Nice Oversight Waller (UPDATE)

Once again, a document leaves HQ under the signature of a multiple "merit" promotee, demonstrating again what a bunch of idiots are in charge:
  • So BOP puts out an order for the recruit class of 17-02 (Office Jimenez classmates) to report to 016 and pick up 6 passenger vans for the procession. They list all of the classmates in 17-02 INCLUDING Officer Jimenez!!!! According to the order he is suppose to report to his own funeral? Doesn’t anyone at BOP look this stuff over? And doesn’t Waller read anything that comes out of his shop before he signs it? What a bunch of incompetent fools at Bureau of Patrol.
No one, not a single officer or administrative white shirt at Patrol Division cared enough to actually vet the class list for an Officer who just lost his life in the Line of Duty? No one thought to even look out for Fred so he didn't look like a complete moron ordering an Officer to attend his own funeral?

Remember, Earned, not Given.

UPDATE: We shouldn't be surprised. A sharp reader reminded us back in 2011, during Tina Skahill's first run of stupidity, she actually released an "Activity Tracking Program" that evaluated a dead officer. Link and pictures of that disaster here. The stupidity is obviously contagious and passed along to generations of morons.

There are probably a lot of competent, brave, & deserving officers and supervisors who are passed over by the merit board due to politics and influences to be put in command. The merit board has promoted members who have never testified in court, or put handcuffs on any offender- remember that. Or even have a real college degree.

Waller is the merit hack that helped to promote Po Jones to Sgt.
Yes Jones the partner of corrupt felon Sgt Watts of 002. Waller knew Jones was being investigated at the time, just check "wbez.org" chip Mitchell story from 2017 for the details.

Sgt Watts who is gonna cost the tax payers of Chicago millions in lawsuit. Over 20 cases have been overturned.

And lets not forget the domestic battery cover up in the 002 front office with sgt Bradley aka current co of 006 & that nasty secretary.

Yeap Waller is a total idiot!!!

Fucking disgusting. But so exemplary of just how far this job has sunk.

What was nice to see, however, was how nicely the wake was organized. From traffic control, to parking, to heated tents while in line to coffee and hot chocolate courtesy of the Salvation Army. Well thought out which helped to make one of the worst possible things to do a bit more bearable.

Random Observations:

- why does the CPD need several photographers to document/chronicle every nook and cranny of this tradgedy? They were all over the funeral home happily snapping away like it was a fucking wedding or party. Struck me as odd and in extremely poor taste to project joviality at a wake.

- the usual contingent of politicians were present; thankfully I didn’t have the displeasure of hearing any of them campaigning while there. And Fioretti needs to tone down the makeup.

- Community activist and police supporter Andrew Holmes was present to pay his respects. Class act, that guy, even if he’s not the most intelligent/articulate.

This is what he has staff for and in the end the staff screwed up not Fred Waller. I’ll go out after a bad guy with Fred Waller on any given day and I’m not not even a pal of his - just a guy who respects him because he is the police. We were classmates in 86-3 and when I left the job to be a FED he was still locking them up up and mastering the art of being the police. Fred’s entire career has been in patrol - no fancy units etc., just patrol. The closest to a unit Fred has hit has been tact or an area mission team. Fred is a sharp guy who has been well mentored. Some of you people should sit at his knee and learn a thing or two. Now if you people want to talk shit about merits there are plenty out there who are zeros along with many other bosses who were given test answers and thus received high scores which is another travesty and this shit goes back back to the 1970s way before NOBLE came on the scene. Cheating on promotional boards even happens in the Federal Agencies so don’t act like it is something that NOBLE created. And no I’m not a member of NOBLE. We all know merit promotions aren't going anywhere, but at least limit it to one per career. And make sure there aren't anymore subject matter experts to assist certain Noble people. The only positive outcome from the cheating was the rats fleeing what they believed was a huge scandal since there was little done to cover up the active cheating by the 3 (yes there was more than 3). But at least the big rats fled, wysinger and Williams. I'm sure they were pissed when they realized that the city was going to bury the cheating and they fled for nothing.

