Officer Dragged
- A man was charged with dragging a Chicago police officer with his vehicle after allegedly driving away during a traffic stop Friday night in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.
Leonard Perry, 30, of Chicago, was pulled over for a routine traffic stop and drove off while the officer was speaking with him about 9 p.m. in the 800 block of West 76th Street, Chicago police and Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney [...]
The officer was stuck inside his window and was dragged about 50 feet, Gamboney said.
First time offender, right?
- Perry, whose driver’s license had previously been revoked, was charged with aggravated battery of a peace officer, aggravated fleeing and leaving scene of an accident, police said.
He was on probation for two prior convictions of making a false report to 911 and driving with his license revoked, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
The multiple-convicted offender is lucky he wasn't shot. Best wishes Officer for a speedy recovery.

Don't reach into the window. Don't grab onto a moving vehicle. You most likely won't get dragged anywhere. You're more likely to get hurt or killed trying to stop a car on foot than you are to actually stop the car. Be smart. Let it go. Get the next one.

IF, and only IF the Officer reached into the vehicle and tried to turn it off and take the keys....why would you do something that has such a high probability of severe injury? Only to arrest an offender that will receive NO punishment. Trust me when I say this...NOTHING is going to happen to this offender.

So what charges will be dropped before trial? Most I bet and he will get probation and will be behind the wheel again. The Officer will be lucky to get away without facing charges himself. Heal up as fast as you can so you can and get back out there and get me some activity.

Please DON'T reach inside a vehicle, it only takes a few seconds for the driver to drive away. Don't put your self in danger over a traffic stop!!!!

Adult probation is now a free ride. This dept is headed by the BIGGEST ANTI law ENFORCEMENT LIBERAL. This dept order all weapons units officer's, not to make any arrests or conduct home searches. Felons on Adult probation can do whatever they want now.

Years ago there was a streaming video on this topic. From what I recall the officer's shoes were ground off and then his foot bone ground. The officer managed to get his weapon out and shoot the people in the car. I also see officers standing between the rear of the offenders vehicle and their car on stops. If the offender puts the car in reverse, nothing good will happen. I stopped a drunk driver and he was fumbling with the gear shift when he managed to put the car in reverse hitting my car. Fortunately I was not between the cars.

What I used to do is approach their vehicle and stand behind the drivers door and have them exit their vehicle, once out of their vehicle I can see their hands then we’ll walk in between the cars or onto the sidewalk then have a discussion. If they claim their wallet is in the car have your partner retrieve it, if there are other passengers in the car have one of them retrieve it and hand it to your partner (who should also be standing behind the door) through the window. Who cares about their “inconvenience”, its all about your safety.
Is it really any surprise the maniac is still driving? Why shouldn’t he be? Everyone in Cook County knows Kim Foxx refuses to prosecute people for driving on suspended licenses.

Kimesha will be charging the officer with criminal damage to property for scratching the mopes car. COPA will try to jam him up because they’ll state the officer being dragged is really just a disguise to hide the fact he was chasing the vehicle on foot. And no pursuit ticket was pulled. And Special Ed will strip him because, well, it’s just a knee jerk reaction of his.

I attended the funeral of Officer Jiminez. I noticed that attendance was lower than past funerals. Just because we had bad weather is no excuse.

So if he was just speaking to driver how did he get caught on or in window. Something is not adding up. Proactive policing is over, fetal policing is the new norm. Ignore, turn the other way. You can't be persecuted or prosecuted for what you did not see. Does it really matter if the community is a hellhole? If and when it becomes bad enough maybe then they will help clean up the mess. Until that day become and stay fetal. The career you save will be yours.

Wilson still would of had a job if he didn't resign wasn't fired remember? I would have made them offer me settlement showed up everyday to work in records or evidence room he never would have been allowed back on the street!

Why in the heck is an officer sticking his head or arms into a passenger compartment during a routine traffic stop?
