UPDATE: Hey look! Power and warmth and it didn't involve a space heater catching fire. We'll be posting semi-regularly throughout the day now.

Also why is that Rahm Emmanuel didn’t have to wait in the line for an hour and a half like I did instead he got dropped off right at front door and walked right in at the wake. The wind blew, the house creaked all evening. My power went out at 5:25 AM and didn't come back until noon. I shoveled all the wet, heavy stuff and it turned to ice not an hour later. There's ice on all the power lines. It's going to be an ongoing problem until the sun comes out.
I hate this city, and the entire Midwest. If I can only retire today...
Call ABC and consider it done ;)

I feel your pain. Power was out for almost20 hrs in my west suburban neighborhood. No heat at all. Just about the time I was gonna spend the night in a hotel the power came back on. Thank God for small favors. Don’t forget to keep an eye on your water pipes. Stay safe.

Invest in a Generac Generator.
This was by far the best single investment that we have made to our house. We never have to worry about the spoiled food in the fridge, or a flooded basement due to no power for the sump pump. Like any machine, we have a backup Diesel Generator in the event of a mechanical issue with our Generac.
Always have a 2nd backup to the backup plan.

007 didn’t have power either...not even generators!!!
..just a thought from someone who follows weather, early autumn trees still holding onto leaves, they catch more snow, break easier than late winter.. lines broke..
007 retired. Had a Wen 3500 in my Gage Park basement for years ,don't remember when I got it. Sure does the job for my daughters home in Buffalo Grove. Power out since storm. Provides heat, refrigerator and TV .. Com ed guy promises electric hopefully by Thursday.
I helped and I feel good about that..

I remember Rahn Emmanuel started to cry at a press conference. He said that someone asked him if the police treated him the same way as the people living in the ghetto. The mayor wept his tears and said “No they do not.” He continued to say that there should t be second class citizens everyone needs to be treated equal.
Cutting in line at the funeral is a prime example of what a hypocrite he is.

To the post above beefing about privileged cutting. Inform your family that if they get in that scenario, they request that all late comers especially mayors and exempts get in the back of the line. Family requests and wishes should override the chosen ones cutting line.

funny thing after six months of complaining to com ed they were scheduled to come out monday and repair my pole and service, its pulling out of the house. i was afraid the slightest wind or ice would down it. damn if it didnt survive the storm though lol. of course now it will probably be july before it gets back on the calendar.