“Merit” is all bullshit for supervisory ranks. They didn’t even start it until 1996 when Shanks didn’t like the results of the latest Sgt/Lt tests. Court threw out his “merit” appointees until they did the next tests in ‘98, stating from the start that they’d promote 30% “merit”.

That’s not to say that your bosses back in the day were all deserving because many had the answers/ questions to the test......as they do today.

The prototypical CPD white shirt in 1985 was a connected guy who managed to stay out of trouble until 21 and did decent, but not stellar in a Catholic High School. Many were Korean and Vietnam vets. Today, they make abject morons who somehow didn’t piss hot.

Real merit promotions were used to appoint deserving guys to the position of detective for doing something spectacular . About 75% of these guy’s deserved it, the rest were political slugs.

And besides, all you really need to be a policeman is a drivers license and a loud voice.

Well, Agent Bubble Burster, allow me to clue you in on how your points are dated and invalid in 2018.

1) Fred may have been a great police officer in the 1980s. As it stands now he can't do much good for anyone that is being proactive. Thanks to cameras, you are either right or you are wrong. Not much of a gray area anymore.

2) Fred should pick better staff members then and not ones that are mentally challenged. He isn't running a Jett's Pizza storefront for God's sake.

3) No shit corrupt police organizations have been around forever. NOBLE didn't start it but they sure seem to be doing their best to keep up with the outdated, immoral, tradition of promoting incompetent fools. It was much more easier to tolerate back when the rank and file didn't have to wear body cams, and be forced into garbage liberal training and practices forced upon us by the Gold Stars and City Hall.

So, are we supposed to just accept that NOBLE isn't a bad organization just because prior groups like the Emerald Society did the same shit? Please. NOBLE is even worse because they are the most hypocritical. Preaching liberal goodiness, diversity, and equal fairness on one hand, while stealing promotions and not so subtlety enforcing double standards on the other.

Thanks for stopping by Feeb. Suck on a lemon? Sure thing buddy. I'll do it while you get a spoon and eat my ass. We can both do it while sitting on Fred's knees.

Slow down G-man. If you were hired with Fred in the mid80s but left to be a Fed you’ve probably been gone a long time. Slow down on schooling us all on how great Waller is. Rule #1- if you sign your name to it, you OWN IT!
Ask any number of blue shirts that have been fired because their name was on something that didn’t pass as correct. Nobody is saying Fred wasn’t the police either, but remember this, this blog is for the blueshirts and grunts, not a place for big bosses to always get a pass.

Hey pal, just because someone is a good cop doesn't mean he can be or is a good boss. There's a distinct difference between street smarts and admin smarts. His signature is on the order. Ultimately it's his responsibility. The biggest problem that CPD has is when there are fuck ups, our only response, no matter how serious, is "oh well." Pathetic.

I’ve had a decent career but if I could have a do over I’d incorporate lessons learned from Fred Waller. Now go suck on a lemon.
-----------------------------------------
Well said - this is totally true. I am not a close friend of Fred - but I can tell u he is a total class act that is approachable and keeps it real. The real deal. Merit or not he is solid.
I also know plenty Merit individuals who are much better supervisors than others (given answers or not).
Quit being a hater and go network. Just like in the outside world/business/corporate world - it alll about networking. I think that is part of the problem with the police today. They have never had a job in the real world and are totally clueless on the job and what the world is about. Millenials !!

Seems as if nothing has changed, who is Tina Skahill clout? I remeber her being a LT. in the late 80's. Her ex spent alot of time at 26th and Cal making lots of OT.

She was a Youth Officer in the late 80's.

On another merit note, is anyone in agreement that Cline started this promote your incompetent friend thing.
I don’t remember so many incompetents being promoted under Hilliard. Maybe I just can’t remember that far back but I do certainly know Cline must hold the record for merit bumps indicted, fired or split on their own to avoid capture. I didn’t think Ricobenes King of the steak sandwich was his only title.

