped watching football a few years ago when the Bears sucked, McCaskey didn't care and the NFL shit the bed. That being said, we've always had a soft spot for Ditka:
  • Mike Ditka was hospitalized Wednesday in Florida because of a heart ailment, according to reports by the Chicago Sun-Times and WGN-9.

The iconic former Bears coach suffered a heart attack, WGN reported, citing anonymous sources. Ditka reportedly is recovering and expected to be released from the hospital in several days.

Ditka’s agent, Steve Mandell, did not immediately return a phone message Friday night. Jarrett Payton, WGN reporter and son of late Bears great Walter Payton, tweeted confirmation that Ditka is in the hospital and is “doing well.”

Ditka previously suffered a heart attack Nov 2, 1988, and famously returned to the Bears sideline 11 days later. He turned 79 on Oct. 19.
Best wishes for old times sake.

Despite the fame, he remains a regular guy. Wouldn’t be tolerated in today’s SJW NFL

He's fine. He's Iron Mike!

He just suffered a little fainting spell is all.

Just before he was to tee-off, he realized he bet against the Bears doing 8-8 or better this season!

Da Coach is ageless. If (not when) he passes, his wake and funeral will need to be at Soldier Field. No other venue will be large enough.

Couldn’t agree with your sentiments more about da Bears, NFL and Iron Mike. Get well Mike cuz you have more heart and soul for Chicago than any damn politician.

Iron mike ditka was the coach the last time the bears won it all in 85. Probably one of the greatest defensive units along with the mcmahon and payton took it all. A couple of mamoosas and a little backgammon should put the coach back into shape. Might have to lay off the cigars though, hope you feel better.

I still blame Ditka for Obama becoming President. If Ditka ran for Senate then Barack would have never been elected?

Confess to love/hate w/ Ditka - not 50/50 more like 90/10 - but IronMike's ego never lacked for nourishment. Still, "Get better #89", you tough old bastard.

PS re a previous, "No F'n Longer in my house" Copy that. When the NFL took a knee, I took a hike. (Actually long before, but on its grave that WAS the final shovel's worth.)

Mike Ditka is an original Tough Cookie.
It’s rumured that Seiser introduced Da Coach to his secret mass building popeye spinach crepe diet.
Both can still be found start working out with Izzy Mandelbaum down in Del Boca Vista.

Oh come on SCC, you are missing the best of times with the Bears/NFL. You're missing an elaborate skit after every td, intercept, even sack. I saw a couple of dudes do a dance skit after an incompletion that Fred Astaire would have been proud of. Oh btw they were down 38-3 at the time. All the little millennials are giddy with the show.

The Bears are good. McCaskeys are spending money. Colin Krapernick is out of football. I think you guys should reconsider. Just beware that alien spaceship is still on top of Soldier Field.

Love da coach, had a friend attend a football signing event and he "donated" a signed football to our American Legion, which is on display. It simply said "G-d Bless America"!!! w/his signature.

Love Ditka but stopped watching the game years ago. Overpaid and ungrateful crybabies taking the knee and playing the victim card. NFL needs to fold so these roid-heads can start packing goods at Walmart and realize how fortunate they are to be here.

Oh, please. What would the gamblers/fantasy football addicts do without the NFL? People stopped watching the games long before the knee-takers got their attention. Why watch a game that drags on for 3 1/2 hours when there are more efficient, less time-consuming ways to follow your bets?

One of my favorite stories about Ditka came from the '85 season, when a couple of players talked to him about doing some endorsement and he advised against it, telling them to concentrate on their games.

Then he went out and scooped it up for himself. Da coach may not have been a football genius but he was a pretty shrewd businessman.

I ran into Da Coach at the Horseshoe about 15 years ago. I remember seeing him and thinking "Holy Shit...its Ditka! " I walked passed him and said "go get em' coach" and he smiled, waived and proceeded to throw the bones. Don't know how the throw went.

cocktails.