His comment wasn't all that well said as evidenced by the shellacking he's gotten in retorts that pretty much refute his moronic points. I'm not a millennial and I never took a promotional exam because I never wanted to leave patrol. What I don't want is these idiots that never passed a promotional exam, getting in my buisness, and then trying to tell me what to do when they have no fucking clue what they are talking about. I'm not talking about merit sgts, whom are easy to put in place, but Lts and Commanders. Fred might be a good guy, but there are a lot of pieces of shit that don't know how to do anything other then kiss ass and count numbers. Networking is just a nice way of saying ass licker.

Bottom line is,if you can't pass at least one promotional test, you shouldn't be a gold star ever. Work hard and study. Gloria Hanna? Give me a fucking break. Name one thing she has ever done that was actual police work.

It's not an exaggeration.
They even dumped 3 people from Midnights, to DAYS!
No one wants to even be in the building at the same time as this jackass.

Fred Waller is one of the best on CPD. If you look at the news conference he wasn’t hiding he was trying to give Johnson the correct answers. Johnson didn’t even know the name of the hospital or what district Officer Jimenez worked, Fred whispered the correct answer. I worked with Fred for 5 years and he is the best.

I'm in total agreement. Exhibit 1 is Maria Maher, the fawning, shrieking shrew. She wasn't fit to supervise a laundry room.

Community activist and police supporter Andrew Holmes was present to pay his respects. Class act, that guy, even if he’s not the most intelligent/articulate.

I will say this about Holmes. He is willing to call out his own people about violence and unacceptable behavior, and wants them to be locked up unlike the other far left leaning Politicos. He goes on television imploring the community to come forward rather than adhereing to the “ no snitching” nonsense. I respect him for what he is trying to do and the integrity he brings to it.

Quick correction, It was Dan Dofyn and yes it did happen. I was that sergeant. Webb was a total idiot and it showed day after day.

Not a shock. My son in law was in the same class as PO Jimenez. During the academy he was given a list of district supervisory personnel. My name was on it. I had retired 6 years earlier. I counted 22 people on that list who were either retired or in another assignment. This from the brainiacs in the academy. Morons. Nobody pays attention to anything.

Ken Webb was a complete idiot, and his son was a lazy lying snake. Webb Sr. got smacked down soundly after he tried to railroad some cops over a police shooting. Ken Jr. is married to some OPS investigator. Don't get me started on her.
They run some low rent detective agency in the burbs. Good riddance.

Waller is a fake golden boy like the Johnsons brothers. You know, the social security thief and the other guy.Looks and acts like a great guy on the exterior until you peel that onion. Some really horrid stuff about Fred , his time with Ernie Brown and Jones.
To the kool aid drinking fed that's Fred's cheerleader. Post your name, and I'll post mine along with some real Fred stories that'll make you look and sound idiotic.
I'm retired. I can take the hit. Can you?

11/26/2018 12:25:00 AM

first of all, fuck Chip-we call him CRIP- Mitchell and WBEZ.Mitchell is a low rent hack reporter working for a leftist police hating news rag that hates cops and blacks.

I'm a north side cop, retired. I dropped my subscription to NPR and Wbez because of Crip Mitchell and the slamming cops have gotten from WBEZ. A lot of my family, friends and neighbors dropped their NPR subscriptions as well. There are some good citizens up in the 41st ward that supports the police.
I love how WBEZ paints cops as racists. Ever see some of the hit pieces they did on Jimmy Sanchez ( great guy) and some black cops? Media is far more racists than any cops could ever be.
Screw NPR. Screw WBEZ. And screw CRIP Mitchell.

Hate to burst your bubble but Fred Waller has been the real police since I met him in 1986. Blaming him for missing this error is ridiculous. Yeah OK. You keep believing this. Post your name, I'll post mine and I'll post some real insight on the real Fred Waller.
I'm retired, out of state, so I don't give a damn about Fred Waller/CPD fan club reaching out and touching me.
Now take that lemon and squeeze it in the kool aid you're gulping down. There's a reason Ernie B. made him a commander after 4 months as a lieutenant. Do the math.
